Non drafté à la fin de son parcours scolaire. MVP de l'Ivy League 2014. Vu entre 2015 et 2017 en D-League . Va vivre sa première expérience en Europe pour 2017/18. Initialement recruté par Goettingen, il n'avait pas réussi l'examen médical avant d’être libéré par le club allemand. Trouvant de suite un nouveau job, il a ensuite renforcé l'équipe finlandaise de Joensuun Kataja Basket. Une belle affaire pour la formation de Korisliiga puisqu'il tourne à une moyenne de 19,5 points, 10,5 rebonds et 3 passes pour 36 d'évaluation en 30 minutes sur 2 matchs (38 et 34 d'évaluation) depuis l'ouverture du championnat. On le retrouvera également sur la scène européenne puisqu'il dispute la Basketball Champions League pour cette exercice 2016/17. Polyvalent, Wesley Saunders est un très bon joueur qui n'a pour l'instant pas complètement révélé dans le monde professionnel son potentiel entrevu durant son parcours scolaire.
