See Chapter 4 for examples of their use. CUMULATIVE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION OF THE STANDARD NORMAL DISTRIBUTION Table A.1 shows the probability, F(z) that a standard normal random variable is less than the value z. For example, the probability is 0.9986 that a standard normal random variable is less than 3. CHI-SQUARE DISTRIBUTION For a given probabilities α, Table A.2 shows the values of the chi-square distribution. For example, the probability is 0.05 that a chi-square random variable with 10 degrees of freedom is greater than 18.31.
