    Donors Making a Difference Daughters of Martha Sheeder Martha Sheeder graduated from the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing FastBacc® program in 2013. In remembrance of her life, her daughters Allison, Lindsay, Maury and Meredith, shared her story in a video that was shown at the 8th Annual Going for the Gold Gala this past spring. Below are some highlights from their touching sentiments about their mom. Smiling with heartfelt remembrance about her mom, Allison Sheeder said, “She was genuinely happy about everything. I think that happiness was infectious to everyone around her.” In May of 2012, Martha went back to school to complete the FastBacc® program at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON). The following February she was diagnosed with breast cancer. “After she graduated from the LHSON, she went back to Texas Oncology where she had actually gotten her infusions,” recalled her daughter Lindsay Sheeder Brown. “In fact, she started a tradition there now called ‘Martha’s Gong.’ Everyone that finishes their chemo treatment gets to ring the gong at the end. She had the opportunity to touch so many lives as a nurse,” recalls Meredith Sheeder. Then, in October of 2016, my sisters and I all got a phone call at about 11 p.m.,” shared Maury Sheeder. “Mom had been at dinner with her boyfriend and collapsed in the bathroom. She was rushed to the hospital. They did an MRI and quickly got the results back. The doctors put us all in a room together and explained that if there was white on the brain that it meant there was no brain activity.

    NEWS RELEASE Meunier-Lebouc, Neumann added to fresh&easy Dinah Shore Charity Pro-Am field Event will benefit LA’s BEST and Park Century School RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif., March 15, 2011 – Patricia Meunier-Lebouc, 2003 Kraft Nabisco Championship winner, and Liselotte Neumann, a 13-time Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour winner, have been added to the field for the inaugural fresh&easy Dinah Shore Charity Pro-Am on April 2, 2011, at Mission Hills Country Club, Palmer Course, in Rancho Mirage, Calif. With the addition of these two players, the 18-player field includes eight LPGA Tour and World Golf Halls of Fame members as well as players who represent 16 Kraft Nabisco Championship wins and a total of 450 LPGA Tour victories. THE FOUNDATION POSITION MEDIA – IMAGES AND WORDS IN WOMEN’S SPORTS In 1994, the Women’s Sports Foundation issued “Words to Watch,” guidelines for treating male and female athletes equally in sports reporting and commentary. This publication was developed in response to a number of events in which media were criticized for sexist comments made during network broadcasts or in newspaper and magazine coverage of women’s sports. The guidelines were distributed to electronic and print media on the Foundation’s media list and by request. “Words to Watch” was adapted with permission of the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sports, 1994. Section II of this publication remains as “Words to Watch.” In response to numerous questions and criticisms of the visual and narrative portrayal of female athletes on television and female athlete imagery appearing in print media, the Foundation has expanded its “Words to Watch” publication to incorporate imagery and to raise pertinent issues related to authentic and realistic reporting about and depiction of girls and women in sports and fitness. “Images to Watch” was added to this publication in October of 1995 and the main title revised accordingly (see Section I of this publication). This publication also includes a new section written specifically for female athletes who are asked to participate in electronic and print media advertising or other projects. This section (see Section III) was designed to educate athletes about their rights as models and to provide ethics guidelines for decision-making related to their participation in advertising and other visual and written programming regarding how they are portrayed.
