Greenside High School Sports highlights and achievements 2019. Greenside High School believes strongly in the Nelson Mandela quote that says: “Sport has the power to change the world; it has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to the youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope, where there was once only despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers. It laughs in the faces of all types of discrimination. Sport is a game of lovers.” We are truly grateful as a school that our learners are exposed to 13 sporting codes and many see themselves having career opportunities in the respective sporting codes that we offer at our school. Even though we were faced with a few challenges in the year, we have also developed and our perspectives and goals have broadened. We would like to celebrate the achievements of our learners this far in all respective codes. SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS AND ACHIEVEMNTS 2019 | s Rugby The focus in every year is to introduce the girls to appropriate technique and develop a safe and competitive environment. They had a very successful league competing with 12 schools and the U16 girls being undefeated in 2019 and our U18 only losing 1 friendly game. Almost all the girls both u16 and u18s were invited to the National Rugby Week trials. Two senior girls unfortunately did not make it in the last trials and three players were chosen for the u18 National Week Team. -

The 2018 JPC Senior Drama class is an exceptionally talented group of actors and it is because of their talent that this hugely challenging and provocative play was selected to showcase their talents. I encourage you to attend one of the two performances. You will not be disappointed. SCHOOL FEES I extend my sincere thanks to all parents who pay school fees. We attempt to keep these to a minimum. The reality for us is that without them it would be impossible to maintain the very high standard of education John Paul College provides. SIGN OUT PROCESS: SICKBAY It has come to my attention that many students are contacting parents direct to collect them from school when they are feeling unwell. The process at John Paul College is for students to come to the nurse in the sickbay to be assessed and if required, the nurse will make contact with the parents to collect the child and sign the child out. -

St Peter’s College 12th Annual Sports and Cultural Festival The 12th Annual St Peter’s College Sports and Cultural Festival is happening at the College in Sunninghill from Friday to Sunday, 18 – 20 September 2015. This year, we have 44 schools participating with over 110 teams comprising of about 3,500 high school children, plus spectators. This is the largest schools sports and cultural festival of its kind in South Africa. Our Festival is unique in that we bring children from all walks of life, underprivileged and privileged, together to engage with each other on a ‘level playing field’ to play sport and share cultural interests. Its source materials are numerous archival collections, newspapers and over 40 personal interviews. This study addresses two questions relating to F.W. de Klerk's use of the referendum mechanism in 1992. The first is why he used the mechanism, highlighting its role in the context of the early stages of his quest for a managed transition. -
