The meeting opened at 15.14 on Monday 6 May 2013, with Sophia in 't Veld (2VP) in the chair.

1. Adoption of agenda

The agenda was adopted without changes.

The Chair announced that the two points on data protection on 6 and 7 May would be conducted in the form of a joint debate: it started with the Regulation on 6 May (point 5), followed by the Directive on Tuesday (point 12).

Presentation by Mr. Morten Kjaerum, Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) following the letter of 22 April 2013 by the Chairperson of the Management Board on the intention of the Management Board to extend the Director's mandate LIBE/7/12582 Mr. Morten Kjaerum presented the achievements of the FRA since its creation. Nuno Melo took the floor.

8. Presentation of 3rd Europol Joint Supervisory Body (JSB) inspection report on the implementation of the TFTP agreement LIBE/7/12583  Presentation by Nataša Pirc Musar, JSB Chair in the presence of the Commission. Nataša Pirc Musar presented the JSB inspection report on Europol implementation of the TFTP Agreement ("Swift agreement"). The Members of the LIBE Committee expressed their preferences on the proposed 21 candidates. The vote on the candidates to the Scientific Committee of the Fundamental Rights Agency proposed by the Management Board took place by secret ballot.
