REP. BIELE PARTICIPATES IN GO RED FOR WOMEN EVENT TO RAISE AWARENESS OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE IN WOMEN

arlier this week, State Representative David Biele joined legislators at the State EHouse in wearing red to raise awareness of the dangers of heart disease and stroke in women. The event was part of the Go Red for Women initiative, which encourages individuals to wear red in support of women’s cardiovascular health. This year’s National Wear Red Day is Friday, February 7th. According to a 2019 report, cardiovascular disease kills one woman in the United States every 80 seconds and takes the lives of more women than all forms of cancer combined. Heart disease and stroke also impact the lives of one in three women and are on the rise in young women in their 20s. “I was proud to join my colleagues in the Legis- lature to bring attention to the dangers and preva- lence of cardiovascular disease among women,” said Rep. Biele. “Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death of women in Massa- chusetts, but it is also one of the most preventable diseases.
