    2011 Commission Report BAJA CALIFORNIA The two groups representing the Grand Lodge of Baja California have now worked out an agreement that has unified them again into one regular Grand Lodge. The leaders of the two groups have signed the agreement, and have assured it will be ratified by both groups. The Grand Lodge of Baja California has now satisfied the standards for recognition. BULGARIA There continues to be no progress in the unification of Freemasonry in Bulgaria. Since they have previously been determined to meet the standards for recognition, there is no interest on the part of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria in entering discussions with the Grand Lodge AF&AM of Bulgaria, either for unification or for establishing a treaty to share the jurisdiction. Both of these Grand Lodges appear to practice regular Masonry, and both were of the same origin until they split in 2001. This Commission has urged the two Grand Lodges to resolve their differences for the past seven years to no avail; therefore this issue will not be addressed again until the brethren in Bulgaria reach some type of agreement. CYPRUS The United Grand Lodge of England and the Grand Lodge of Cyprus have reached an accord whereby they will both share the jurisdiction of Cyprus, and have established fraternal relations among themselves. The Grand Lodge of Cyprus therefore now meets all the standards for recognition. CZECH REPUBLIC The Grand Lodge of the Czech Republic informed us that an irregular body calling itself the Czech National Grand Lodge was recently created by a group of dissident members who defected and formed this new organization.

To the uninitiated this bears no meaning; to a brother a way of life. Their importance is highlighted when the Worshipful Master directs attention to the Three Great Lights in Freemasonry, the VSL, The Square and the Compasses. The most important of these is the Volume of the Sacred Law1,2 an indispensable part of the Lodge. The open Bible signifies that we should regulate our conduct according to it. The teachings are to rule and guide our faith, a symbol of man's acknowledgment of his relationship to Deity. Upon the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England, the first ‘Constitution’ detailed the important relationship in the ‘Aims and Relations of the Craft’3. Without familiarisation to the BoC4, a brother understands the importance of the VSL from the ritual. A newly made brother is not presented a copy of the BoC until the end of the initiation degree.     Grand Lodge St. Germain Pansophic Freemasons Study Curriculum for ENTERED APPRENTICE This course of study is a guide to help the applicant to prepare for Initiation as an Entered Apprentice. Before Initiation, he or she must provide brief and correct written responses to the questions found at the end of this introduction. These comprise a basic orientation to Freemasonry in general. The answers must be typed and may be submitted to the Sponsoring Master, Secretary, or other designated official of the Initiating Lodge on paper or by electronic media. They will be duly examined and graded for accuracy by the Sponsoring Master. The applicant must achieve an accuracy of at least 90% and must satisfy the Mentor that he or she has gained a correct understanding of the questions missed before being approved for Initiation. 1 Grand Lodge St. Germain Pansophic Freemasons MASONIC SYMBOLISM The symbols and ceremonies of Freemasonry have been drawn from the work of stone masonry—most especially, the building of sacred places, temples, and cathedrals. Just as in dreams all persons and events are aspects of the dreamer, so in Freemasonry you are the materials, the worker, and the Holy Temple. Most of the moral and spiritual allegories of Freemasonry concerning the “making of good people into excellent people” appear in the Entered Apprentice degree, and it has been argued that clues to all Masonic Mysteries are given in the symbolism of the First Degree. The three “Blue Lodge” or basic Masonic degrees represent the growth of a person from spiritual youth to full maturity. The Entered Apprentice represents the Masonic “youth” of anew Initiate into Masonic Mysteries—not as a beginner, for many who join the Mixed Lodge are extremely developed souls, but as one who has come newly to the Egregore and ceremonial of Freemasonry as a legitimate and valid Masonic Initiate.

Grand Secretary 4115 NINE MILE ROAD RICHMOND, VIRGINIA 23223-4926 Dear Interested Individual: Shown on the next two pages is our “Petition for the Degrees,” which is to be completed in its entirety by a man interested in membership, who is at least eighteen (18) years of age, a resident of Virginia for the past twelve months, and who has had two Masons in good standing sign his petition. Along with the two-page petition is a “Disclosure and Authorization For Consumer Reports” form that gives the Grand Lodge of Virginia the right to perform a background check on you. Upon their completion, the petition and authorization form will need to be submitted to a local Lodge, along with the Lodge’s required fees for a petition and background check. When printing out the petition, please print it on two sides, if at all possible. Please note that documents with sensitive personally identifiable information such as Social Security numbers and birth date must be stored securely, electronic versions shall be password protected, and must be encrypted when electronically (e-mailed) transmitted. The usual process that follows is that your petition for degrees will be presented to the Lodge at its next meeting. The background check will be done and the final report is sent to you. DARLING GRAND MASTER 4 GRAND LODGE OF MINNESOTA BIOGRAPHY GRAND MASTER ROBERT L. DARLING Robert L. Darling, “Bob”, was born on February 17, 1956 in Mattoon, Illinois. His parents were Russell D. and Theresa D. Darling. They lived in Greenup, Illinois. The family moved from Greenup to Decatur, Illinois and then to Maroa, Illinois where he attended the Maroa Elementary and Maroa-Forsyth High School. After graduating from the high school in mid-year, Bob enrolled and attended Illinois State University located in Normal, Illinois. In December 1976, he graduated with a B.S. Degree in Industrial Technology. Bob has worked for numerous companies including Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur, Illinois; Baldwin Associates, Clinton, Illinois; Schrock Cabinets/An Electrolux Company, Arthur, Illinois, Electrolux Home Products, St. Cloud, Minnesota. He is currently employed with the State of Minnesota, Department of Labor and Industry, OSHA Enforcement as a Safety Investigator Principal, and has worked there since 2003. Bob has been a Master Mason for 29 years. He was initiated on November 23, 1987; passed to a Fellowcraft on December 12, 1987; and was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on January 9, 1988 by Maroa Lodge No.
