Department, M.S.Poly, Beed, MH, India ABSTRACT Power Sector in India has grown significantly from independence both in the installed electricity generating capacity and transmission & distribution (T&D) system. The total power generating capacity of (utilities & non utilities) has increased from meager 1362 MW in 1947 to 267 GW at the end of March, 2015. The per capita electricity consumption which was mere 16.3 kWh in1947 has increased to 1010 KW h in 2014-15. With a production of 1,031 TWh. India is the third largest producer and fourth largest consumer of electricity in the world. It has fifth largest installed capacity in the world. Maharashtra plays very vital role in the evolution of the Indian power sector. As of 2012, Maharashtra was the largest power generating state in India, with installed electricity generation capacity with 26,838 MW. The state forms a major constituent of the western grid of India, which now comes under the North, East, West and North Eastern (NEWNE) grids of India. Maharashtra Power Generation Company controls and runs thermal power plants. -

Area details including brief history (Background Information) Chandrapur, the easternmost district is located in the eastern edge of Maharashtra in Nagpur division and forms the eastern part of 'Vidharbha' region. It is located between 19.30’ N to 20.45’N Latitude and 78.46’E longitude. The district is bounded by Nagpur, Bhandara and Wardha on the northern side. Yavatmal on the western side. Gadchiroli on the eastern side and Adilibad district of the Andhra Pradesh on the southern side. Physiographically, the district is situated within the Wainganga and Wardha river basins, respectively, on the eastern and western boundaries of the district which are the tributaries of Godavari River. Chandrapur district of Maharashtra is abundantly endowed with rich flora and fauna, water resources and mineral wealth. Chandrapur has been famous from ancient times as the capital of Gond dynasty. Anandavan at Warora is famous the world over due to work being done by the social worker Shri. Baba Amte on the rehabilitation of the leprosy patients. Incidentally he is also an environmental crusader. India’s largest thermal power plant, many coal mines, cement and paper factories, huge lime stone deposits, bauxite, iron, and chromite mines are the sources of wealth for the district. Tadoba‐AndhariTiger Project is a major tourist attraction. Different tribes are the original inhabitants of this district for Millennia. Chandrapur district occupies 11443 square km. -

CHAPTER 6 ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS REPORT 6.1 INTRODUCTION The history of Marathwada can be traced as far back as to the days of the Satvahanas who ruled during the second and third centuries A.D. with their capital at Pratishthanapura, the present day Paithan. Pratishthanpura on the banks of the Godavari, referred to by Greek historians of the second century A.D. as Paithan, was a great commercial centre and was the capital of the Satavahans. Aurangabad, now Divisional Head - Quarters of the Marathwada region. The Aurangabad city was founded in 1610 A.D. by Malik Ambar, the Prime Minister of Murtaza Nizam Shah of Ahmednagar on the sight of village called Khirki. Malik Ambar was succeeded by his son Fateh Khan, who changed the name of Khirki to Fatehnagar. With the capture of Daulatabad by the imperial troops in 1633, the Nizam Shahi dominions including Fatehnagar came under the possession of the Moghals. In 1653, when Aurangzeb was appointed the viceroy of the Deccan, he made Fatehnagar his capital and called it Aurangabad. Since then the city came to be known as Aurangabad. New Aurangabad divisional Head Quarters of the Marathwada occupy a place of pride in the history of India. Lying at the crossroads of ancient trade routes and nestled centrally in the Deccan plateau, Aurangabad has naturally been the scene on which a great many "Cunning Passages" of history have been enacted and unfolded. Endowed with a rich cultural past and a capacity for absorbing the shocks and 238 transformations of historical change into its own characteristic personality, the city occupies an important place on the tourist map of the world. -

DISTRICT SURVEY REPORT For SAND MINING INCLUDING OTHER MINOR MINERAL CHANDRAPUR DISTRICT, MAHARASHTRA As per Notification No. S.O. 3611 (E) New Delhi, the 25th July, 2018 of Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate change, Government of India Prepared by: District Mining Officer Collector Office, Chandrapur 2019 - 2020 .. ;:- CERTIFICATE The District Survey Report preparation has been undertaken in compliance as per Notification No. S.O. 3611 (E) New Delhi, the 25th July, 2018 of Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change, Government of India. Every effort have been made to cover sand mining location, area and overview of mining activity in the district with all its relevant features pertaining to geology and mineral wealth in replenishable and non-replenishable areas of rivers, stream and other sand sources. This report will be a model and guiding document which is a compendium of available mineral resources, geographical set up, environmental and ecological set up of the district and is based on data of various departments, published reports, and websites. The District Survey Report will form the basis for application for environmental clearance, preparation of reports and appraisal of projects.
