Club Plates – it is not yet L-A-W Law but it seems likely that changes will come into place affecting registration categories for special interest vehicles such as ours. For Club Plates you will need an RWC, full stop!!! As cars with full roll bar caging cannot gain an RWC, this precludes plates for race cars so fitted. So it’s back to the old days where bedding in brakes etc will have to done on the track. We will send you more information as it comes to hand, there is no announcement date or statement about restrospectivity as yet. But if you want to renew your caged car Club Plates application be prepared for a knock back - we won’t be able to give you one. Remember, your registration is only valid when your Club membership is current and lapses after 14 days.

Pics courtesy Phil Wisewould There’s often confusion about how the HTCAV champs work. So for those who have forgotten or never knew, this is how it goes. The Outright Club Championship is won on the points a competitor scores from the five best results over the year. There are trophies for 1, 2 & 3 outright and 1, 2 & 3 for each class. So a little car can beat a big car for the outright championship if they score more overall points over the other little cars in their class than the big car does in its class. The Golden Oldies Championship relates to historic meetings only, based on total points scored in each class at historic meetings. Working out the points: The HTCAV Championship is scored off the final Classic Outright Results published on the Targa website. The basic score is established by deducting the outright position from the number of entrants, then club points are added from P1 to P7 (28 to 4) and added to the basic points. This total is then multiplied by the number of competitive stage kilometres declared by the organiser.

Page 28 December 2014 Historic Touring Torque In Over 3-Litres the Monaro Torana benefit continued with extremely close and ferocious racing, with the John Douglas Torana finishing 2nd again. Group N camaraderie came again to the fore with John Douglas giving an old tyre for the FE and use of his workshop facilities to change the tyres, as this was not able to be completed before the race start, Quentin Ferry loaned a pair of wheels for the race and the FE made it to the back of the pack and performed entertainingly with hard polished rear tyres. These were returned in perfect buffed condition to the owner. Thank you Quentin! The next Under 3-Litre race went off without a hitch with the Ferry EH constantly moving up the field and the early humpy of Jeff’s improving times with each race. A grid walk featuring the amazing array of early Holdens at this event ensued, with rear wheels returned for this event the FE looked much better… The public really appreciated being able to get up close and personal with these cars and compare for themselves the vast differences in their preparation. The early Holden regularity followed with some competitors showing they just don’t understand the meaning of regularity, but it was great fun anyway. In the final Under 3-Litre feature race bad starts from several midfielders causing a bank up but no damage was done. The midfield had a variety of Minis, Escorts and EHs and some of the slower rotaries creating various spectacles. Henry Draper’s Mini was sighted on the in field but resumed the race. Overall a great time was had by all, most say they will return. Put this event on your ‘highly recommended’ list: fun, friendship, an easy-going attitude and apart from the travel, it’s cheap. These scribblings are not in any way to be construed as a race report but more a feel of the event itself. Most Victorian competitors returned with trophies, oil pressure and no body damage - so a great weekend all round! Edward J. Dobbs
