Biography

Drew Edward Johnson began his illustration career in 1996 as series artist on Dark Horse ’/’s : X-WING SQUADRON . His work has since been published by DC Comics, Comics, , Wildstorm Productions, Boom! Studios, IDW, , , , Disney , and Sports Illustrated. Past commercial clients have included Warner Brothers Studios, Toys, Mattel Toys, Paramount Studios, and Walt Disney Studios. Drew is best known for his recent work on Legendary Comics’ best-selling , : AFTERSHOCK, as well as for his work as series illustrator on DC Comics’ WONDER WOMAN, and . In 2013, Drew moved into the field of television animation, working as a Storyboard Revisionist for two episodes of Marvel Animantion’s series, & THE AGENTS OF SMASH. Drew’s other animation works include Storyboard artist on four episodes of ’s series, , season 2, as well as character concept design for Bento Entertainment’s shows THE BLUES BROTHERS and BOTCOP in 2016. Over the course of his career, Drew has served as a member of illustration studios such as Jolly Studio, of Macon, GA, as well as Helioscope Studio of Portland, OR. He is currently a member of Garage Art Studio of North Hollywood, CA.

Freelance Storyboard Artist 2016-Current

Responsiblities include working with show director to create storyboard roughs and clean-ups using Toon Boom Storyboard Pro 4.1, and creating PDF files of rough and clean boards as well as track-timed animatic Quicktime movies.

Freelance Animation Storyboard Revisionist 2013-Current

Responsibilities include working with Director and reviewing storyboards, clarifying notes and ensuring storyboard revisions adhere to feedback provided, align with the shows style, and that revision deadlines are consistantly met.

Comic Book Illustrator 1996-Current

Responsibilities include storyboarding a written to 22 pages of panel layouts, and fully illustrating them after editorial approval. A comic book illustrator is responsible for character design, background design, prop design and overall finished illustration of a 22-page comic book, usually within a four to six week period.

Highlights include published works such as WONDER WOMAN #195-214 (Series Illustrator), SUPERGIRL #23-32 (Series Illustrator/Cover Illustrator), THE AUTHORITY #12-15 (Series illustrator), 52 Weeks 23 & 28, #8, in partnership with Mattel Toys, and WONDER WOMAN ‘77, adapting the popular ‘70’s TV Series starring Lynda Carter. Cover illustration credits include work on projects such as WONDER WOMAN, SUPERGIRL, , , MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE (with Mattel Toys), INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US (With Warner Bros. Commercial Illustration 2000-current

LEGENDARY STUDIOS/ PUBG MOBILE GAMES (2018): Created three pages of game level introduction cards featuring Godzilla and related characters from the film, GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS for PUBG’s popular First Person Shooter game, PUBG MOBILE.

LEGENDARY STUDIOS (2017): Created Illustrated End Title cards for the Legendary Pictures film, PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING. Pitched card ideas to the films Director and production staff.

WARNER BROTHERS STUDIOS MERCHANDISING: (2017) Created ten 11x17 character, weapons and prop illustrations for studio merchandsing catalogue for the Warner Brothers film, READY PLAYER ONE. These illustrations were used for T-Shirt and other ancillary merchandise sold through Hot Topic, Amazon, and other retail and on-line stores.

DISNEY PUBLISHING (2010-2012): Created original illustrations of various Superheroes for use with a series of Marvel Superheroes Storybooks for children. Created layouts for children’s stories based on Marvel’s and SHE-Hulk characters.

WALT DISNEY STUDIOS (2011): Worked with Disney’s in-house film advertising department to create figure poses for poster photography concepts for the film JOHN CARTER

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED MAGAZINE (2010): Illustrated two page insert comic story featuring basketball player Jacob Pullen for SI’s COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREVIEW ISSUE.

HASBRO TOYS (2009): Style guide illustrator for the Paramount film, GI JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA. Responsible for creating 13 pages of actor likeness head turns for reference for licensed properties based on the film

WATSON/GUPTILL BOOKS (2000): Created instructional illustrations for the book HOW TO DRAW GREAT LOOKING COMIC BOOK WOMEN, written by Christopher Hart.
