Press release Saturday 28th July 2018 Thousands marvel at amazing aerobatics at #BrayAirDisplay 2018 RAF Red Arrows to perform Flypast over River Liffey at 19.50 this evening Large crowds expected tomorrow to see headliners, The Red Arrows Despite a rainy start to the day, the clouds lifted and the sun shone on the thousands of people who made their way to Bray Promenade today to marvel at spectacular aerobatic performances as part of the award-winning, 13th Bray Air Display, supported by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). Spectators were treated to a dazzling display of aviation expertise from some of the most talented pilots and aerobatic display teams from across Ireland and Europe. The Irish Air Corps opened the show, followed by the Royal Jordanian Falcons flying four Extra-300 L aircraft, headliners of today’s display. A professional national aerobatic team formed in 1976, the Royal Jordanian Falcons have an international reputation for precision, professionalism and spectacular performance. Peter Kearney, Chief Executive of the Irish Aviation Authority said, “Today was a wonderful start to the IAA’s #AviationIreland weekend of spectacular air displays in Bray and Foynes, Co. Limerick. Tomorrow’s line- up at Bray will be really exciting as well and a great chance to enjoy a wealth of aviation talent on display.” Other display highlights included a Catalina Flying Boat celebrating her 75th birthday and a beautiful vintage Aer Lingus aircraft, the DC-3, popular in the 1940s and 50s. Irish aviation was also celebrated at the event with The Irish Air Corps, the Irish Historic Flight Foundation, the Irish Coast Guard Search and Rescue, and the Garda Support Unit helicopter participating for the first time. -

July 18, 2008 Canadian Forces Snowbirds featured at Reynolds-Alberta Museum on July 26 and 27 Wetaskiwin... Smoke, precision, speed and synchronized high-performance aerobatics will be on display at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum for the 2008 Wetaskiwin Air Show on July 26 and 27. This spectacular event will feature performances by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Demonstration Team and seven other in-air acts. The theme of the air show is Remembering Our Veterans, and visitors will be able to interact with veterans from the Wetaskiwin Royal Canadian Legion in the autograph tent. The Reynolds-Alberta Museum grounds will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the air show taking place from 1 to 5 p.m. each day. Visitors can also tour an outdoor display of more than 40 aircrafts on the grounds, take in the trade show, and take a Snowbird simulator ride. The Wetaskiwin Air Show is a free event courtesy of the Reynolds-Alberta Museum, City of Wetaskiwin and air show sponsors. Regular museum admission rates will also be waived for this special event weekend. Free park and ride service is available at the Wetaskiwin Mall. Parking is also available at the museum at a cost of $20 per car and $10 per motorcycle. Journal of Aeronautical History Paper 2021/03 Pearcey, Newby, and the Vulcan S C Liddle Vulcan to the Sky Trust ABSTRACT In 1955 flight testing of the prototype Avro Vulcan showed that the aircraft’s buffet boundary was unacceptably close to the design cruise condition. The Vulcan’s status as one of the two definitive carrier aircraft for Britain’s independent nuclear deterrent meant that a strong connection existed between the manufacturer and appropriate governmental research institutions, in this case the Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). A solution was rapidly implemented using an extended and drooped wing leading edge, designed and high-speed wind-tunnel tested by K W Newby of RAE, subsequently being fitted to the scaled test version of the Vulcan, the Avro 707A. Newby’s aerodynamic solution exploited a leading edge supersonic-expansion, isentropic compression* effect that was being investigated at the time by researchers at NPL, including H H Pearcey. The latter would come to be associated with this ‘peaky’ pressure distribution and would later credit the Vulcan implementation as a key validation of the concept, which would soon after be used to improve the cruise efficiency of early British jet transports such as the Trident, VC10, and BAC 1-11. In turn, these concepts were exploited further in the Hawker-Siddeley design for the A300B, ultimately the basis of Britain’s status as the centre of excellence for wing design in Airbus. They help you to complete and submit a General Aviation Report (GAR) and inform you about the types of airport you can use to make your journey. The instructions explain: - What a General Aviation Report (GAR) is What powers are used to require a report Where aircraft can land and take off When you are asked to submit a General Aviation Report (GAR); When, how and where to send the GAR How to complete the GAR How GAR information is used Custom requirements when travelling to the UK The immigration and documentation requirements to enter the UK What to do if you see something suspicious What is a General Aviation Report (GAR)? General Aviation pilots, operators and owners of aircraft making Common Travel Area2 and international journeys in some circumstances are required to report their expected journey to the Police and/or the Border Force command of the Home Office. Border Force and the Police request that the report is made using a GAR. The GAR helps Border Force and the Police in securing the UK border and preventing crime and terrorism. What powers are used to require a report? An operator or pilot of a general aviation aircraft is required to report in relation to international or Channel Islands journeys to or from the UK, unless they are travelling outbound directly from the UK to a destination in the European Union as specified under Sections 35 and 64 of the Customs & 1 The term General Aviation describes any aircraft not operating to a specific and published schedule 2 The Common Travel Area is comprised of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands Excise Management Act 1979. -
