Postpartum Support International 29th Annual Conference 5 Keynote speaker pages Keynote Speakers - Friday, June 25, 2016 8:15 am - 9:15 am Depression in Pregnancy: Making Sense of Conflicting Literature about Risks of Treatment with Antidepressants Vivien K. Burt, MD, PhD, is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in Los Angeles, California. She is Founder and Co-Director of The Women’s Life Center of the Resnick UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital. Dr. Burt has authored numerous articles and book chapters in the field of women’s psychiatry, has coauthored The Clinical Manual for Women’s Mental Health, published by the American Psychiatric Press in May 2008 and is the first author of the chapter on Women’s Mental Health in the American Psychiatric Press Textbook of Psychiatry, published in 2014. She has been honored with an Outstanding House Staff eachingT Award from the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, both a President’s Award and an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Southern California Psychiatric Society, and the Distinguished Service Award of the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital, the 2008 Andre Boivin Professorship of the Motherisk Program of The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada . The focus of her activities includes projects in women’s mental health with a particular focus on psychiatric illnesses associated with reproductive transitions. 10:45 am - 11:45 am Maternal Mental Health and Cultural Competency: African American Women and Maternal Mental Health Sherry Payne, MSN, RN, CNE, IBCLC, presents nationally on topics related to perinatal health disparities, infant mortality, and lactation professions . She is a master’s prepared nurse educator and lactation consultant . Ms . Payne is the Executive Director of Uzazi Village, a nonprofit organization devoted to decreasing pregnancy related health disparities in the urban core of Kansas City . She is the creator of the Sister Doula ProgramTM and the Chocolate Milk CafeTM . 7:00 pm Celebrity Chef and Mom Aarti Sequeira, well-known for her victory on season six of The Next Food Network Star, Aarti is host of Taste in Translation on the Cooking Channel. She published a new cookbook, Aarti Paarti: An American Kitchen with an Indian Soul. Aarti won our hearts and the winner’s prize on Cutthroat Kitchen: Superstar Sabotage. She has a food blog, www.aartipaarti.com and an online cooking show, youtube .com/aartipaarti . Felitti, MD is a 1962 graduate of the Johns Hopkins Medical School. He is an internist who, subsequent to being Post Surgeon at the U.S.
