Collins, Jr., author of Royal Ancestors, is a descend- ant of John Knox and wife, Margaret Stewart, through their daughter, Elizabeth Knox, who married Rev. John Welch and through their daughter, Lucy Welch, who married tho Rev. Wil- liam Witherspoon, and had descendants who came to South Caro- lina. (Page 296, Royal Ancestors.) Three Lines from Charlemagne and one from Alfred the Great: No. 14, in above ancestry, (which was furnished by Eliza- beth Mack), gives Robert Bruce of Annandale, married Isabel of Huntingdon. Isabel was daughter of: David, Earl of Huntingdon, born 1144^ died 1219, married Maude of Chester. David was son of: Prince Henry of Scotland, born 1114, died 1152, married Ada (Adeline) de Warren. Prince Henry was son of: David I, the Saint, King of Scotland, (q.v. later), born 1080, died 1153, mar- ried, (as second husband), Maud of Huntingdon. Ada de Warren was daughter of: William de Warren, 2nd., Earl of Surrey, died 1138, married in 1118, Isabel de Vermandois, (No. 17 above), who died 1131. William was son of: William de Warenne, 1st., Earl of Surrey, died 1088, married first Gundred (Gundreda) who died 1085. She was daughter of: Matilda (Maud) of Flan- ders, born 1032, died 1083, married first, Gherbod, the Fleming, who died 1053. (She married 2nd., William the Conqueror). Maud was daughter of: Baldwin V de Lille, Count of Flanders, in 1034, was born 1012, died 1067. In 1028, he married Adele de France. Baldwin V was son of: Baldwin IV, Count of Flanders and Artois in 988, was born 980, died 1036, married first in 1012, Ogive of Luxenbourg. Baldwin IV was son of: Arnold II, the Young, Count of Flanders and Artois in 964, died 987-88. In 968, he married Rosele of Italy. Arnold II was son of: Baldwin III, Count of Flanders and Artois in 958, died 961-62. In 951, he married second Matilda of Saxony, who died 1008. Baldwin III was son of: Arnold I tho Old, Count of Flanders and Artois in 918, was born 890, died 964-65, married in 934, Alix of Verman- dois, (gr. gr. gr. gr. gr. granddaughter of Charlemagne). Arnold I was son of: Baldwin II, the Bald, Count of Flanders and Artois, in 880, was born about 865 and died 918. In 889, he married Elfrida of England, (daughter of Alfred the Great, King of England 871, born 840, died 901). Baldwin II was son 553 Marilu Burch Smallwood 1973 Baldwin I 'Brade Fer' born died837 879 married in 862 Judith of France born 841 Chalres II, the Bald King .
