Preview Ladies' Slalom – Tuesday 3 Jan 2017 PREVIEW LADIES' SLALOM – TUESDAY 3 JAN 2017 Shiffrin looking for record eighth consecutive slalom victory > Mikaela Shiffrin can win a World Cup slalom race a record-equalling eighth successive time, equalling Vreni Schneider (1988-1989) and Janica Kostelic (2000-2001). > Shiffrin has won the last 12 World Cup slalom races in which she started and 14 of the last 15. The only exception in this run is a third- place finish in Flachau in 2015. > The last winner of a slalom race besides Shiffrin is Veronika Velez- Zuzulová when she won in Flachau in January 2016. Shiffrin did not compete in that race due to injury. > The last time Shiffrin failed to make the podium in a World Cup slalom race in which she competed was in Åre in December 2014 (fourth). > Only Marlies Schild (35) and Vreni Schneider (34) have won more ladies' World Cup slalom races than Shiffrin (23). > At 21 years of age Shiffrin, has won 26 World Cup races in total.     PREVIEW LADIES' SLALOM – Saturday 9 Mar 2019 Mikaela Shiffrin • Mikaela Shiffrin has already secured the ladies' slalom crystal globe, her sixth in this discipline. • Ahead of the giant slalom race in Špindleruv Mlý, Shiffrin has won 14 World Cup races this season, equal to the all-time record for most in a season set by Vreni Schneider in 1988/89. • Shiffrin has won a ladies' record 38 slalom events in the World Cup. On the men's side, only Ingemar Stenmark (40) has won as many or more World Cup slalom events. • The last 18 ladies' World Cup slalom races were either won by Shiffrin (14) or Petra Vlhová (4). Frida Hansdotter was the last skier other than Shiffrin or Vlhová to win a ladies' slalom race as she won in Flachau on 10 January 2017. • Shiffrin (6) could win seven World Cup slalom events in a season for the second time, after 2017/18 (7). The all-time record for most in a season is eight, set by Janica Kostelic in 2000/01. • Shiffrin has recorded a top-three finish in 19 of the last 20 World Cup slalom races, including in each of the last nine, with the only exception a DNF in Lenzerheide on 28 January 2018. • Shiffrin could finish on 10 successive slalom podiums in the World Cup for the second time, after January 2017 to January 2018. Petra Vlhová • Petra Vlhová is the only woman other than Mikaela Shiffrin to win a World Cup slalom race this season. Vlhová won in Flachau on 8 January.
