Walt Disney Launches Disney Channel & Toon Disney Channels for The
Disney Channel and Toon Disney Launch in India on 17 December 2004 Mumbai, India, 15 December 2004: For the first time ever kids and families in India will now be able to watch a unique blend of Disney branded and locally produced entertainment that offers something for all members of the family. The launches mark the first dual channel debut by an international broadcaster in the history of Indian television. Disney Channel and Toon Disney will be fully languaged services at launch with almost 3000 hours of multi-genre content already dubbed into multiple languages. Toon Disney will be India’s first and only 24-hour Tamil and Telugu language kids’ channel. Disney Channel will be a 24-hour Hindi service. Both channels will also provide an optional English language feed in appropriate markets. Disney Channel’s programming schedule will include almost 400 episodes of local production, representing the single largest localisation commitment by any international broadcaster. The Channel also sets new standards in providing entertainment that the whole family can enjoy by scheduling approximately 60 movies each month including some of the most celebrated Disney animated and live action features. “The unique strength and appeal of Disney Channel and Toon Disney, combined with the distribution commitment of Star India, give us a great opportunity to capture the hearts of millions of viewers across the country,” said Rajat Jain, Managing Director, WDTVI-I. “As the world leader in kids and family entertainment, we have a huge responsibility to India’s vast and diverse TV viewing population. We have identified several crucial gaps in entertainment currently catering to kids and their families. -

Media Ownership Chart
In 1983, 50 corporations controlled the vast majority of all news media in the U.S. At the time, Ben Bagdikian was called "alarmist" for pointing this out in his book, The Media Monopoly . In his 4th edition, published in 1992, he wrote "in the U.S., fewer than two dozen of these extraordinary creatures own and operate 90% of the mass media" -- controlling almost all of America's newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies. He predicted then that eventually this number would fall to about half a dozen companies. This was greeted with skepticism at the time. When the 6th edition of The Media Monopoly was published in 2000, the number had fallen to six. Since then, there have been more mergers and the scope has expanded to include new media like the Internet market. More than 1 in 4 Internet users in the U.S. now log in with AOL Time-Warner, the world's largest media corporation. In 2004, Bagdikian's revised and expanded book, The New Media Monopoly , shows that only 5 huge corporations -- Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch's News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom (formerly CBS) -- now control most of the media industry in the U.S. General Electric's NBC is a close sixth. Top Quark Pair Production Close to Threshold: Top Mass, Width and Momentum Distribution
CERN-TH/99-59 DESY 99-047 hep-ph/9904468 April 1999 Top Quark Pair Production Close to Threshold: Top Mass, Width and Momentum Distribution A. H. Hoanga and T. Teubnerb a Theory Division, CERN, CH-1211 Geneva 23, Switzerland b Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY, D-22603 Hamburg, Germany Abstract + The complete NNLO QCD corrections to the total cross section σ(e e− Z∗,γ∗ tt¯), → → in the kinematic region close to the top-antitop threshold, are calculated by solving the corresponding Schr¨odinger equations exactly in momentum space in a consistent momentum cutoff regularization scheme. The corrections coming from the same NNLO QCD effects to the top quark three-momentum distribution dσ/d ~k are determined. We discuss the origin | t| of the large NNLO corrections to the peak position and the normalization of the total cross section observed in previous works and propose a new top mass definition, the 1S mass M1S, which stabilizes the peak in the total cross section. If the influence of beamstrahlung and initial state radiation on the mass determination is small, a theoretical uncertainty on the 1S top mass measurement of 200 MeV from the total cross section at the linear collider seems possible. We discuss how well the 1S mass can be related to the MS mass. We propose a consistent way to implement the top quark width at NNLO by including electroweak effects into the NRQCD matching coefficients, which can then become complex. PACS numbers: 14.65.Ha, 13.85.Lg, 12.38.Bx. CERN-TH/99-59 April 1999 1 Introduction + + It will be one of the primary goals of a future e e− linear collider (LC) or µ µ− pair collider (FMC) to measure and determine the properties of the top quark, whose existence has been confirmed at the Tevatron (M = 173.8 5 GeV [1]). -

Abstract This article focuses on how the Franco regime made use of the media, es- pecially film and television, to influence the migration process to Europe in the 1960s and 1970s. It analyzes how, through various channels such as the TVE’s Service for Programs Abroad and the cathodic diplomacy, the Spanish State tried to influence the image of migrants that was projected both internally and towards outside the country. It also studies how the propaganda apparatus of the Franco regime addressed the migrants abroad, fueling what is known as the subculture of migration, promoting the so-called myth of return and channeling savings from the migrants into Spain. -
