ON ATLANTA LOSING A CUP DATE IN 2011 "Things change in racing - the one constant is change, as they say. You look at Atlanta and it has been a fixture on the schedule for a long time. It's hosted over 100 races, which is pretty incredible. It even hosted three in one year. There is no doubt that Atlanta is in a tough market, but I think this move will help them out in the long run. It should help sell the single Labor Day event out. If we can continue to put on the racing that has defined Atlanta over the years, I think the fans will come back and it will return to two dates." Brad Keselowski, No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger DODGE DRIVER QUOTES "Winning the two spring races-in-a-row at Atlanta definitely puts a little more confidence into our step coming back in there. But, we've seen week in and week out this season just how much things can change from the first race to the second. We understand the challenge that we're up against." See much more on this in this week's advance that follows. "The Atlanta race is definitely a race that we've had a bull's―eye on since our big win there back in the spring. With just the two races remaining until the Chase kicks in, we need to go all out in trying to win at Atlanta and Richmond in order to pick up those bonus points for winning races." Kurt Busch, No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger "When you go to Atlanta, you always worry about beating up your tires and the cars have been generally a lot tighter with the change to the spoiler. So for this race, you've really got to take care of your tires so that you can run well at the end of a long run. We were really, really good on the long runs in the spring race so we are looking forward to getting back to Atlanta this weekend." Sam Hornish Jr. No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger "I like the fact that Atlanta is a very slick racetrack. You come in to put tires on and you are almost three seconds a lap faster. That's huge! A guy that will come in and pit one lap earlier than you do will gain almost half a straightaway on you. That puts pit strategy into focus. It's just a fun place to race. I had a lot of success with the high line in the spring race. I don't really think of myself as a driver that prefers the top, but I'll definitely search around to see where my car is the fastest. That's why we love racing at Atlanta." Brad Keselowski, No 12 Penske Dodge Charger DODGE MOTORSPORTS QUOTE OF THE WEEK "I think that it's important not to run the car full out the first couple of laps because it will stretch the sidewalls out or chew up the tread and not give you the feel that you need on lap 30 of the run. The more that you take care of them in the beginning, the more that they will take care of you in the end." Contact: Adam Saal Matthew Simmons Bill Klingbeil SRT Motorsports - Nationwide Race Recap - Road America Trouble-free Day Gives Hornish Fifth Place Finish at Road America Villeneuve Leads Early, Ends Up Sixth at America’s ‘National Park of Speed’ June 22, 2012, Elkhart Lake, Wisc. - Sam Hornish Jr. stayed out of trouble and kept all four wheels on the road – literally – to score a fifth-place finish in the Sargento 200 at Road America Saturday afternoon. Hornish grabbed his third top five of the season and chopped 11 points off Elliott Sadler’s lead in the Nationwide Series championship standings. He now trails Sadler by 34 points entering next week’s event at Kentucky Speedway. Hornish led once in the race for three laps. The driver of the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge said he had a simple strategy entering the weekend’s event at the 4.048-mile road course, a track known for chaotic racing. “We were just trying to be smart,” Hornish said. “My goal for the weekend was to make sure that we weren’t sitting in any sand traps. I’m really happy about that and to be able to pass some really good road racers there towards the end, I feel like it was pretty good. There were some guys running into each other on the last lap and I did everything I could do to try to stay out of that.” The strategy worked, despite the fact Hornish was involved in a rambunctious five-car battle for fourth-place in the closing laps featuring Max Papis, Danica Patrick, Brian Scott and his Penske Racing teammate for the weekend, Jacques Villeneuve.
