D. Sidney Potter Fliponomic - Flipology - Flip Methodology

D. Sidney Potter is a highly experienced and diligent residential real estate investor - who has worked successfully with nearly all of the major real estate developers in the Western United States in purchasing and reselling brand new tract homes and condominiums.

D. Sidney Potter is someone who ate, slept, and breathed real estate flipping since its newest inception in 2002 to its crash in 2007. Based in Pasadena, he was in Riverside, California when the phenomena began, which had some of the highest housing appreciation rates in the US. Quoted in several major metropolitan newspapers, Sidney bought just under 50 new tract homes for $17,000,000+ during a five year period.

He often employed a controversial ‘burn and churn’ strategy of putting multi-homes under construction for as little as $3,000 and rapidly reselling these homes at a substantial profit. This methodology proved to be effective, brutal, and efficient. Sidney became an authority on this type of speculating and was able to formulize a "how-to" on the do's and don'ts of new tract investing. Having made $1.2 million in four short years, Sidney then found himself engaged in the cleanup aftermath of several flip properties gone bad, which nearly ruined him financially.

“The Flip” provides insights into the world of real estate flipping, and real estate investing. Sidney’s experience can provide the guidance and direction you seek to help avoid obstacles and pitfalls, and help you earn money through real estate even during these difficult times.

As a member of the National Association of Realtors and the National Association of Home Builders, Sidney began his real estate career in 1992 as a mortgage operations consultant for Synergy Consultancy Group, and proceeded to work for Marcus & Millichap and Sperry Van Ness as a commercial real estate broker selling shopping centers and storefront retail. In addition to being a former member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, he holds a BA, 2 MBA’s and part of a Doctorate from Pepperdine University. Most recently he served on the Board of Directors for two major HOA’s in Las Vegas.

" was an apprentice to his father, Donald Trump, Sr. Similarly, I had a mentor, Charles Andrews. All investors need mentors, guidance, and sound advice – and this straight-forward guide through the many 'don'ts' of real estate investing is a breath of fresh air which real estate investors of all levels, novice to very experienced, will certainly benefit from while navigating through the inevitable ups and downs along the way."

--Kendra Todd, author of Rich and Grow Rich (HarperCollins) and New York Times best selling author. Host of HGTV's My House is Worth What? and winner of The Apprentice 3.

“Sidney’s book has an interesting approach to real estate investing. His principals are sound, streamlined and efficient. But don’t be fooled by his soft candor, since he’s probably the equivalent of Rahm Emanuel (Obama’s Chief of Staff), in that his investing methods are direct, brutal but painfully ethical. To his credit, he even gave me some investing advice on my second home in Branson, MO. And if for no other reason to read the book, Sidney’s methodologies are successful given his proven achievements in the real estate business.”

-- U.S. Olympic Wrestling Coach Bobby Douglas, in 1992 and 2004. (Sidney was a walk-on at Arizona State University in 1986 where Bobby Douglas coached 1975 to 92).

“The only thing more helpful when trying to sell one's home than staging, is pricing it correctly. Sidney Potter's The Flip is a must have guide for future home flippers or those just trying to ensure a return on their real estate investment."

-- Monica Pedersen, Host of HGTV's Designed to Sell. Fliponomics

Flip Methodology

Flip Methodology - A specialized real estate investment strategy that dictates an ethical interaction with other real estate professionals in the buying and selling of new tract homes in rapid succession. At its core, flip methodology promotes a "best practices" mantra among its practitioners and encourages a principled approach to each transaction. Notwithstanding these guidelines, flip methodology is an agglomeration of strategies focused on netting the most from each real estate purchase.
