MAYOR’S Table of Contents MESSAGE Welcome to the 2019 Western Stampede PRCA Rodeo! This year marks the 65th anniversary of the Western Stampede. It’s hard to believe the community hosts such a large celebration year West Jordan - From Farm 5 after year and finding Town to Full Service City new ways to make improvements. World-ranked cowboys and cowgirls come to West Jordan to test their talents on some of the toughest stock in the business as they compete for National Anthem Singers 9 prize money and the chance to advance to the NFR. Of course, the Stampede would not be possible without our volunteers. Thank you to our volunteers Western Stampede 10-11 who donate their time to help run the ticket office, Royalty coordinate entertainment, manage concessions and assist with many other important tasks. And thank you to the many great businesses who Rodeo Entertainment 13-17 partner with us to bring you this event. These companies are great corporate citizens that continually give back. If you have a chance, show your Western Stampede 19 thanks by supporting them. You’ll notice their banners around the arena and ads in this rodeo program. Schedule Hopefully, you were able to catch West Jordan’s Fourth of July Parade. You can also come to the Children’s Cervi Championship 20-21 Parade on July 6 at 3:30 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park at the northeast corner. Afterward, we’ll be Rodeo having Family Fun Night followed by a movie in the park shortly after dusk. Almost 115,000 people call the City of District 1 West Jordan home, making it the fourth-largest city in the State of Utah. Much has changed since pioneers settled this area in 1849. An event this size takes a lot of coordination and the planning for next year begins as soon as the dust settles from the current rodeo. PatriotGuardRidersofUtah.com 2019 West Jordan Western Stampede 9 Royalty 2019 RAEGANN MCCURDY Queen Raegann Cynthia McCurdy is the daughter of Rob and Katie McCurdy. She is 17 years old and will be a senior this fall at Copper Hills High School. She has lived in West Jordan her entire life and both of her parents grew up in West Jordan. In 2002, when she was just six months old, she won Little Miss Utah and was invited to ride in the welcome wagon in the Western Stam- pede Rodeo along with City Council members and the Mayor. Since then, she has wanted to become royalty and ride her own horse in the rodeo. Raegann enjoys competing on her local High School Rodeo team, loves her 4H club and was a student body officer. As a leader who strives to always lead by example, she was given the Mentor Award from her 4H peers and was also a member of Youth At Large. She is currently a varsity cheer- leader and is looking forward to new adventures in leading her school. After graduating, Raegann plans to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When she returns, she would like to attend Utah State University and pursue a degree in sign language interpretation. ASHLYN MONTAGUE 1st Attendant Ashlyn Montague is a student at Corner Canyon High School where she main- tains a 4.0 GPA and has become fluent in Mandarin Chinese. She plans on at- tending Utah State University after high school to receive her degree in Equine Science with an emphasis in training. She has been competing in 4H and American Paint Horse shows since she was seven. She has held the office of vice president and secretary in the Utah Junior Paint Horse Club and is currently a youth ambassador for the Salt Lake County 4H Horse Program, the president of the Sale Lake 4H Teen Council, and is on the American Paint Horse Association’s Youth National Board of Directors. She works at Mountain Point Performance Horses where she loves learning from her trainer and working with horses.
