page! A lot seems to have changed since the last edition of Link Up.

Covid-19 update

At the forefront of all decision making this week has been to protect the health of all school community members. The Department of Education has been sending updates to principals on a daily basis, this information has been relayed through Compass and our Facebook page. It is important that you have access to both platforms if you want regular updates about Manangatang P-12 College news.

KEY DATES As was published earlier this week on Compass and Facebook principals have received clear guidance regarding steps to take if a staff member or student has been confirmed as positive with Covid-19. In addition to this, I received additional key information regarding what we, as DET employees would be expected to provide in case of a school closure. At this stage it is MARCH business as usual but with an emphasis on good hygiene and knowledge about how to keep ourselves protected in case of an undiagnosed Covid-19 presence at the school. 19 LMR SWIMMING PRIM/ SEC - POSTPONED To support the safety of everyone I ask that the school is contacted if someone in your family has 20 EASTER EGG HUNT had contact with someone infected with the virus or if your child feels unwell (particularly cough or fever). DET instructions are that unwell students and staff remain at home until symptoms 23 NAPLAN ONLINE PRACTICE resolve and seek medical assistance as required.

24 STUDENT LED PRESENTATIONS We are told repeatedly that the best way to protect ourselves is to maintain good hygiene (3 WAY ONFERENCES) POSTPONED practices. Our staff and students have been encouraged to use hand sanitiser on the way in and out of class, to not touch their eyes, nose or mouth, to wash their hands often with soap and 27 LAST DAY OF TERM running water, for at least 20 seconds and to cover their noses and mouths with a tissue when 2.30PM FINISH coughing or sneezing.

This week staff have been preparing materials in case the school is closed down unexpectedly. To access this planning it will be essential the school has your correct phone number and your latest email address so we can reach you if needed. It will also be important that everyone is able to use/access Compass and Facebook as this will be our main method of communication in

the coming weeks. If you do not have internet access please let the school know so we can arrange another method for providing materials.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

Student Led Presentations

Student Led Presentations which were scheduled for next Tuesday March 24 have been postponed. This is a precautionary measure and due to the uncertainty surrounding the increasing impact coronavirus may have on the community. Teachers will be available for a phone appointment in the last week of school.

In preparation for the presentations students prepared a folio of work samples. This will be sent home with your child’s progress report on Wednesday March 25. You are encouraged to take the opportunity to let your child guide you through their folio. A sheet has been provided to help your child articulate what is being done well, what needs to improve, how to improve, a commitment to making it happen and how teachers and parents/guardians can help.

The folios should be returned to school at the beginning of next term so it can be filled with Term 2 work samples.

Pupil Free Day cancelled As a consequence of DET directives almost all professional development has been cancelled. Staff will take a Pupil Free Day later in the year when the Framework for Understanding Poverty is rescheduled.

Link Up Publications Another change is that Link Up will now be published every two weeks rather than every week. Much of our day to day information is being published in a more timely way through Compass and Facebook.

It is important that we remain proactive and positive, this is when we pull together and lookout for each other. Please take care and let know me if there is anything more that the school can do to support the community at this time.

Attendance Last week no class group achieved 100% attendance.

Wishing you all a safe and happy weekend.

Page 2 College News 3-6 Summer Sports Report

Last Friday Primary students in year 3 to 6 participated in Summer Sports in Swan Hill. We had two cricket teams and one tee ball team competing. The first Manangatang cricket team did a fantastic job and finished third overall for the day. They finished with three wins and only one loss which was an incredible effort. The team had fantastic chemistry through the day and many players stepped up with the ball and bat. The star players for the team for the day were Anders Plant and Darcy Plant who both shone with the bat. The second Manangatang cricket team did a great job, finishing seventh overall, winning two games and losing two. They came home with an incredible finish winning last game by 141 runs and with a younger team have plenty to build on for next year competition. The star players for the team were Jasper Plant who got two man of the matches and Lachlan Jones who pulled off some fantastic shots batting. The cricketers were being watched with potential for a few to be selected to play in the small schools team Division in finals, but it has unfortunately been postponed to a possible later date. The T– Ball team had a great day and finished fifth overall. All students participated well and showed great teamwork and support during the games. There were some players that showed fantastic skill especially with the bat. Thanks to Mr Taylor who coached T– Ball and Mrs Thomas and Mrs De Pyle who assisted with cricket. Mr Behm
