Hosted by Bath Interfaith Group, which next year celebrates its 30th anniversary, the event will explore the diversity of the Hindu tradition. Hinduism, thought to be the oldest religion in the world, is full of diversity and colour. Jane O'Hara, Secretary of Bath Interfaith Group, said: 'As part of the Diwali season, we wanted to do something that not only celebrated the occasion, but would give people living locally the opportunity to find out more about the richness and depth of Hinduism.' Five speakers from a range of Hindu traditions have been invited to take part in a panel discussion, followed by a Q&A session. The speakers are: - Ashish Rajhansa (Bath Hindu CIC) - Charlotta Chandrika Martinus (Universal Yoga) - Owen Hanner (Mohanji Foundation) - Nathan Hartley (ISKCON) - Cllr Yukteshwar Kumar (B&NES; Council) The first national Inter Faith Week was held in 2009 at the suggestion of the Inter Faith Network for the UK's Trustees, in response to a report from the (then) Department for Communities and Local Government, which suggested that more needed to be done to bring about cohesion and unity among diverse communities. Over the last decade, communities across the country have been hosting and coordinating events that celebrate diversity, and encourage people from various religious backgrounds (and none) to come together to learn from one another. 'Our interfaith event in Bath is a chance for us to learn, understand and celebrate diversity together with others,' added Jane. 'The Many Colours of Hinduism: A Panel Discussion' will take place on Tuesday 12th November, 7.30pm at The Weston Hub, Penn Hill Road, Bath (BA1 4EH).     Calendar of Intercessions Michaelmas – Advent 2017 to this edition of the prayer diary, following the Feast St Michael and All Angels until the first Sunday of Advent. There are now two Rochester cycles of prayer – ‘parishes’ and ‘extra- Welcome parochial’. This is an attempt to be a little more even handed with the additional groups who are prayed for as the year turns, and to include our church schools in our prayers. As usual, it’s a sizable document but designed to be quick and clear to read, and also to leave space for your own notes. Of course, you do not have to print it all out at once, and you’re welcome to reformat it, if you wish (a Word version is available from my blog, see website below). Sunday entries are designed to look at some of the bigger pictures in our Diocese – sometimes geographical (deaneries, archdeaconries, link dioceses) sometimes issues or activities (Vocations Sunday).     ISLAMIC RADICALIZATION IN THE UK: INDEX OF RADICALIZATION Anna Wojtowicz, (Research Assistant, ICT) Sumer 2012 ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of radicalization amongst British Muslims in the United Kingdom. It begins with a review of the Muslim population, demographics and community structure. Further presenting several internal and external indicators that influenced and led to radicalization of Muslim youth in Britain. The paper concludes that there is no one certainty for what causes radicalization amongst Muslims in United Kingdom. However, it is certain that Islamic radicalization and the emergence of a homegrown threat is a growing trend that jeopardizes the countries security, peace and stability. Radicalization in the United Kingdom is an existing concern that needs to be addressed and acted upon immediately.
