Having said that, all the players were a wee bit disappointed not to have taken maximum points. We had the better of the play and created a few good chances for the first hour of the game but Nock got on top of us after getting their equaliser with 25 minutes to go. I could say that if we had got the all important second goal while on top I’ve no doubt we would’ve came back up the road with all three points but I also think we should be able to win games by a single goal. I suppose a point from this fixture isn’t a disaster although the manner of the way we conceded the goal was extremely disappointing. It was pleasing to hear that we received a bye in the first round of the Scottish Cup as I’m happy enough to receive any favours that are going in pursuit of a good cup run. Today we welcome Irvine Meadow to Holm Park for more League business. There is no doubt this could be a tough test as they have yet to experience defeat in the League, but our guys will know they will need to keep their individual performances at a decent level with cup final places up for grabs the following week. I think we can expect to see many changes from last season’s Irvine squad but many of their players will have a familiar look about them. The old Ashfield management team of Stevie Rankin and Murdie McKinnon are now in charge at the Ayrshire club and they have taken a significant amount of players with them and I’m sure many of our supporters will recognise them from our many exchanges in recent years with the Saracen Park club. We have to get back to winning ways if we are serious about staying near the top end of the League and we also want to head into next week’s final with as much confidence as possible so please get right behind the boys and give them as much vocal backing as possible. Enjoy the game. Billy McGhie 32 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2013-14 CLYDEBANK FC OFFICIAL MATCH PROGRAMME SEASON 2013-14 5 Bankies at Cumnock 7/9/13 As the heavens opened the hardy 288 fans dived for cover and it was end-to-end stuff as both sides pushed for a winner. Too often Clydebank’s final ball was slack though and the closest they came was a McPherson header that flashed wide and then a free-kick from the same player that flew over the bar.

During Scottish football’s formative years, however, the ascendancy of the Old Firm was far from set in stone. The exhaustive study of these two extraordinary organisations, therefore, greatly distorts our understanding of Scottish football’s Victorian origins. Both clubs were part of a far greater scene which included not only fellow ‘senior’, well-established clubs, but also any number of ‘junior’, ‘juvenile’ and non-classified football clubs, as well as fledgling associations which oversaw the regulation of the young game.

Getting To Football 2021-22 August 2021 Edition Andy Edwards Andy Edwards 17 Catherine Street Rochester Kent ME1 2HJ [email protected] Most of the content of this work is in the public domain. The remainder of the content, and the presentation of the information, is © Andy Edwards 2021. The cover image is © Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum 2019. Introduction Welcome back to Getting To Football! When I put out the last edition in March 2020, little did I know that it would be almost eighteen months before the next edition. As I write, there is reasonable confidence that football will be almost back to nornal in the 2021-22 season, although it certainly cannot be ruled out that this may change – and if there’s going to be a game, it remains the job of Getting To Football to get you there! For various reasons – mostly related either to procrastination or to cricket - this edition has been prepared with a shorter lead time than usual. This means that not all of the usual content is present; this edition covers only football in England from the Premier League down to Step 6, the top two levels of football in Northern Ireland, the top five levels in Scotland, and the top two levels in Wales. The lower levels in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will return in the October edition together with hockey and rugby union. Football in Ireland, Gaelic football, hurling, rugby league, and shinty play summer seasons and will return in good time for their 2022 seasons. In another minor change for this edition, I’ve turned the font size up a bit.
