FIFA 2010 World Cup successes Debbie Derry and Vernon Oosthuizen were both invited to present workshops at other CIES International University Network Partner universities, namely University of the West Indies and Birzeit University (Palestine) respectively. • Rowelna Venter (2007) was the Media Relations Coordinator at the FIFA 2010 World Cup head office in Johannesburg and is currently the Head of Events Planning for the City of . Daryl Newton, along with alumni Yoliswa Lumka (2012) who is now also the Director of Sport at Nelson Mandela University, and • George Newton (2008) was appointed as a Fan Fest Manager for the 2010 World Cup. • Clyde Tlou – a finalist in the national Standard Bank Rising Star Awards in the category of Media and Marketing. • Fuad Jappie (2007) – inaugurated into the South African Surfing Hall of Fame. • Lunga Ntuli (2013) – appointed as vice chairman of the Durban University of Technology Sport Studies Advisory Board – youngest person to have served in this capacity. • Sharief Gamiet (2012) – appointed as General Manager of Eastern Province Rugby. • Fuad Jappie (2007) and Thobela Thoba (2015) both started their own sport related businesses after completing the programme, and Thobela is a Herald Citizen of Year nominee for his efforts to grow sport among the underprivileged.
