Canadian fashion illustrator, Laura Gulshani, has created exactly this magic for us with a bespoke piece of art, tailored for the women of the region. Taking influences from Arabic culture, Middle-Eastern and International fashion design talent, and of course a lot of beautiful embellishment, this intricate paintwork captures an air of Full Page serenity and beauty. Art is fast becoming a huge part of Dubai life, with the ever-growing Art Dubai, a concept and exhibition which we learn about with the help of their International Director, Pablo del Val. However, a celebration of art isn’t just confined to Dubai, and we have handpicked the Advert must-see exhibitions that really shouldn’t be missed around the world. Fashion is an art form, and as John Galliano so candidly puts, ‘the joy of dressing is an art.’ Art remains as always, a considerable inspiration and part of fashion, which can so clearly be PENDING picked up from the Spring Summer catwalks, which were awash with artistic references, and designers paying homage to notable artwork. Similarly, haute couture designers are artists in their trade, and Lebanese design supremo, Georges Hobeika, shares his artistic inspirations. Elsewhere in the issue, we interview the prodigiously talented Alice Temperley, whose love of art is very clearly reminiscent in her creations. The debate continues about the ever speeding up movement in fashion, and the disruption it causes, with Alice sharing how streamlining is the way forward to continue successfully.
