DAY 1 ARRIVEPODKOREN Arrive in Podkoren, an alpine village with stunning vistas of the Julian Alps. This area and par cularly this pre y alpine village, is well known for its World Cup slalom ski races held every January.
Day 2 PODKOREN - KRANJSKA GORA – JASNA VALLEY –12.5 miles 20 km round trip eleva on 300m Star ng in the Jasna Valley, the trail ends in the mountain arena of the Prisank and Razor Mountains. Time allowing you can visit the “Russian Chapel” a touching monument dedicated to Russian POVs' who died during WW1 while building the military road over Vršič Pass.
Day 3 PODKOREN – THREE COUNTRIES POINT - PODKOREN 11.8 miles 19 km round trip eleva on 640m Today you shall walk to the summit of Mt. Peč (1508m) to the tri- ple border point where Slovenia, Italy and Austria meet. At the top you can soak up the drama c views across the Julian and Carnian Alps, with Hohe Tauern, the highest alpine range in Austria, form- ing a picturesque backdrop.
DAY 4 RADOVNA VALLEY – VINTGAR GORGE - LAKE BLED 6.8 miles 11 km eleva on 200m The trail follows the wonderful unspoiled stream of the Radovna river all the way to the Vintgar gorge, a mile long canyon with a 30m waterfall on the end. Then con nue past the Katarina church viewpoint through the world famous Lake Bled resort and your des na on, a roman c small village of Selo, some 2 km from towns’ centre.
DAY 5 BLED – BOHINJSKA BELA – LAKE BLED 9.7 miles 15 km / total ascend eleva on 270m A day to explore Bled, its lake, island church with “The bell of wish- es” and the castle on the rock. A short panoramic walk can be tak- en to the villages of Kupljenik and Bela. Photographers will want to ascend Osojnica where the best photos of the lake can be taken from in the a ernoon light.
DAY 6 POKLJUKA – USKOVNICA SADLE – VOJE – LAKE BOHINJ 7.5 miles 12 km / total eleva on 200m First you will have a short car transfer to the top of Pokljuka’s high plateau, here is where a 7.5 mile downhill walk to Lake Bohinj starts. This high plateau is a good star ng point for more demand- ing tours. Hiking across mountain pastures and farm lodges to high viewing points of Bohinj valley.
DAY 7 LAKE BOHINJ 8 miles 10/14 miles 16/23 km. Lakeside / valley walk A day for rest or an easy hike around Lake Bohinj (in the summer months one can swim in its' crystal clear waters). Also to be visited are the Savica waterfalls, the 70m high source of the Sava Bohinjka river. As a side trip, you can take a cable car ride up Vogel Mountain. Or for the foodie, try the local pubs that serve excellent lake trout.
