HHS IN THE KNOW Weekly Bulletin Week of September 6, 2021 Labor Day - Monday, September 6th - No School* ALTERED BELL SCHEDULE: Attention All Students, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th will be an ODD BLOCK Day. Please click here for the bell schedule. PSAT/NMSQT: Attention Sophomores & Juniors: Every year HHS offers the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit State Qualifying Test) to sophomores and juniors. This is an optional test. Juniors are eligible to qualify for National Merit Recognition through the completion of this test. Sophomores, this would be a practice test as you cannot qualify until junior year. You need to sign up for the test by September 14th at 3:31pm. The test will be offered here at school on Wednesday, October 13th, at 9:30am. To sign up, please go to the Post Grad office (next to the Counseling Office) and speak to Mrs. Lieb. There is a testing fee of $20.00 cash or check (make checks payable to Heritage High School). Payment is required at the time of registration. Since CollegeBoard requires early confirmation and payment of the PSAT/NMSQT tests, we cannot accept late registrations. Don't forget the deadline! HOMECOMING 2021: This year's Homecoming Week - MARVEL MADNESS - is Monday, September 20th - Friday, September 24th. We will once again have the Battle of the Classes where the Seniors - Thanos will compete against the Juniors - Iron Man and the Sophomores - Venom will take on the Freshmen - Spider-Man. Please check the HHS website, Homecoming webpage, and HHS social media for information and updates. Get ready to dress up and show your spirit! PSAT/SAT TEST PREP: Doorway to College Foundation is coming to Heritage on Monday and Tuesday, September 13th and 14th, from 3:45 to 6:15pm to bring ZAPS PSAT/SAT Test Prep. The seminar fee is $95.00. Register at www.doorwaytocollege.org or call 877-927-8378. Our test specialists will show students how to: ● Handle each question type ● Gain points when answers aren't obvious ● Effectively study at home ● Improve speed and accuracy ● Understand how the questions are designed CLASS OF 2022: Yearbook deadlines are quickly approaching! Senior bios and portraits are due by September 24th at 4pm, and the "early bird" deadline for purchasing a senior baby ad is September 28th. And don't forget to purchase a 2021-2022 yearbook! For more information (and to purchase a book on-line), check the yearbook website or contact Mrs. De Vries. HOMECOMING DRESSES: Homecoming is right around the corner and dresses can be expensive. Please see the attached flyer for information about finding an affordable dress for the event. BOYS LACROSSE: Welcome back, Boys Lacrosse families! Fall ball is starting soon with the first game on Saturday, September 11th. Go Eagles!! _______________________________________________________________________ FOR PARENTS: HHS ATTENDANCE DO’s AND DON’TS: ● Call the appointment information into the attendance office the day before the appointment at 303-734-6700. Include the time your student needs to leave and the time you expect them to return to school. WE DO NOT DELIVER PASSES TO STUDENTS DURING THE DAY. The information given will be entered into Infinite Campus. Please ask your student to notify their teacher that they will be leaving class early. ● Upon returning to school, your student must check in at the Attendance Window, even if it is during an off hour or passing period. Failure to do so may result in an unexcused absence. Students must check in at the Attendance Office when they arrive to school late. If a message is left on the recorder the day of the appointment, it may not be retrieved until after your student needs to leave. ● Parents should notify the Attendance Office at least one week prior for pre-arranged absences of three or more days and complete and turn in the pre- arranged absence form which can be located at - https://littletonpublicschools.net/schools/heritage-high-school/attendance ● IF YOU ARRIVE AT SCHOOL TO PICK YOUR STUDENT UP WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE, YOU MAY EXPERIENCE A DELAY THAT COULD CAUSE YOU TO BE LATE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE DOES NOT ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE AVAILABLE TO RUN PASSES TO THE CLASSROOMS. HOMECOMING ASSEMBLY: Unfortunately, there will not be any parents allowed at the Homecoming Assembly this year at Heritage. Due to our growing number of students, we will need all of the available space to make sure all students can participate in the assembly. Thank you for your understanding. DRIVERS EDUCATION: Did you know that you can earn .25 LPS graduation elective credit while taking driver education? Go to the Littleton Public Schools Website and click the Driver Education Tab or littletonpublicschools.net/driversed. Classes are coming up on Saturdays at Littleton HS and afterschool at Arapahoe HS.
