Senior Day on Saturday: Brown will honor its three seniors prior to Saturday’s game against Cornell, recognizing Travis Fuller, Obi Okolie and Chris Sullivan.

The Bears: Brown earned its first Ivy weekend sweep since 2014, defeating Harvard, 88-79, and Dartmouth, 68-65, last week. The win over the Crimson, fueled by 30 points by Desmond Cambridge, was Brown’s first over Harvard since 2009. Brandon Anderson came off the bench to score a season high 21 points in the Bears’ win over the Big Green. The 17 overall wins for the Bears rank second in Brown history, tied with the Bears’ teams in 2001-02 and 2002-03, and behind the school record 19 wins by Brown’s 2007-08 team. Brown, who is tied with Cornell for fourth place in the Ivy standings, leads the in 3-point FG defense (.304), and ranks second in the Ivy League in scoring defense (69.0 ppg) and field goal defense (.418).

About the Lions and Big Red: Columbia (7-17, 2-8 Ivy) split games last week, defeating Penn, 79-77, in overtime and falling to Princeton, 79-61. Lions sophomore Gabe Stefanini is the Ivy League’s sixth leading scorer (14.0 ppg). Cornell (13-13, 5-5 Ivy) was swept last week, losing to Princeton, 68-59, and Penn, 68-50. Big Red senior Matt Morgan is the Ivy League’s leading scorer with 23.0 ppg.

The Brown vs. Columbia Series Record: Brown and Columbia have met 142 times, dating back to 1900-1901, with the Lions holding a 75-67 series advantage. Brown captured a 65-63 win over the Lions earlier this year in New York City behind 22 points from Obi Okolie. The teams split games last year with Columbia capturing the second meeting in New York City, 89-82, on 2/23/18.

The Brown vs. Cornell Series Record: Brown and Cornell will be meeting for the 132nd time, dating back to 1949-1950, with the Big Red holding a 79-52 series advantage. Cornell has earned four straight wins over the Bears, including 70-66 overtime win earlier this year in Ithaca, NY. Brown’s last victory over the Big Red came on 2/3/17, an 81-70 decision in Ithaca.

Obi Okolie – Registers Career Scoring High: Bears’ senior guard Obi Okolie (Ajax, Ontario), who has scored in double figures in each of Brown’s last 12 games, is recognized as one of the top defensive stoppers in the Ivy League and is averaging 11.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Okolie scored 16 points against Harvard and 14 points vs. Dartmouth, but more importantly, shut down the top two three-point shooters in the Ivy League, holding Harvard’s Bryce Aiken and Dartmouth’s Brendan Barry to a combined 2-of-13 in three-point shooting and 9-of-26 shooting from the field. He scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Cornell in Ithaca, and came back with 16 points and five rebounds vs. Columbia in New York City. Okolie exploded for a career high 25 points vs. Penn, hitting 9-of-11 field goals, and then came back with 18 points in Brown’s win over Princeton. He scored a game high 15 points in Brown’s win over Dartmouth and played a pivotal defensive role, and came back with 12 points and eight rebounds vs. Harvard. Okolie netted 14 points in Brown’s Ivy opener vs. Yale and added 10 points in the rematch with the Bulldogs. He scored 12 points, handed out three assists and grabbed four rebounds vs. Johnson & Wales and had 15 points and grabbed four rebounds in Brown’s win over Canisius. He scored 13 points with 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the three-point arc, grabbed four rebounds and handed out five assists in Brown’s win over San Diego State. Okolie tossed in 10 points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting against Marist after scoring 14 points and grabbing five rebounds in Brown’s win over Stony Brook. He found his stroke vs. Butler with 11 points, knocking down a career high three treys on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Okolie had seven rebounds vs. UMass Lowell and scored in double figures vs. Sacred Heart (11 points) and Army (10 points). He had six rebounds vs. and his four assists vs. Bryant led the Bears. Okolie opened the season with 17 points and six rebounds vs. LIU-Brooklyn. Okolie has been a mainstay in the lineup since his freshman season, averaging 9.3 points per game. Fuller Up: Senior forward Travis Fuller (Encinitas, CA) registered a season high nine points vs. Johnson & Wales, while pulling down three rebounds. He scored four points against Army in the Brown Tip-Off Classic. Last year, Fuller earned three starts and posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds against LIU Brooklyn. He finished the season with an average of 3.2 rebounds per game.

Sullivan Takes Leadership Role: Senior guard and two-year team captain Chris Sullivan (Wilmette, IL) is effective coming off the bench to provide a defensive presence for the Bears. Sullivan may have been the difference in Brown’s win over Dartmouth with a career high 13 points, connecting on 5-of-6 field goals, including 3-of-3 from beyond the three-point arc. He tossed in seven points in Brown’s second game vs. Yale, and had four points at home vs. Princeton. Sullivan had three points and three rebounds vs. Stony Brook and netted three points and two rebounds vs. Maine. He knocked down a trey and had two assists vs. Navy, scored four points vs. NJIT and registered 11 points vs. UMass Lowell. Last year, he helped the Bears topple UMass Lowell with 11 points, connecting on 3-of-3 treys. He is the third Sullivan brother to play for Brown, following in the footsteps of brothers Peter ‘11 and Matt ‘13.

Joshua Howard Inside: Junior forward Joshua Howard (Charlotte, NC) leads the Bears in shooting percentage (.542), but has missed Brown’s last four games due to injury. Howard scored 10 points and pulled down a team high five rebounds in Brown’s win over Maine. He tossed in 11 points vs. San Diego State on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, while grabbing five rebounds. Howard scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half on 5-of-6 shooting from the field to help Brown beat Marist. He scored nine points vs. Butler on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Howard had 13 points vs. Navy on 5- of-9 shooting, while pulling down five rebounds and blocking a career high three shots. He tossed in 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds vs. Bryant and added eight points and five rebounds vs. Rhode Island. Howard had 11 points and three rebounds in Brown’s season opener vs. LIU-Brooklyn and came back by matching his career rebounding high with 11 rebounds vs. NJIT. He netted 11 points vs. Salve Regina on 3-of-3 shooting from the field, while grabbing four rebounds. Howard scored 10 points vs. Sacred Heart and just missed a double-double vs. Army with eight points and 10 rebounds. He earned 16 starts for the Bears a year ago and averaged 5.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. His dad, Juwan Howard, was a member of Michigan’s Fab Five and a 22-year NBA player.

Hunsaker In The Backcourt: Junior guard and two-year captain Zach Hunsaker (North Salt Lake City, UT) has started Brown’s last 14 games and is averaging 6.2 ppg overall. Hunsaker netted nine points vs. Penn and came back with 10 points in a win over Princeton, connecting on 3-of-5 field goals. He tossed in 13 points vs. Yale on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, connecting on 3-of-4 treys. Hunsaker scored nine points and handed out five assists in a win over Canisius. He had four rebounds and three assists vs. San Diego State and scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out three assists vs. Stony Brook. Hunsaker netted 10 points and grabbed four rebounds vs. Maine and had seven points and three rebounds in Brown’s win over Marist. He connected on a key trey in Brown’s win over Sacred Heart and netted 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field vs. Army. He tossed in seven points vs. Bryant and nine points vs. Salve Regina. Last year, Hunsaker ranked second on the Brown team in treys (46) and assists (46) and ranked third on the Brown team with 9.7 points per game. Hunsaker, who connected on a coast-to-coast game buzzer beater vs. Dartmouth at the buzzer last year, scored a career high 21 points vs. Bryant last year, knocking down 5-of-10 treys.

Mitchell Contributes: Freshman guard David Mitchell (Roxbury, MA) has seen more playing time than any freshman on the Brown team and is a steady contributor. He tossed in six points and grabbed seven rebounds in Brown’s win at Dartmouth. Mitchell had two points and five rebounds in Brown’s second game vs. Yale. He scored a season high eight points vs. UMass Lowell. Mitchell pulled down a career high eight rebounds in a road win over Canisius. He contributed with seven points against Maine.

Choh – Ivy League’s Leading Rebounder: Sophomore forward Tamenang Choh (Lowell, MA) leads the Ivy League in rebounding (8.9 per game), ranks eighth in FG percentage (.518), 10th in blocked shots (0.9 per game) and sixth in assists (3.2 apg.). His 10.3 rebounds per game in league games leads the Ivy League. Choh posted consecutive double-doubles in Brown’s sweep of Harvard and Dartmouth with 11 points and 10 rebounds vs. the Crimson and 14 points and 11 rebounds vs. the Big Green. He registered a double-double vs. Cornell on the road with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and netted a game high 22 points vs. Columbia. Choh posted a double-double vs. Penn with 11 points and 13 rebounds and then had 16 points and nine rebounds vs. Princeton. He had a big game in Brown’s win over Dartmouth with 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Choh posted back-to- back double-doubles vs. Yale with 18 points and a career high 16 rebounds in the first match-up and then scoring a career high 24 points, while adding 15 rebounds in the second game. He had 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists in 19 minutes vs. Johnson & Wales. Choh had a big game against Canisius, posting a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. He scored 11 points in Brown’s win over Maine. Choh sparked the Bears to a win over San Diego State with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, including 2-of-2 from beyond the three point arc, while grabbing six rebounds and handing out six assists. He dominated Stony Brook with a double-double - 20 points and 12 rebounds. Choh pulled down a game high 10 rebounds vs. Butler, while adding eight points and three assists. He scored eight points, grabbed eight rebounds, handed out four assists and made a career high three steals vs. Navy. Choh posted a double-double performance with 12 points and 13 rebounds vs. Rhode Island. He blocked a career high five shots vs. Bryant, while scoring 12 points against the Bulldogs. Choh was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Brown Tip-Off Classic after scoring 10 points and grabbing nine rebounds vs. Sacred Heart, and coming back with a double- double vs. Army (12 points, 10 rebounds). He scored a team high 13 points vs. Salve Regina and had a big game vs. LIU-Brooklyn with nine points, 12 rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots. Choh scored a team high 17 points against NJIT. Last year, he came on strong down the stretch in a starting role, scoring 23 points, while grabbing nine rebounds in Brown’s final game against Penn. A relentless rebounder, he led the Bears with 5.4 rebounds per game, 7.0 rebounds in conference play.

DeWolf Earns Starting Role: Sophomore forward Matt DeWolf (Barrington, RI) has started 23-of- 24 games for the Bears, and is averaging 2.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He had eight points and five rebounds in Brown’s win over Harvard. DeWolf pulled down five rebounds vs. Cornell in Ithaca and a team high six rebounds vs. Columbia in New York City. He scored a career high 11 points vs. Johnson & Wales, connecting on 4-of-4 field goals, while grabbing six rebounds. He pulled down six rebounds vs. Butler and four rebounds vs. Stony Brook. DeWolf hit all three of his shots in scoring six points vs. Bryant. He had six points and four rebounds vs. Sacred Heart, and six points and six rebounds vs. Army. DeWolf had two points and five rebounds in Brown’s season opener vs. LIU-Brooklyn and came back with six points vs. NJIT. Okolie, Sullivan and Hunsaker Repeat As Brown Basketball Captains: Brown men’s basketball head coach Mike Martin announced that senior Obi Okolie, senior Chris Sullivan and junior Zach Hunsaker have been elected tri-captains of the 2018-19 team for the second straight season.

Cambridge Named To Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List: One of the most dynamic and explosive players in Brown history, sophomore forward Desmond Cambridge (Nashville, TN) was named to the Lou Henson Award mid-season watch list, recognizing the Mid-Major National Player of the Year. Cambridge was also named a Top-10 Mid-Major Prospect to Watch for 2018-19, and was named to the GoLocalProv.com list of 19 Rhode Islanders to Watch in 2019. His 16.1 points per game are fourth in the Ivy League, and he ranks second in the league in blocked shots (1.8 per game) and fourth in 3-point field goals made (2.5). He exploded for 30 points in Brown’s win over Harvard, connecting on 11-of-21 field goals, including 5-of-8 from behind the three-point arc. He also had a season high nine rebounds vs. Dartmouth. Cambridge had 10 points on the road vs. Cornell and 12 points in New York City vs. Columbia, hitting 8-of-9 free throws. He tossed in 21 points at home vs. Penn and had 10 points and three blocked shots in a win over Princeton. Cambridge netted 14 points in Brown’s second game vs. Yale, while grabbing five rebounds. A six-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week, Cambridge, who also earned Second Team All-Ivy honors, ranked third in the Ivy League in overall scoring with 17.3 points per game and second in conference scoring with 18.6 points per game. Christian Berardi Drafted By Brown Basketball Through Team IMPACT: Boston- headquartered national nonprofit Team IMPACT, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing serious and chronic illnesses through the power of a team, along with Men’s Basketball, held a special Draft Day celebration for 7-year-old Christian Berardi of North Providence, RI on November 13 at the . Christian was diagnosed in 2014 with Eosphilic Esophagitis and Malignant Hyperthermia. Through Team IMPACT's program at Brown, the top recruit will become an official member of the men’s basketball team. As a team member, Christian will attend the Bears’ practices, games, team dinners, events, and more.

Brandon Anderson – 10th in Ivy League Steals: Junior guard Brandon Anderson (Mahwah, NJ) ranks 10th in the Ivy League with 1.2 steals per game and 12th with 2.5 assists per game. Anderson had a big weekend in Brown’s sweep of Harvard and Dartmouth, scoring13 points vs. the Cromson and a season high 21 points against the Big Green. He provided a spark coming off the bench vs. Columbia, scoring six points and grabbing two rebounds. Anderson, who had eight points in Brown’s first game vs. Yale, tossed in nine points in Brown’s win over Canisius. He hit 6-of-6 free throws in scoring eight points against Maine. Anderson scored nine points vs. San Diego State and had five points and five assists vs. Marist. He matched his career high with seven assists vs. Navy while adding 10 points. Anderson opened the season by scoring 17 points and handing out four assists vs. LIU-Brooklyn. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Brown Tip-Off Classic after scoring 12 points vs. UMass Lowell, 10 points vs. Sacred Heart and a game high 16 points vs. Army. Mawanda-Kalema Earns Career Scoring High: Sophomore guard George Mawanda-Kalema (Burke, VA), who is averaging 8.4 ppg in Ivy games, tossed in 14 points vs. Cornell on 4-of-5 shooting from the field. Mawanda-Kalema netted eight points in Brown’s win over Harvard and added six points vs. Dartmouth. He exploded for a career high 19 points in Brown’s win over Princeton, connecting on 8-of-13 field goals, and had six points vs. Penn. Mawanda-Kalema saw his first significant playing time in Brown’s games vs. Dartmouth and Harvard. He had a seven point spurt vs. Dartmouth that changed the game in Brown’s favor, and came back with a 14 points vs. Harvard. Mawanda-Kalema, who missed all but one game last year due to injury had previously scored 11 points vs. Salve Regina.

Head Coach Mike Martin: Former Brown basketball standout Mike Martin ’04, the 31st head men’s basketball coach in the program’s 111-year history, has changed the direction and culture of the program in six years as head coach of the Bears, with the building blocks in place to develop an Ivy Championship team. He has assembled a young and talented 2018-19 squad that includes Desmond Cambridge, last year’s Ivy League Rookie of the Year, and set a new school record for non-league wins (12). Martin took over the reins of the program in 2012-13 and was named a finalist for the Joe B. Hall Award as the nation's outstanding first-year head coach after leading the Bears to a turnaround season with a 13-15 overall record, including a fourth-place finish in the Ivy standings with a 7-7 mark after winning four of its last five games. Martin's 2013-14 team posted a 15-14 overall record and hosted Brown's first-ever postseason game, playing Holy Cross in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament at the Pizzitola Sports Center. In addition, he guided two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year Cedric Kuakumensah, the Ivy League’s all-time leader in blocked shots. A four-year starter at Brown, Martin was part of the winningest class in Bears' basketball history, posting a 63-45 four-year record from 2000-04. He also helped the Class of 2004 to a school-record 39-17 Ivy League mark during that period -- the best by an Ivy League team, other than Penn and Princeton, since 1970. An Agawam, Mass., native, Martin launched his coaching career at Brown as an assistant coach in 2005-06, and was an assistant coach at Penn from 2006-12.

First Career Points: Four different Brown players scored for the first time in their careers vs. Salve Regina – freshman Thomas Shaughnessy (7), sophomore Jake Shaper (4), freshman Jaylan Gainey (4) and freshman Davis Franks (2). Gainey went on to record season highs of 12 points and six rebounds against Johnson & Wales.

Newcomers: Coach Martin welcomes four talented newcomers to College Hill, including 6-8 freshman forward Davis Franks (New York, NY), 6-9 freshman forward Jaylan Gainey (Goldsboro, NC), 6-6 freshman guard David Mitchell (Roxbury, MA) and 6-0 freshman guard Thomas Shaughnessy (Needham, MA).

Ivy League Tournament: The 2019 Ivy League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held on the campus of at the John J. Lee Amphitheater at Payne Whitney Gymnasium March 16 and 17. The League’s unique tournament format has enhanced the importance of the regular season as seven of the eight squads had an opportunity to earn a berth into the four- team tournament heading into the final week of the regular season.

Game #1 Brown at LIU-Brooklyn November 9, 2018 Brooklyn, NY Jashaun Agosto connected on two free throws with one second remaining to lift defending Northeast Conference Champion LIU-Brooklyn to an 83-81 come-from-behind win over Brown Friday evening in the season opener for the Bears. The Blackbirds won their second game of the season without a loss, while Brown falls to 0-1. Brown held a 79-76 lead with 1:57 remaining in the game following a basket by junior Zach Hunsaker. LIU- Brooklyn went on a 5-0 run to pull ahead, 81-79, on two free throws by Eral Penn and a three-point play by Julian Batts with 1:08 remaining. Bears’ senior Obi Okolie connected on a layup on a pass from sophomore Tamenang Choh, tying the game, 81- 81, with 46 seconds left on the clock. Agosto was fouled by Choh with one second left and sank the two free throws. Brown was able to call timeout at mid-court with .8 seconds remaining, but sophomore Desmond Cambridge (Nashville, TN) was unable to connect on a trey at the buzzer. There were 54 fouls whistled in the foul-marred game. Brown connected on 19-of-31 free throws, while the Blackbirds converted 25-of-36 free throws. Nine different Brown players scored points, led by junior Brandon Anderson and Okolie with 17 points each. Okolie connected on 4-of-4 field goals, including 3-of-3 treys, and 6-of-8 free throws. Cambridge was in foul trouble throughout the game and finished with 13 points and four blocked shots. Junior Josh Howard also scored in double figures for the Bears with 11 points. Choh just missed a double-double with nine points and a game high 12 rebounds. Batts paced four LIU double figure scorers with a game high 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field. Raiquan Clark had 14 points, while Agosto finished with 12 points. The Bears struggled early in the game, falling behind by as many as 15 points in the first half, 39-24, on a dunk by Raul Frias with 5:13 remaining in the half. Brown shook off the rust and out-scored the Blackbirds 16-4 to end the half and trail, 43-40, at intermission. Okolie scored nine first half points, while Cambridge added eight points to pace the Bears. Sophomore Matt DeWolf’s layup at the 18:37 mark of the second half gave Brown a 46-45 lead. The Bears continued to have the better of play and pulled ahead by a 60-50 margin on two free throws by Chris Sullivan with 11:57 left. Two free throws by Anderson with 5:47 remaining gave Brown its biggest lead, 75-64. The Blackbirds clawed back with a 12-2 run and pulled to within one point, 77-76, with 2:28 left.

Game #2 Brown at NJIT November 11, 2018 Newark, NJ Diandre Wilson registered a game high 20 points and scored the game’s last five points, including the game-winning basket with 26 seconds remaining, to lift NJIT to a 63-60 win over Brown Sunday afternoon at the Wellness and Events Center. The game was tied, 58-58, with 2:00 remaining on a steal and layup by Bears’ junior Brandon Anderson. Brown then grabbed a 60-58 advantage on a layup by sophomore Tamenang Choh with 1:27 left on the clock. Wilson tied the game, 60-60, with 1:10 left to play and gave NJIT the lead for good, 62-60, on a layup with 26 seconds left on the clock. He connected on a free throw with eight seconds remaining for a 63-60 lead. Bears’ senior Obi Okolie had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but his trey was off the mark. Choh paced the Bears with 17 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Desmond Cambridge, last year’s Ivy League Rookie of the Year, was held to nine points, but missed several minutes of play due to cramping. Anderson and Okolie each finished with seven points for Brown, while junior Joshua Howard had six points and matched his career high with 11 rebounds. Wilson’s 20 points came on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. Mohammed Bendary also scored in double figures for the Highlanders with 10 points. Brown fell behind by 10 points at the half, 37-27, hitting just 7-of-25 field goals. Choh’s 10 first half points led all scorers. The Highlanders led by as many as 11 points in the second half, 41-30, with 17.21 remaining on a trey by Bebdary. Brown got back in the game and trailed by two points, 48-46, on a Choh layup with 9:07 remaining. After NJIT went back up by six points, 52-46, the Bears answered with an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the half, 54-52, on a trey by Okolie, who had five of the eight points in the run.

Game #3 UMass Lowell at Brown November 16, 2018 Providence, RI Sophomore Desmond Cambridge scored a game high 23 points to lead Brown to its first win of the young season, 82-74, over UMass Lowell on the first day of the Brown Bear Tip-Off Classic at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Cambridge connected on 8-of-21 field goals and 6-of-9 free throws in scoring 23 points. He also grabbed five rebounds and blocked two shots. Junior Brandon Anderson and senior Chris Sullivan also scored in double figures for the Bears, with Anderson registering 12 points and Sullivan 11 points. Bears’ freshman David Mitchell scored a career high eight points. The River Hawks had four double figure scorers, paced by Obadiah Noel with 17 points and Josh Glantz with 16 points. Christian Lutete paced both teams with nine rebounds for UMass Lowell. Brown connected on 22-of-33 free throws and UMass Lowell converted 13-of-19 shots from the line. The Bears won the turnover battle, turning the River Hawks over 23 times, while being forced into 19 turnovers. The Bears held a 29-28 lead with 4:35 left in the opening half before exploding with a 16-2 run to end the half to grab a 45-30 halftime advantage. Sullivan connected on 3-of-3 treys and both free throws to score 11 first half points for the Bears. The River Hawks came storming back in the second half and cut Brown’s lead to four points, 49-45, on a basket by Darius Henderson with 14:28 left in the game. Brown quickly took control once again and built its lead back up to 13 points, 63-50, with 10:16 remaining on a layup by Zach Hunsaker. The Bears led for double digits for most of the remaining minutes with the River Hawks getting back to within seven points, 77-70, with 1:12 left on a Glantz layup. Anderson scored five points down the stretch to ice the game for the Bears.

Game #4 Sacred Heart at Brown November 17, 2018 Providence, RI Sophomore guard Desmond Cambridge scored a game-high 25 points to lead five Bears in double figures as Brown University men’s basketball defeated , 82-77, on Saturday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center in the 2018 Brown Bears Tip-Off Classic. The Bears gained a 42-28 lead at halftime, did not trail in the second half, and held off a late rally from the visiting Pioneers behind three jump shots from Cambridge and a 3-pointer from junior guard Zach Hunsaker inside of the final 2:30. Cambridge netted his 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor and has averaged 24.0 points per game through the first two days of the Tip-Off Classic. He hit three clutch mid-range jumpers in a 70-second span down the stretch as SHU pulled as close as one point. Sophomore forward Tamenang Choh totaled 10 points, nine rebounds, and a career-high seven assists while senior guard Obi Okolie scored 11 points, connecting on 3-of-4 shots from 3-point distance and 2-of-2 free throws. Junior guard Brandon Anderson and junior forward Joshua Howard tallied 10 points apiece. Anderson made 2-of-3 shots from behind the arc. Okolie and Cambridge each hit early 3-pointers, and four points from sophomore forward Matt DeWolf staked the Bears to a 12-9 edge. A dunk from Cambridge, triple from Okolie, and two baskets from Howard extended the lead to 23-16 at the 10:44 mark of the first half. Cambridge, Anderson, and sophomore guard George Mawanda-Kalema all hit 3-pointers as part of a 13-5 run that gave Brown a 36-24 edge. The Bears gained their largest lead of the game at 42-26 and remained ahead 42-28 at the break. An alley-oop dunk from Cambridge made the score 53-39 early in the second half, and a layup from freshman forward David Mitchell kept Brown ahead, 57-43 with 11:15 remaining. SHU then used an 11-0 run in 1:20 to whittle the margin to 57-54 with 9:42 left. Five straight points from Cambridge bumped the lead back to 64-57 with 8:14 to go. With Brown still leading 69-68, Cambridge hit a trio of jumpers to keep the Bears ahead 77-72 with 1:03 on the clock. With 16 seconds left, a 3- pointer from Hunsaker – his only points of the game – hung on the rim before falling through to push Brown ahead 80-76. For Sacred Heart, E.J. Anosike compiled a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds, Jare’l Spellman posted 16 points and six boards, and Aaron Clarke netted 16 points.

Game #5 Army at Brown November 18, 2018 Providence, RI Brown won its third straight game at the 2018 Brown Bears Tip-Off Classic, earning an 86-66 win over Army Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Junior Brandon Anderson paced five double figure scorers for the Bears with 16 points. The Bears won all three of their games in the three-day Brown Bears Tip-Off Classic and sophomore Desmond Cambridge was named the Tournament MVP. Anderson and sophomore Tamenang Choh were also named to the All- Tournament Team for the Bears. “This was a good one for us and a great way to finish the weekend,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin. “I feel good about our play for the full 40 minute. We were strong at the free throw line and we had a really good offensive weekend because of the play of our guards.” Brown converted 23-of-32 free throws, while Army connected on just 5-of-9 shots from the line. The Bears also had a decided advantage on the backboards, out-rebounding Army by a 50-33 margin. Anderson connected on 4-of-8 field goals for the Bears, including 3-of-5 treys, while converting 5-of-6 free goals. Cambridge completed a big weekend with 13 points, four rebounds and three blocked shots. Choh posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Zach Hunsaker scored 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field with two treys. Senior Obi Okolie was Brown’s fifth double figure scorer with 10 points, and junior Josh Howard had eight points and 10 rebounds. Army was paced by Tommy Funk, who scored 15 points and handed out five assists. Matt Wilson added 14 points and was named to the All-Tournament team for the Cadets. Brown led from start-to-finish and built a 20 point lead at intermission, 46-26. The Bears finished the half with a 15-4 run, sparked by Hunsaker, who scored Brown’s last seven points of the half. The Bears led by as many as 27 points in the second half, 61-34, with 14:29 remaining, on a steal and a layup by Hunsaker.

Game #6 Salve Regina at Brown November 21, 2018 Providence, RI Sophomore Tamenang Choh scored 13 points to pace 14 different Brown scorers, leading the Bears to their fourth straight win, 96-64, over Salve Regina on Thanksgiving Eve at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Brown (4-2) led from start to finish with Choh scoring nine of his 13 points in the opening half, while connecting on 5-of-6 field goals and two free throws. “We did some really good things on the court and I’m happy everyone had a chance to play,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin. “We have a lot of talent on the team with a deep roster who can play.” Three Brown players scored 11 points each including junior Brandon Anderson, who also handed out a game high five assists, junior Joshua Howard, who added four rebounds, and sophomore George Mawanda-Kalema. Freshman David Mitchell pulled down a career high seven rebounds to help the Bears to a 36-32 rebounding advantage over the Seahawks. Brown’s height advantage was manifested at the free throw line where the Bears connected on 19-of-29 free throws and Salve Regina shot 11-of-16 from the line. The Bears also handed out a season high 22 assists on 32 baskets. “I’m pleased with how we shared the ball,” added Martin. “Our goal is to make the extra pass, move the ball and look for the open man.” Salve Regina (2-3) had three double-figure scorers with Cameron Collins leading the way with a game high 21 points. Jonathan Friberg and Kevin Kelly added 14 points each for the Seahawks. The Bears jumped out to a 50-28 lead at the half with balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Desmond Cambridge and Choh scored nine points each, while Howard and Anderson added eight points apiece by intermission. Brown led by as many as 33 points in the second half, 94-61, on a trey by freshman Thomas Shaughnessy with 1:57 remaining.

Game #7 Bryant at Brown November 25, 2018 Providence, RI Sophomore Desmond Cambridge scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots to lead Brown to its fifth straight win, 84-60, over Bryant at the Pizzitola Sports Center Sunday evening. The Bears out-rebounded the Bulldogs by a wide margin, 45-36, while blocking a season high 10 shots. Brown’s defense held the Bulldogs to 20-percent (5-of-24) shooting from beyond the three point arc. Overall, the Bears shot a torrid 55-percent, connecting on 31-of-56 field goals, while holding Bryant to 29- percent (21-of-72) shooting from the field. “That was our best defensive performance all year,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin. “Obi Okolie really contributed as a defensive stopper. It’s a team effort and Obi plays with discipline and knows our system. We have length and good physical ability, and Desmond and Tamenang (Choh) really protected the rim.” Cambridge’s 19 points came on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 shooting from the free throw line. Choh rejected a career high five shots for the Bears, while adding 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, and grabbing six rebounds. Brown junior Joshua Howard came off the bench to score 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, and paced the Bears with eight rebounds. Bears’ junior Brandon Anderson also scored in double figures with 12 points, connecting on 4-of-6 field goals. Okolie had six points and a game high four assists. Bryant’s Adam Grant led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Bryon Hawkins (12 points) and Joe Kasperzyk (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Bulldogs. Brown opened up a 16-6 lead to open the game, completing the run with a trey by Howard just 6:20 into the game. After Bryant made consecutive baskets to trail, 16-10, Brown broke the game open with a 14-0 run to take a 30-10 advantage following two free throws by Okolie with 6:05 left in the half. A free throw by Choh gave the Bears their largest lead of the half, 37-16, but Bryant closed the half with five straight points to trail, 37-21, at intermission. Game #8 Brown at Rhode Island November 28, 2018 Kingston, RI Cyril Langevine registered a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds to lead the University of Rhode Island to a 71-51 win over Brown at the Ryan Center Wednesday evening, snapping the Bears’ five game winning streak. Rhode Island improves to 3-2 on the season, while Brown falls to 5-3. Both teams struggled from beyond the 3-point arc, with Brown connecting on just 5-of-29 treys (17-percent) and the Rams converting 3-of-23 treys (13-percent). The Rams out-rebounds the Bears by a 53-40 margin, including 21 offensive rebounds, led by Langevine’s 12 offensive boards. “This place (Ryan Center) hasn’t been good to us,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin. “Rhode Island made it difficult for us at both ends of the court, and we don’t play against URI’s length very often. We can be better and we will be better.” Bears’ sophomore Tamenang Choh posted his second double-double of the season with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, while grabbing a career high 13 rebounds. Junior Brandon Anderson chipped in with nine points for Brown, while junior Joshua Howard added eight points, four rebounds and three steals. The Bears improve to 6-3 with their first road win of the season, while Navy falls to 2-5. “We certainly defended them well for the entire game,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin. “A lot of guys contributed and we shared the ball extremely well with 20 assists on 27 baskets.” Cambridge put on a show with a wide array of treys and dunks, connecting on 12-of-18 field goals, including 5- of-11 treys. He also pulled down seven rebounds and handed out three assists. “Desmond was hot early and his teammates did a good job of freeing him and finding him,” added Martin. “He played with confidence and was aggressive on both ends of the court.” Junior Joshua Howard also scored in double figures for Brown with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, while grabbing five rebounds and blocking three shots. Bears’ junior Brandon Anderson scored 10 points and matched his career high with seven assists, and Tamenang Choh contributed with eight points and a game high eight rebounds. Defensively, Brown held Navy to just 25-percent shooting from the field (14-of-54) and continued to defend the 3-point line, holding the Midshipmen to 29-percent shooting from beyond the arc (7-of-24). John Carter and Cam Davis each scored 11 points to lead the Midshipmen. Cambridge had the hot hand in the early minutes, scoring 13 of Brown’s first 17 points for a 17-11 Brown lead at the 10:46 mark. The Bears extended their lead to 15 points, 32-17, on a 3-point basket by Howard with 1:08 left in the half. Back- to-back treys by Navy’s Cam Davis, the second from mid-court at the buzzer, cut Brown’s lead to 32-23 at the half. Brown broke the game open in the first four minutes of the second half, out-scoring the Midshipmen, 13-2, for a 45-25 advantage following a trey by Cambridge. The Bears led by as many as 24 points in the second half, 55-31, on a Howard layup with 12:06 remaining.

Game #10 Brown at Butler December 5, 2018 Indianapolis, IN Paul Jorgensen scored a game high 19 points to lead Butler to a 70-55 win over Brown at Hinkle Fieldhouse and extend the Bulldogs’ consecutive non-league home court winning streak to 47 games. The Bulldogs improve to 6-2 on the season, while Brown falls to 6-4. Brown was paced by sophomore Desmond Cambridge, who had 15 points and four rebounds, but was able to convert just 5-of-16 field goals. Senior Obi Okolie also scored in double figures for Brown with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field, including 3-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc. Junior Josh Howard chipped in with nine points, connecting on 4-of-6 field goals. Sophomore Tamenang Choh, the Ivy League’s leading rebounder, pulled down a game high 10 rebounds to help Brown to a 35-33 rebounding advantage over the Bulldogs. He finished with eight points. When the Bears look back at the game film, they’ll see open shots throughout the game that weren’t converted. After shooting just 21-percent (6-of-28) in the opening 20 minutes with long range shots, Brown settled down to shoot 52- percent (14-of-27) from the field in the second half. “Butler made it hard on us to get to the paint, especially in the first half, but we hurt ourselves with a lack of execution of our offense,” said Bears’ head coach Mike Martin. “When we ran some better offense in the second half we were able to score inside.” Jorgensen’s 19 points came on 7-of-15 shooting, while grabbing five rebounds. Kamir Baldwin and Henry Baddley tossed in 12 points each for the Bulldogs. The ice cold Bears fell behind 25-8 at the outset of the game, shooting 12-percent (2-16) from the field in the opening 12 minutes. While the Bears shot the ball better in the final eight minutes, they fell behind 36-17 at intermission. Cambridge had six points at the half to pace the Bears. Brown settled down in the second half with ball-movement and improved shooting, cutting Butler’s lead to 14 points, 51-37, on a layup by freshman David Mitchell with 10:40 remaining. A Cambridge free throws with 37 seconds left enabled the Bears to trail, 67-53.

Game #11 Stony Brook at Brown December 8, 2018 Providence, RI Brown sophomore Tamenang Choh posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead Brown to a 71-69 win over Stony Brook at the Pizzitola Sports Center, snapping the Seawolves’ five game winning streak. Two Stony Brook players fouled out in the game that had 50 fouls called. Brown out-rebounded Stony Brook by a 46-31 margin, led by Choh’s 12 carroms. Brown led for nearly 25 minutes, but the game tightened in the last two minutes. A seven point Brown lead with 1:58 remaining dwindled to two points, 66-64, after a trey by Stony Brook’s Miles Latimer with 1:04 left on the clock. Choh answered with a layup to give the Bears a 68-64 advantage, but Stony Brook battled back and cut the Bears’ lead to 68-66 with 19 remaining on a layup by Akwasi Yeboah. Choh connected on one of two free throws with 17.5 seconds remaining for a 69-66 Brown advantage, but Yeboah converted two free throws with 10.1 seconds left to trail, 69-68. Bears’ sophomore Desmond Cambridge iced the game by hitting both free throws with 4.4 seconds remaining to give Brown a 71-68 lead. Leading by three points, Brown’s Chris Sullivan fouled Seawolves’ guard Jaron Cornish with 1.1 seconds left to put him at the free throw line. Cornish hit the first free throw and intentionally missed the second that was rebounded by Cambridge as the final buzzer sounded. Choh paced four double figure Brown scorers by connecting on 6-of-10 field goals and 8-of-15 free throws in posting his third double-double of the season. Cambridge swatted away a career high five shots, while scoring 16 points. Bears’ senior Obi Okolie had 14 points and five rebounds, while junior Zach Hunsaker had 10 points and three assists. Yeboah was in foul trouble throughout, but managed to score 23 points and grab six rebounds for Stony Brook. Anthony Ochefu had 13 points for the Seawolves and Latimer chipped in with 11 points. Trailing, 19-11, with 12:25 left in the half, Brown went on a 16-4 surge to take control of the half. With the score tied, 23-23, seven straight points by Okolie lifted the Bears to a 30-23 lead with 2:58 remaining. The Bears settled on a 35-30 lead at the half on a Josh Howard layup with 19 seconds remaining. Stony Brook pulled to within a point of the Bears, 55-54, but the Bears out-scored the Seawolves, 9-1, over the next 2:43 to pulled ahead, 64-55, on a layup by Choh with 4:26 left on the clock.

Game #12 Brown at Marist December 22, 2018 Poughkeepsie, NY Sophomore Desmond Cambridge scored a game high 30 points by knocking down six treys to lead Brown (8-4) to a 78- 53 win over Marist (5-6) at the McCann Center Saturday afternoon. The Bears’ eighth non-league win of the season is one short of the school record of nine non-league victories by Brown teams in 2001-02, 2014-15 and 2016-17. The Bears shot 52-percent from the field (30-of-57), while holding Marist to 32-percent shooting (18-of-56). Brown forced 16 Marist turnovers and held the Red Foxes to their lowest scoring output of the season (53 points). Cambridge put on a show with a wide array of treys, turn-around jump shots and drives to the basket, connecting on 12-of-18 field goals, including 6-of-11 treys, in scoring his 30 points. He seems to save his best for the Red Foxes, having scored a career high 33 points against Marist a year ago. Junior Joshua Howard added 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, while senior Obi Okolie had 10 points, hitting all four of his field goal attempts. Bears’ freshman David Mitchell grabbed a team high five rebounds. Marist was paced by Aleksander Dozik with 16 points and a game high seven rebounds. Coming off a 14-day break for exams, Brown looked sluggish from the opening tip, falling behind 7-0. The Bears quickly countered with an 11-2 run to pull ahead, 11-9, on a basket by Okolie. With the score tied, 17-17, Brown went on a 13-4 run to grab its largest lead of the half, 30-21, on a free throw by Okolie with 1:12 remaining. A three-point play by Marist’s Austin William cut Brown’s lead to 30-24 at intermission. Brown opened the second half with a 10-3 run behind eight points by Cambridge to lead, 40-27, at the 17:43 mark. Marist cut Brown’s lead to 10 points, 45-35, on a Williams layup at the 14:20 mark. The Bears broke the game open with a 16-0 run over the next 4:10 minutes, taking a 61-35 advantage on a trey by junior Zach Hunsaker with 10:17 remaining in the game. Brown out-scored Marist 48-29 in the second half to cruise to the win.

Game #13 Brown at San Diego State December 29, 2018 San Diego, CA Brown utilized a 26-0 first half run to build a 50-22 halftime lead and cruise to an 82-61 win over San Diego State behind the play of Bears’ sophomore Desmond Cambridge, who scored 16 of his game high 25 points in the opening half. “Everyone on our team has been impressive over the last two weeks,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin. “The game really turned on the 26-0 run and the ball went in the basket. Our guys have really bought into our defensive effort. It’s a fun group to coach.” Cambridge’s 25 points came on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, while connecting on seven treys for the second straight game, converting 7-of-11 3-point field goals. His seven treys are eighth best in Brown basketball history. Sophomore Tamenang Choh also had a big game for the Bears with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and a game high six rebounds. Senior Obi Okolie tossed in 13 points for the Bears, while junior Joshua Howard chipped in with 11 points on 4- of-6 shooting from the field. The Aztecs were paced by projected NBA first round pick Jalen McDaniels with 19 points and six rebounds. The Bears had the better of play at the game’s outset, building a 19-7 lead on a layup by Choh at the 14:07 mark on 7-of-11 early shooting from the field. Brown kept up the pressure and held a 24-12 lead on a trey by sophomore Brandon Anderson with 10:06 left in the half. An 8-0 run by the Aztecs cut Brown’s lead to 24-20, but the Bears came storming back with a 26-0 spurt for a 50-20 advantage on a layup by Okolie with 1:19 left in the half. The Aztecs broke a nearly 12-minute scoring drought just before the end of the half on a dunk by Aguek Arop with 29 seconds remaining to cut Brown’s lead to 50-22 at the half. Cambridge knocked down consecutive treys early in the second half for a 58-24 Brown lead and put the game out of reach. San Diego State chipped away at the Brown lead, but could get no closer than a 20-point second half deficit.

Game #14 Maine at Brown January 2, 2019 Providence, RI Brown stayed undefeated at home and posted its school record 10th non-league win with a hard fought 75-67 win over Maine at the Pizzitola Sports Center behind sophomore Desmond Cambridge, who scored 13 of his team high 19 points in the opening half. The Bears, winners of 10 of their last 12 games, improve to 10-4 overall, including six straight home wins to open the season, while Maine falls to 2-13 overall. “I’m certainly glad we won,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin. “We let our guard down in the second half and Maine hurt us in the paint. When we play with passion and spirit we can play with anyone, but we have to sustain that level for 40 minutes. Winning 10 non-conference games is terrific for our program.” Getting the 10th non-league win certainly wasn’t easy for the Bears. Brown led by 14 points at the half, 38-24, and by as many as 19 points in the second half, 53-34, on back-to-back treys by Cambridge and junior Zach Hunsaker at the 14:54 mark. Maine came storming back with a 29-12 run and pulled to within two points, 65-63, on a three-point play by Andrew Fleming with 2:45 left in the game. A 6-0 Brown run behind two free throws by sophomore Tamenang Choh, two more by senior Obi Okolie and a layup by Joshua Howard extended Brown’s lead to 71-63 with 48-seconds remaining, putting the game out of reach. The Bears connected on 19-of-20 free throws for the game, including 8-of-8 in the final 2:15. Maine converted 15-of-23 free throws. Cambridge had 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field, while Hunsaker finished with 10 points and four rebounds. Choh added 11 points for the Bears, while Howard had 10 points and a team high five rebounds. Bears’ junior Brandon Anderson finished with eight points, connecting on all four of his free throws in the final 39 seconds. Fleming’s 21 points paced three Black Bears in double figures, connecting on 7-of-14 field goals and grabbing seven rebounds. Isaiah White (20 points) and Sergio El Darwich (15 points) also scored in double figures for the Black Bears. Brown held Maine scoreless for the game’s first five minutes and built a 19-3 lead following a trey by senior Chris Sullivan with 12:17 left in the opening half. The Black Bears came roaring back and cut Brown’s lead to eight points, 28-20, with 4:08 remaining in the half on a layup by El Darwich. Brown led by 14 points at the half when Cambridge hit a 40-foot trey at the buzzer for a 38-24 lead at intermission.

Game #15 Brown at Canisius January 8, 2019 Buffalo, NY Sophomore Desmond Cambridge scored 21 of his game high 31 points in the second half and overtime to lift Brown to its fifth straight win, 97-90, over Canisius at the Koessler Athletic Center. Brown improves to 11-4 overall, extending its school record for non-league wins, while Canisius falls to 5-9 overall. Bears’ sophomore forward Tamenang Choh sent the game into overtime, 84-84, by scoring on a driving layup with just two seconds remaining in regulation. In overtime, Brown trailed by two points at the outset, but took the lead for good, 88-86, on a layup by senior Obi Okolie. The Bears led by as many as eight points, 95-87, on another Okolie layup. After a trey by Golden Griffins’ guard Takal Molson cut Brown’s lead to 95-90, Cambridge hit two free throws to put the game out of reach, 97-90, with 17 seconds remaining in the extra period. Cambridge scored 30 or more points for the second time this season and fourth time in his career, netting 31 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field, including 7-of-13 from beyond the 3-point arc. He connected on seven treys for the second time this season which rank eighth in the Brown record book. Choh posted a double-double for the Bears with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Okolie scored 15 points on 6- of-10 shooting from the field. Junior Zach Hunsaker chipped in with nine points and a game high five assists, while junior Brandon Anderson also scored nine points. Malik Johnson scored a team high 19 points to lead four Canisius players in double figures. Molson had 18 points and both Scott Hitchon and Isaiah Reese scored 15 points for the Golden Griffins. Brown trailed by as many as eight points in the opening half, 32-24, with 5:45 remaining following two free throws by Hitchon. The Bears clawed back with an 8-0 run to tie the game, 32-32, on an Anderson free throw with 2:14 left in the half. After a brief 3-0 run by the Golden Griffins, Okolie’s trey with 57 seconds remaining tied the game, 35- 35. Two late free throws by Isaiah Molson gave Canisius a 37-35 lead at the half. A three-point barrage by both teams to open the second half culminated in a 52-45 Brown lead at the 16:20 mark, with Cambridge connecting on four consecutive treys without a miss. The Bears pulled ahead, 58-48, on a jump shot by Cambridge, and layups by Choh and Joshua Howard with 14:09 remaining. The Golden Griffins quickly recovered with a 9-0 run, sparked by two treys by Reese, to trail, 58-57, with 12:28 left in the game. With Brown clinging to a 79-78 advantage in regulation, Hunsaker connected on a free throw and Cambridge scored on a reverse layup with 1:10 remaining to give Brown an 82-78 lead. Canisius cut the Bears’ lead to 82-81 on a trey by Reese with 50.8 seconds left on the clock. A trey by Johnson gave the Golden Griffins an 84-82 lead, with 16 seconds left. Choh then sent the game into overtime for the Bears by connecting on a driving layup with two seconds remaining.

Game #16 Johnson & Wales at Brown January 14, 2019 Providence, RI In its final tune-up before opening of the Ivy League season on Saturday, Brown sophomore Desmond Cambridge scored 18 points to pace five double figure scorers, enabling the Bears to extend their winning streak to six games with a 100-61 win over Johnson & Wales Monday evening at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Bears, winners of 12 of their last 14 games, improve to 12-4 overall, the most non-league wins in Brown history, while the Wildcats fall to 7-10 overall. Brown has won eight straight home games to open the season. Cambridge led 12 Brown players in the scoring column by shooting a dazzling 6-of-9 from the field, including 5- of-7 from beyond the three point arc, while adding four rebounds and two blocked shots in 19 minutes of play. Bears’ senior Obi Okolie scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds, while sophomore Tamenang Choh had 11 points, a team high seven rebounds, five assists and a career best three steals. Sophomore Matt DeWolf scored a career high 11 points for the Bears on perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the field, while adding six rebounds. Freshman Jaylan Gainey scored a career high 12 points, hitting 3-of-3 field goals with a career best six rebounds. Johnson & Wales was paced by Matt Madoian, who scored 23 of his game-high 29 points in the second half, connecting on 11-of-23 field goals, including 7-of-16 treys. Brian Hogan-Gary posted a double-double for the Wildcats with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Cambridge scored 12 of Brown’s opening 17 points to give the Bears a 17-8 lead and control of the game. Brown quickly built its lead to 17 points, 27-10, on a jump shot by senior Travis Fuller with 13:20 remaining. Fuller finished the game with nine points. The Bears’ largest lead of the half came at intermission when Okolie scored on a layup with 13 seconds left on the clock. Brown kept up the pressure in the second half, clearing the bench and leading by as many as 42 points, 87-45, on a layup by Davis Franks with 8:18 left in the game.

Game #17 Yale at Brown January 19, 2019 Providence, RI Brown’s late game rally came up short in its Ivy League opener against Yale, 70-67, falling at home for the first time this season and having its six game winning streak go by the wayside. The Bears, who had won their first eight home games to open the season, fall to 12-5 overall, 0-1 in the Ivy League, while Yale improves to 11-3 overall, 1-0 in Ivy play. Brown sophomore forward Tamenang Choh was the dominant player on the court, posting his fifth double- double of the season with 18 points and a career high 16 rebounds. He connected on 9-of-15 field goals overall. Brown fell behind by nine points in the second half, 67-58, with 2:20 left in the game following a layup by Yale’s Jordan Bruner. The Bears clawed back on two free throws by Brandon Anderson, a layup by Choh, and an Anderson layup with 33 seconds remaining to pull to within four points, 68-64, with 33 seconds left. Brown’s David Mitchell tied-up Yale’s Miye Oni, forcing a jump ball with 30 ticks left on the clock to give Brown possession. Bears’ senior Obi Okolie connected on a trey from the corner with 13 seconds remaining to trail, 68- 67. On the inbound pass, Oni sprang loose on a long pass from Jordan Bruner and put the Bulldogs up by three points with a dunk, 70-67, with nine seconds left in the game. Brown had two chances to tie the game in the waning moments. First, Bears’ junior Zach Hunsaker was unable to convert a trey at the top of the arc with 2.5 seconds remaining. After review, the ball was deemed out of bounds with 0.8 seconds left. The inbound pass went to Bears’ sophomore Desmond Cambridge, who had an open look from the corner, but his trey just missed as time expired. Hunsaker tossed in 13 points, connecting on 5-of-7 field goals, including 3-of-4 treys. Okolie also scored in double figures for the Bears with 14 points. Cambridge, the Ivy League’s third leading scorer, was held to seven points on 3-of-18 shooting from the field, while grabbing eight rebounds and blocking three shots. Alex Copeland paced four double figure scorers for the Bulldogs with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field. Oni, Blake Reynolds and Paul Atkinson each scored 11 points. Bruner had nine points and a team high 11 rebounds. The opening 20 minutes were played at a frenetic pace with six lead changes. The Bulldogs led by as many as eight points, 12-4, in the early going, and Brown held a three point lead, 31-28, following a layup by Okolie with 2:26 left in the half. A 9-2 run to close the half, sparked by four points by Alex Copeland, gave the Bulldogs a 37-33 lead at intermission. Brown grabbed a 52-48 lead with 12:13 left in the game on a layup by sophomore Matt DeWolf. The lead was quickly extinguished by Yale with an 8-0 run to pull ahead, 56-52, taking a four point lead on a trey by Azar Swain. Yale closed out a 16-4 streak to grab its largest lead, 65-58, on the two free throws by Bruner.

Game #18 Brown at Yale January 25, 2019 New Haven, CT Brown and Yale played for the second time in the last six days with the Bulldogs earning their second straight Ivy League win over the Bears, 79-71, Friday evening, behind Alex Copeland’s 19 points at the John J. Lee Amphitheater. Bears’ sophomore Tamenang Choh played like a warrior once again, posting his second straight double-double against the Bulldogs. He scored a career high 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and grabbed 15 rebounds, one short of his career best, while handing out five assists. Sophomore Desmond Cambridge continued to struggle from the field for the Bears, connecting on 5-of-17 field goals, including 1-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc, in scoring 14 points. Senior Obi Okolie also scored in double figures for Brown with 10 points, adding three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Copeland’s 19 points came on 6-of-12 shooting from the field. Bulldogs’ forward Miye Oni posted a double- double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Blake Reynolds also scored 15 points. Yale led by as many as 11 points in the opening half, 34-23, following a layup by Oni at the 4:09 mark. The Bears pulled to within seven points at the half, 37-30, after closing with a 7-3 run, sparked by four points by Cambridge. A trey by Cambridge at the 12:15 mark of the second half pulled Brown to within six points, 50-44. But the Bulldogs answered with a 13-2 spurt to take control of the game, 63-46, capped off by a trey by Oni with 6:39 remaining to play.

Game #19 Brown at Dartmouth February 1, 2019 Hanover, NH Senior leadership made the difference in Brown’s 60-58 win over Dartmouth with senior Obi Okolie scoring 15 points and senior Chris Sullivan adding a career high 13 points to lead the Bears over the Big Green, giving Brown (13-6, 1-2 Ivy) its first Ivy win of the season. A wild finish punctuated a game with seven lead changes, with the Bears rallying from a seven point deficit, 53- 46, with 4:10 remaining. An 11-1 Brown run lifted the Bears to a 57-54 lead with Okolie leading the way with four points. After Dartmouth cut the Bears’ lead to one point on two free throws by Taurus Samuels with 22 seconds left, Okolie put Brown back up by three points with two free throws, 59-56, with 18 seconds remaining. Big Green forward Chris Knight scored on a layup with nine seconds remaining to trail, 59-57, and Brown freshman David Mitchell added a free throw with eight seconds left for a 60-58 Bears’ lead. Big Green guard Guilien Smith had a chance to win the game with one second remaining, but his trey was off the mark. Okolie connected on 4-of-7 field goals and 5-of-6 free throws while grabbing four rebounds. Sullivan came off the bench to convert 5-of-6 shots from the field, including 3-of-3 from beyond the three-point arc. Brown sophomore Tamenang Choh fouled out with 22 seconds remaining, registering 12 points and a game high nine rebounds, while sophomore George Mawanda-Kalema chipped in with seven points, all in the first half. Brown won the game despite shooting just 37-percent from the field (21-of-56), while Dartmouth shot 47- percent overall (21-of-45). The cold shooting Bears hit just 1-of-11 treys in the opening eight minutes, falling behind 17-11. Seven straight points by Mawanda-Kalema gave the Bears their first lead, 18-17, with 6:14 left in the half. The Bears finished strong and held their biggest lead at the half, 27-23, on a Sullivan trey. Sullivan’s trey at the 9:14 mark of the second half gave the Bears a 43-42 lead, but the Big Green scored seven straight points to pull ahead, 49-43, with 6:37 remaining on a corner trey by James Foye. Junior Zach Hunsaker’s trey with 1:54 remaining cut Dartmouth’s lead to 54-52 and sophomore Desmond Cambridge drew the Bears to within one point, 54-53, on a free throw with 1:31 left to play. Choh’s layup on a pass from Cambridge with 1:00 remaining gave Brown a 55-54 advantage, and free throws by Choh and Okolie lifted the Bears to a throw point lead, 57-54.

Game #20 Brown at Harvard February 2, 2019 Boston, MA Brown was unable to overcome a poor shooting night and a strong Harvard defensive effort, connecting on 29-percent of its field goals, in a 68-47 Ivy League loss to the Crimson on Saturday at Lavietes Pavilion. The 47-points are Brown’s lowest scoring output of the season, as the Bears fall to 13-7 overall, 1-3 in the Ivy League. Harvard improves to 10-7, 3-1 in league play. Harvard, who led from start-to-finish, held a 30-24 lead at the half and slowly out-scored the Bears in the second half, leading by as many as 22 points, 66-44, on a free thrown by Corey Johnson. The Crimson shot 54-percent from the field (23-of-43), while Brown connected on just 15-of-52 field goals (29- percent). Leading Brown was sophomore George Mawanda-Kalema, who scored a career high 14 points, including 11 in the opening half, on 5-of-9 shooting from the field overall. Bears’ senior Obi Okolie excelled on both ends of the court, registering 12 points and pulling down a game high eight rebounds. Harvard had balanced scoring throughout its lineup with four starters in double figures, led by Bryce Aiken with 12 points. Robert Baker had 10 points and seven rebounds, while Chris Lewis and Justin Bassey had 10 points each. Game #21 Penn at Brown February 8, 2019 Providence, RI Penn’s Devon Goodman scored 21 points and Bryce Washington added 20 points to lift the Quakers to a 92-82 start-to- finish Ivy League win over Brown Friday evening at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Quakers led by 12 at the half, 46-34, and pulled away in the final 20 minutes, leading by as many as 20 points, 78-58 on a layup by AJ Brodeur with 5:04 left on the clock. Brown battled back with a 14-4 run to trail 82-72, with 2:41 remaining on a basket by sophomore George Mawanda-Kalema. The closest Brown got down the stretch was a nine point deficit, 88-79, following a trey by junior Zach Hunsaker. Senior Obi Okolie kept the Bears in striking distance for most of the game, scoring a career high 25 points for his seventh straight double digit game. He shot a sizzling 9-of-11 from the field and connected on 6-of-7 free throws. The Bears had good inside play from sophomore Tamenang Choh, who posted his seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and a game high 13 rebounds, while handing out five assists. Brown sophomore Desmond Cambridge snapped out of his scoring slump with 21 points. Goodman hit 8-of-11 field goals in scoring 21 points to pace four double figure scorers for the Quakers. Washington’s 20 points came on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, including 3-of 4 from beyond the three point arc. Brodeur chipped in with 18 points for Penn, connecting on 8-of-14 field goals and grabbing six rebounds, while Michael Wang also scored in double figures with 11 points. The Quakers led by as many as 14 points in the first half, 33-19, with 6:03 remaining on a layup by Max Rothschild. The Bears cut the Quakers’ advantage to nine points, 33-24, with 5:08 left on an Okolie layup, but Penn built its lead back to 12 points, 46-34, at the half.

Game #22 Princeton at Brown February 9, 2019 Providence, RI Brown sophomore George Mawanda-Kalema scored a career high 19 points and senior Obi Okolie added 18 points to power the Bears past Princeton, 78-70, in an Ivy League game Saturday evening at the Pizzitola Sports Center. “I’m really proud of how we played,” said Brown coach Mike Martin. “That Brown team was the one we expected to see, fueled by our effort on defense. We played inspired basketball after a tough start.” Brown led by as many as 17 points in the second half, 55-38, on a trey by sophomore Desmond Cambridge at the 17:33 mark. The Tigers made a run at the Bears, and pulled as close as five points, 67-62, on a layup by Devin Cannady with 4:04 left on the clock. The Bears built their lead back up to 10 points with 3:14 remaining, 72-62, on a three-point play by Mawanda-Kalema and a basket by Okolie. Again the Tigers came back to trail, 72-67, on a three-point play by Cannady, but a layup by Mawanda-Kalema made it a three possession game with 1:52 left, 74-67. The Bears hit four free throws down the stretch, including two by senior Zach Hunsaker, to put the game away. Mawanda-Kalema, who led five double figure scorers, connected on 8-of-13 field goals, including 2-of-3 treys, in scoring 19 points. Okolie’s 18 points came on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. “I’m super proud of George,” added Martin. “He has a wonderful attitude, is all about team and was prepared for the opportunity.” Bears’ sophomore Tamenang Choh scored 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, while grabbing nine rebounds and handing out six assists, before fouling out with 5:20 remaining. Cambridge and Hunsaker added 10 points each for the Bears. Cannady led all scorers with 24 points, while adding nine rebounds. Myles Stephens also scored in double figures for the Tigers with 15 points. Brown out-shot the Tigers, shooting 50-percent from the field (27-54), while holding Princeton to 39-percent shooting (25-64). Princeton took an early 20-8 lead 10:28 mark of the opening half, but the Bears countered with a 25-6 run to grab a 33-26 advantage with 2:47 left in the half on layup by Mawanda-Kalema, who had 10 points in the spurt without missing a shot. Brown kept up the pressure and went ahead, 41-32, on a trey by Cambridge with 1:35 left in the half. The offensive and defensive pressure kept up and the Bears grabbed a 47-35 lead at the half on two free throws by Cambridge with three seconds left, completing a 39-18 run to end the half.

Game #23 Brown at Cornell February 15, 2019 Ithaca, NY When Brown head coach Mike Martin looks back at tonight’s game against Cornell, he’ll look at missed opportunities in the Bears 70-66 overtime loss to the Big Red at Newman Arena. Brown’s George Mawanda-Kalema tied the game, 60-60, on two free throws with 46 seconds left in regulation. The Bears had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Desmond Cambridge’s jumper in the lane was off the mark with two seconds left. Cornell quickly capitalized in the extra period, scoring the first seven points in overtime on field goals by Josh Warren and Jimmy Boeheim, and a trey by Matt Morgan for a 67-60 lead. Brown battled back with consecutive layups by senior Obi Okolie and two free throws by Mawanda-Kalema to trail 67-66, with 19 seconds left. Big Red forward Terrance McBride connected on a layup with 11 seconds left for a three-point Cornell lead, 69- 66. The Bears were unable to get off a shot in the waning seconds and Cornell’s Steven Julian put the game away with a free throw with less than a second remaining for a 70-66 Big Red win. Okolie led the Bears’ offense with 15 points, while pulling down seven rebounds. Mawanda-Kalema scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, connecting on 4-of-5 field goals. Brown sophomore Tamenang Choh registered his seventh double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and added a career high four steals. Cambridge finished with 10 points, and sophomore Matt DeWolf had six points and five rebounds. Boeheim, the son of Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim, led all scorers with 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field, while Warren added 18 points for the Big Red. Morgan also scored in double figures with 15 points. Brown held an early 10-point advantage, 14-4, on a Cambridge trey with 12:57 left in the half, and later extended its lead to 13 points, 22-9, at the 8:30 mark on a Zach Hunsaker trey. The Big Red closed the half with an 18-9 run to trail, 31-27, at intermission with Boeheim scoring nine of his 13 first half points in the spurt. In a defensive second half, Brown tied the game, 56-56, on jump shot by Mawanda-Kalema, but Cornell pulled ahead, 58-56, on a Morgan layup with 2:23 left in the game. Choh tied the game for the Bears once again, 58-58, on two free throws with 2:02 remaining. Cornell grabbed a 60-58 lead on a Josh Warren layup, but Mawanda-Kalema tied the game, 60-60, with two free throws with 46 seconds left.

Game #24 Brown at Columbia February 16, 2019 New York, NY Sophomore Tamenang Choh scored 22 points and senior Obi Okolie added 16 points to lead Brown to a 65-63 come- from-behind Ivy League win over Columbia Saturday evening at Levien Gym. Brown improves to 15-9 overall, 3-5 in the Ivy League, while Columbia falls to 6-16 overall, 1-7 in Ivy play. The game came down to free throws in the waning moments with the Bears hitting 9-of-10 free throws in the final two minutes, including 4-of-4 from both Choh and sophomore Desmond Cambridge. The Bears hit 22-of-27 free throws overall. Trailing 59-58, Choh connected on two free throws with 1:27 remaining to give Brown the lead for good, 60-59, followed by two free throws by Cambridge with 32 seconds remaining for a 62-59 advantage. Columbia’s Jake Killingworth scored on a layup with 9.2 seconds left to cut Brown’s lead to 62-61. Cambridge went to the free throw line once again with 8.8 seconds on the clock and converted both to put Brown back up by three points, 64-61. Lions’ guard Gabe Stefanini connected two free throws with six seconds left to trail, 64-63.With 4.3 seconds on the clock, Brown’s Brandon Anderson was fouled and Chris Sullivan went to the free throw line in his place due to injury, connecting on one of two free throws for a 65-63 margin. Steffani’s three-point attempt at the buzzer missed the mark. Choh connected on 5-of-8 field goals and 12-of-14 free throws in scoring 22 points. Okolie’s 16 points put him in double figures for the 10th straight game, while also grabbing five rebounds. Cambridge added 12 points, hitting 8-of-9 free throws. Sophomore Matt DeWolf and sophomore George Mawanda-Kalema led the Bears with six rebounds each. Stefanini paced the Lions with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Peter Barba added 12 points. The Bears got off to a sluggish start after making the long trip from Ithaca, NY the night before and fell behind 14-6 to open the game. Brown got back in the game when Okolie scored seven points in a 10-2 Brown run to trail 16-15. Okolie gave Brown a brief 23-22 lead with 2:37 remaining in the half. Five straight points by the Lions put Columbia up 27-23, but Choh connected on a short jump shot with 47 seconds remaining to trail, 27-25, at the half.

Game #25 Harvard at Brown February 22, 2019 Providence, RI Sophomore Desmond Cambridge poured in a game high 18 points to lead Brown to an 88-79 win over Harvard at the Pizzitola Sports Center, lifting the Bears to their first win over the Crimson since 2009. Brown improves to 16-9 overall, 4-5 in the Ivy League, while Harvard falls to 13-9, 6-3 in Ivy play. Harvard trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half and cut Brown’s lead to three points, 82-79, on a Noah Kirkwood layup with 1:04 remaining. Bears’ sophomore forward Matt DeWolf scored on a layup on a pass from Cambridge with 41-seconds remaining for an 84-79 lead. A steal by Cambridge led to two Brandon Anderson free throws for an 86-79 Brown lead with 28 seconds left, and Anderson hit two more free throws with 21 seconds on the clock for an 88-79 Bears’ advantage with 21-seconds left, putting the game out of reach. Cambridge regained his shooting touch, connecting on 11-of-21 field goals, including 5-of-8 from beyond the three-point arc, while blocking four shots. Bears’ senior captain Obi Okolie contributed 16 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field, while hitting 8-of-8 free throws. Sophomore Tamenang Choh, the Ivy League’s leading rebounder, posted his eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Anderson finished with 13 points, while DeWolf and sophomore George Mawanda-Kalema added eight points each. Kirkwood paced the Crimson with 28 points, hitting 11-of-18 field goals and 5-of-9 treys, while Bryce Aiken chipped in with 17 points and six assists. Brown raced out to a nine point lead, 21-12, following a steal and layup by Chris Sullivan at the eight minute mark of the opening half. The Crimson cut Brown’s lead to three points, 25-22, on an Aiken layup with 4:40 left in the half. The Bears closed out the opening half on a 15-5 run to grab its largest lead, 37-27, at intermission. Harvard opened the second half with an 8-0 run to trail, 37-35, but Brown quickly responded and went back up by 10 points, 49-39, following two Choh free throws with 14:05 left in the game.

Game #26 Dartmouth at Brown February 23, 2019 Providence, RI Junior Brandon Anderson came off the bench to provide a shot in the arm for Brown’s offense, scoring a season high 21 points, to lead Brown to a 68-65 Ivy League win over Dartmouth to complete a weekend Ivy sweep. The Ivy League sweep is Brown’s first since 2014 when the Bears beat both Cornell and Columbia at home. Brown improves to 17-9 overall, 5-5 in the Ivy League, while Dartmouth tumbles to 11-15, 2-8 in Ivy play. “I’m happy with the win and proud of how we put two good nights together,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin. “We haven’t swept an Ivy weekend in a while. When our offense wasn’t going well, our defense picked it up and made the difference. We’ll enjoy this one and get ready for Columbia and Cornell next week.” It certainly wasn’t easy for the Bears, who led 31-30 at the half, but trailed by as many as eight points in the second half, 41-33, with 16:57 remaining after a three-point play by Brendan Barry, who was scoreless in the opening half. Brown clawed back and tied the game, 48-48, on a Chris Sullivan layup with 10:00 left and took 50-48 lead on Anderson tip-in with 9:35 remaining. The Bears took the lead for good, 52-50, following two Anderson free throws. A trey by Dartmouth’s James Foye with 1:13 left on the clock cut Brown’s lead to 60-59. But Anderson took control once again, connecting on four straight free throws for a 64-59 lead with 39 seconds left. Overall, Anderson hit 7-of-8 free throws in the final 1:14 to secure the Brown win. Anderson’s 21 points came on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 10-of-12 shooting from the free throw line. Bears’ sophomore forward Tamenang Choh put together his second straight double-double and eleventh of the season, with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Obi Okolie also scored 14 points. While Brown sophomore Desmond Cambridge was unable to connect on a shot from the field, hit converted 5- of-5 free throws, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots. Foye paced the Big Green with a game high 25 points, connecting on 7-of-10 treys and 9-of-14 field goals overall. Chris Knight (12 points) and Brendan Barry (10 points) also scored in double figures for Dartmouth. Dartmouth led for over 14 minutes in the opening half and held a 27-20 advantage with 4:11 remaining. Brown went on an 11-0 run to grab a 31-27 lead following three point play by Choh on a dunk and a free throw. A late trey by Dartmouth’s Foye cut Brown’s lead to 31-30 at the half.
