He has appeared on Martha Stewart Living, helped Sarah Jessica Parker find "Big" (Bird), and helped a flightless Annette Bening get around Sesame Street. But now Super Grover has lost his superness, which means somewhere on Sesame Street, bus stop signs are going unnoticed, computers are staying unplugged, and children remain afraid of haircuts — all problems usually handled by the red-caped crusader in the knight's helmet who is "smarter than a speeding bullet." Enter the Fabulous Five — Elmo, Telly Monster, Abby Cadabby, Zoe and her pet rock Rocco — who save the day and will teach Corpus Christi children valuable lessons when "Sesame Street Live: Elmo's Healthy Heroes" makes its 27th trip to Corpus Christi on Tuesday and Wednesday for five shows at the American Bank Center Selena Auditorium. Each production features an original storyline with educational building blocks as well as emotional and behavioral teaching moments. Created in response to the Sesame Workshop's "Healthy Habits for Life" Campaign, "Elmo's Healthy Heroes" is the newest storyline in the 31-year tour. It stresses eating healthy, using good hygiene, getting enough sleep, and exercising, all lessons the Fabulous Five learns through teamwork and friendship.

    Interviewee: Joan Ganz Cooney Session #3 (video) Interviewer: Sharon Zane New York, New York Date: July 13, 1998 Q: I was looking through the transcript and I thought it would be interesting if you could just talk a little bit about, from your own background what interests and experience led you into the whole field of TV programming. Cooney: Well actually the experience that I had did not point the way because I majored in education in college. I went to Washington right out of college and worked for the State Department as a clerk typist in the foreign student exchange program. I just wanted to see what it was like to live in Washington and work for the Federal Government. I had a friend doing the same thing so we did it together. And then I went out to Phoenix and worked on the local newspaper in order to save enough money to move to New York. When I came to New York I thought I would probably work in print, but of course this great new medium of television was blossoming. The year was late 1953 I came to New York. And so while I interviewed at news organizations, print news, and was offered a job in fact at the New York Times on their women’s page, but I didn’t want to do that, I went to work at RCA and then transferred down to NBC and became a publicist for soap operas which was what I was offered and happy to have. What qualified me was the newspaper work.
