Clinical psychological service is based on an integration of theory, scientific research, practice and clinical judgment. There are four main types of services: (1) direct service to clients, which may include assessment (such as personality, behavior, intelligence) and/or psychological treatment; (2) supportive service to carers; (3) professional consultation (including staff training, clinical supervision, teaching) and public education (such as promotion of psychological health) and (4) research. List of “Registered Clinical Psychologists” with Independent or Private Practice (April 2019) Disclaimer This list contains clinical psychologists who are: (1) members of Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP), (2) Registered Clinical Psychologists of The Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS), (3) providing services in a self-employed basis, AND (4) willing to have their names and practice released to the public. The list is not an exhaustive list of clinical psychologists in Hong Kong. The Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP) of The Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS) provides this list for the public’s information and reference only. This does not mean DCP recommends the service of a particular individual member or organization or holds any interest in providing this list. The information listed here is provided by members. On the date of print, DCP could only verify the HKPS registration status and DCP membership status. DCP does not hold any legal liability for the professional services rendered by listed members or organizations. Exercise care in choosing qualified clinical psychologists At present, anybody in Hong Kong can self-declare himself/herself as “psychologist” providing “psychological services” or “psychotherapy”. There is no statutory body with legal powers to monitor professional qualification or practice of clinical psychology in Hong Kong. To protect your own rights, you should be careful in choosing the service-provider. First of all, pay attention to or verify the person’s academic and professional qualifications. For instance, check whether the person is eligible to be a Registered Clinical Psychologist of HKPS and a member of our Division (Note 1). *Note 2: A = Adult; Ad = Adolescent; C = Couples; Ch = Child; F = Families; OA = Older adults *Note 3: Ax = Assessment; Tx = Treatment; Con = Professional consultation; F =Forensic [DCP/ER/Indept CP list/Eng/04/19] Page 1 Way to Make appointment and Fees/Charges 1. In general, appointments have to be made by the client or his/her relative in advance by phone. Referrals from professionals (e.g. medical doctor, allied health professional, social worker, teacher) and organization are usually accepted. 2. Fees are usually charged at private rate (depending on case nature, service needs, experience of clinical psychologist) on a per-session basis. 3. For inquiries about booking procedures and charges, please contact the clinical psychologist(s) directly. DCP will not make appointment for the public. Notes 1. Membership Criteria for Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP) Members of DCP must have obtained at least a master degree in clinical psychology [which includes these three components: (1) intense practicum under close supervision in many sub-specialized areas (such as child and adolescence, adult psychiatry, chronic illness or disability); (2) intense training in psychological assessment (such as intelligence tests); and (3) independent research]. 2. THE HONGKONG AND SHANGHAI HOTELS, LIMITED 2 March 2016 THE HONGKONG AND SHANGHAI HOTELS, LIMITED CELEBRATES ITS 150th ANNIVERSARY IN 2016 The Hong Kong-based parent company of The Peninsula Hotels, The Peak Tram, Peak Tower and Repulse Bay Complex, celebrates 150 years of tradition well served. HONG KONG 2 March, 2016: The distinguished heritage of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited (HSH) reaches a new milestone today as HSH celebrates its 150th anniversary. Originally incorporated on 2 March 1866 as The Hongkong Hotel Company, Limited, HSH was one of the first companies to be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and is currently the oldest registered company on the Hong Kong Companies Registry. For a century and a half, the compelling story of HSH has been closely tied to its city of origin, Hong Kong. Whilst evolving to meet the changing times at home and abroad, HSH has never lost respect for its past and its heritage, and it continually strives to emulate the standards of service and style that earned it the accolade of “The Far East’s leading hotel company”. The concept of “Tradition well served” remains fundamental to HSH’s approach. “Tradition is taking account of a wonderful history, but remembering that everybody today looks to the future. It is important not to forget that the future is built on the past, and we have a great legacy,” said The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of HSH. “We believe that our rich history gives us a fuller understanding of our shared identity, culture and values, enabling us to manage change responsibly, to safeguard the best of the past and to keep innovating to meet the demands of the next generation.” Today, the HSH legacy encompasses a diverse portfolio of assets worth HK$44.2 billion1 including ten Peninsula Hotels around the world, The Peak Tram, The Peak Tower and The Repulse Bay Complex in Hong Kong.

In fact, I was gearing up for a master thesis about a planning subject in The Netherlands, combined with an internship at a municipality or private company. But then, after just one week of lectures, something special came along; I was introduced to the RESPACE project 2011, taking place in Hong Kong. I had heard about this research project before. A small group of students would, together with project coordinator and Utrecht University teacher dr. Bart Wissink, visit an Asian city to research these changing urban environments. This year, the focus would be on urban conflicts in Hong Kong and 5 students would be able to enrol. Such a research project would fit perfectly with what I was and still am interested in; con- temporary issues in large urban areas, urban planning’s increasing difficulty to deal with a fast-changing civil society and the extremely fast growth of Asian cities.
