Frustrated That Sex Wasn't Bringing Her the Elusive Orgasms She Craved, Julie Buntin Unlocked Her 0 with a Little Help from an Unexpectedly Arousing Plaything Frustrated that sex wasn't bringing her the elusive orgasms she craved, Julie Buntin unlocked her 0 with a little help from an unexpectedly arousing plaything. Maybe her story will inspire you to discover the sexcessories that will change your life. I was 22 years old in a shower in Paris when I had my first orgasm. There was no man in sight-just a phallic, plastic shaft the same color as a blue raspberry Blow Pop. In that steamy Uiter ally) moment, the Blueberry Bliss vibrator changed my sexual life. Before Blueberry, sex was pure frustration. "You like that?" guys would ask from between my legs. "Urn, keep going," I'd instruct, as clueless boyfriends rubbed everywhere but my clito ris. Occasionally, someone would get close-but I'd always stop him by faking an orgasm (lots ofloud puppyish noises did the trick) just as the sensation started to get really intense. The truth is, I was scared. Although I lost my virginity at 15 and always had boyfriends, I never really masturbated. I spent more time fantasizing about crushes falling in love with me than discover ing what I found arousing. Tapping into my own pleasure seemed less motivating than making myself into what guys wanted Plus, being an orgasm virgin made me afraid of my body. IfI come, will I pee? I wondered. Sometimes, it felt like I might. By my 20s, I knew I was missing out. "Maybe I've had an orgasm," I'd say to friends. "Ifl think I have, I probably have ... right?" They stared at me with pity. One Sunday, my best friend dragged me to Babeland I chose the Blueberry Bliss Turbo Glider because it was the cheapest, and I promptly hid it deep in my closet from my then live-in boyfriend. I continued to fake orgasms with him and then felt resentful about the fact that he got a lot more pleasure from our sex life than I did. A few days before traveling to Paris for a summer study-abroad trip, I slid Blueberry into my suitcase on a whim. Was it in the spirit of trying new things that I whipped it out and took it with me into the shower? More likely, it was because I was finally alone. I stood there, water streaming down my face, rubbing the vibrator (on medium speed) in a circular motion on my clitoris until, miracle of miracles, my mind went blank and my entire body tumed to fizz. I let out a soft little "oh," more of a choke than a moan. Do you even need to ask how I spent the rest of my summer in Paris? There were no guys involved, but I was coming daily. It took getting myself off to leam that sexual chemistry requires a give and take. Once I knew how I liked to be touched, I dropped the fake pomy act and realized that compromising my own pleasure for the sake of someone else's feelings was only going to hurt my relationships. Ultimately, this led to breaking up with the boyfriend, who could never get the job done, even after I figured out how to explain what tumed me on. Without Blueberry, I might still be with him. Happily, I now have mind blowing orgasms with other human beings. In fact, I hardly ever use Blueberry anymore. But we'll always have Paris. • History, Consumer Practice and Cultural Texts About the Vibrator
Automatic Lover1 - History, Consumer Practice and Cultural Texts about the Vibrator Autoria: Luciana Castello da Costa Leme Walther Abstract: The idea for this exploratory study arose during a previous research on the emergence of a more overt female consumer of erotic products. The ethnographic method was used then, comprising in-depth interviews and participant observation at women-only sex shops in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which is popularly and scholarly known as a highly sexualized culture. During interviews with shop attendants, an episode of “Sex and the City” was repeatedly mentioned as the reason for which the so-called Rabbit vibrator became the best sold item in all stores visited by the researcher. Therefore, studying the vibrator as a commoditized product and understanding the way consumers deal with its representation in cultural texts seemed like a promising path of investigation. Thus, the aim of this study is twofold: (1) to further understand, with a cultural approach, how women in Brazil create and negotiate meaning through erotic consumption; and (2) to examine, with a marketing approach, the effectiveness of product placement as a tool to market sex to women, considering consumers’ interpretive strategies. In this study, we applied Hirschman, Scott and Wells’ Model of Product Discourse (1998) to consumption practices and cultural texts about the vibrator. This model assumes that, in order to acquire meaning, any good must go through a process that will culturally construct it as a symbol and hierarchically place it amidst a product constellation or object system. Therefore, understanding how goods acquire meaning is as important as understanding what they mean.

This project is also dedicated to those who experience, and especially those who have died by suicide due to, the devastating consequences of post-SSRI sexual dysfunction, post-retinoid sexual dysfunction, post-finasteride syndrome, and persistent genital arousal disorder/genito-pelvic dysesthesia. May you rest in peace, may your deaths fuel a passion for future research, and may we find the cures. iii Abstract The proposed final project addresses the need for a bridge between women with sexual dysfunction and the healthcare available for these conditions. Many women experience sexual function problems but there are significant barriers to help-seeking for these conditions. As systemic change takes time, I aim instead to arm women with information that will help work within the current system.

The Best Vibrator For You By Michael Castleman Sex toy marketers—including the one this site’s affiliate, mypleasure.com—offers dozens of different vibrators. Which one is best? That depends on you and the kind(s) of erotic stimulation you enjoy. All vibrators have one thing in common. They vibrate. They all contain little motors that produce pleasurable sensations in the skin—in the genitals or anywhere else around the body. Beyond that, however, vibrators vary tremendously. They come in many different shapes, sizes, colors, materials, and power sources. Shapes And Sizes Realistic-looking penises, larger-than-life penises, and more abstract cylinders that don’t resemble penises. These may be inserted into the vagina, or pressed into the vulva and clitoris. They may also be used for whole-body massage. And if you like, they can be pressed against the anus, or even (with lots of lubricant) inserted inside it. G-spot stimulators. These enable a woman to reach her own G-spot, something that’s difficult to do with her own fingers. The G-spot is not really a “spot.” It’s an area about the size of a quarter located an inch or two inside the vagina on the front vaginal wall if the woman is standing, or the top if she is lying on her back. The G-spot is an area composed of erectile tissue similar to the tissue inside the penis. During sexual stimulation, G-spot tissue swells and often feels like a firm, domed area that protrudes a bit from the vaginal wall.

  • Fifty Shades of Toys: Notions of Play and Things for Play in the Fifty Shades of Grey Canon
Issue 8 January 2016 www.intensitiescultmedia.com Fifty Shades of Toys: Notions of Play and Things for Play in the Fifty Shades of Grey Canon Katriina Heljakka University of Turku Abstract According to cultural studies scholars, the Zeitgeist of current times is ludic in nature, meaning that play(- fulness) is taking center stage. Although play may be based on physical interaction with other players, toys of various kinds influence greatly how contemporary understandings of play are formed. At the same time, adult toys, also called sex toys or novelties, are gaining popularity and becoming more common objects in adult play activities. This article explores the playful dimensions of the Fifty Shades of Grey canon by investigating how notions of toys and adult play are represented in the books and the film. As E.L. James’s working title for her first version for the book wasMaster of the Universe, it is plausible to perceive a connection between the liter- ary work and the realms of toy culture. Master of the Universe also links to action figures launched by Mattel in the 1980s (‘Masters of the Universe’), might imply that the main character Christian Grey is an action figure of sorts; but, contrary to the idea of toys, one that is not willing to surrender to be played with by others. Instead, he is the master player in control of a Playroom and an aptly curated collection of toys, and the one playing with human ‘dolls’ as the architect of sexually charged scenes. This article argues that the trilogy (and the first cinematic adaptation), in the playful appropriation of various instrumets for play, may have helped to contribute in the prevailing megatrend of toyification of ev- eryday life; encouraging both producers and users of adult toys to rethink the aesthetic, audience and appro- priation of sex toys.
