Zubiri RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING THE MEMBERS OF THE PHILIPPINE CONTINGENT TO THE 29™ SOUTH EAST ASIAN GAMES HELD IN KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA ON 19 - 30 AUGUST 2017 FOR HONORING THE COUNTRY WITH A TOTAL OF 24 GOLD, 33 SILVER AND 64 BRONZE MEDALS IN THE 11- NATION SPORTS MEET. WHEREAS, the Senate of the Philippines, has in several occasions, honored outstanding Filipinos for bringing pride and glory to the country by becoming victors in international sporting competitions; WHEREAS, the Philippine team made the country proud when it garnered 24 gold, 33 silver and 64 bronze medals, a total of 121, in the 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 19-30 August 2017; WHEREAS, held biennially, the Southeast Asian Games, otherwise known as the SEA Games, is the biggest multi-sports event in Southeast Asia involving participants from the 11 countries of Southeast Asia and is under the regulation of the Southeast Asian Games Federation with supervision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia; WHEREAS, by reaping medals in this international sports meet, the Philippine contingent has made our country proud and has shown to the world the spirit of Filipino excellence and sportsmanship; WHEREAS, this outstanding performance by our Filipino athletes deserves to be commended for the honor and recognition they have brought our country.
