We are very happy to have the opportunity to wish you warmly welcome to the ScAIEM 2018 in Oulu. The ScAIEM 2018 team is working for the conference. Our aim is to organize an event that will be an enjoyable experience for all the participants and will remembered years after. The program will have both academic and social elements.

ScAIEM organizes a full-day workshop for PhD students. The aim of the workshop is to support doctoral students in their actual thesis work. During the workshop, students present their research papers, research plans or proposals. They will get feedback from two named senior members of the scientific community as well as the audience of their presentations.

Scandinavian Academy of Industrial Engineering and Management (ScAIEM) organizes a full-day workshop for PhD students.The aim of the workshop is to support doctoral students in their actual thesis work. During the workshop, students present their research papers, research plans or proposals. They will get feedback from two named senior members of the scientific community as well as from their audience. The ScAIEM PhD workshop welcomes two kinds of paper submissions. We invite: 1. Research papers on any selected research field in Industrial Engineering and Management, preferably based on the doctoral thesis topic of the authors and covering a part of their thesis. Well-structured papers clearly presenting theoretical and empirical frames with analysis results and with emerging questions are encouraged as this will give the tutoring professors and doctors a good possibility to provide profound comments. 2. Research plans or proposals that cover the intended rationale, scope, theoretical framing, and research questions of the doctoral student. This option is particularly appropriate for doctoral students in their early phase, still outlining their research problem, and the preliminary research strategy.
For active participation, candidates receive 3 ECTS.

Instructions for writing the abstract: • Specify a clear title for your paper • Write your contact information after the title (name, address, e-mail, phone, university, and supervising professor) • Use line spacing 1, font Times New Roman, size 12 for the text • Keep the abstract short: total length about 1 page (500 words) • Define also which type of paper is in question (research paper on your thesis, or research proposal on your thesis) • Papers should be submitted as .doc or .rtf file
