Februar 2019 METRO Kinokulturhaus, Johannesgasse 4, 1010 Wien 1924 in Wien geboren, beginnt der gelernte Chemiker Johannes Mario Simmel nach Zur Eröffnung am 17.1. diskutieren um 19:00 im Literaturmuseum dem Zweiten Weltkrieg als Journalist und Übersetzer zu arbeiten, ab Anfang der (Johannesgasse 6, 1010 Wien) bei freiem Eintritt Literaturwissenschaftler 1950er wird er auch als Drehbuchautor aktiv (u. a. schreibt er bei Emile E. Reinerts Michael Rohrwasser, Filmhistoriker Christoph Huber und Kurator Florian ABENTEUER IN WIEN mit). Seine Fähigkeiten als Reporter und sein untrügliches Widegger über Bedeutung und Wirkung von Johannes Mario Simmel. Gespür für Themen und Menschen ebnen dem Workaholic in den folgenden Jahren den Weg. Mit dem bombastischen Erfolg des Kaviar-Buchs 1960, das sogleich Kurator: Florian Widegger verfilmt wird, beginnt Simmels Karriere als Romanautor. Anhand dieses Buches lassen sich einige inhaltliche wie stilistische Merkmale Simmels erfassen: Die Hauptfiguren sind meist männlich, gut situiert, haben ihr Herz am rechten Fleck und FILMLISTE sind trotzdem nie um einen Trick verlegen, wenn es darum geht, Eigeninteressen durchzusetzen. Oft sind es äußere Umstände, die ihr Leben durcheinanderwirbeln – HOTEL ADLON (Josef von Báky, A 1951) und immer verlieben sie sich in schöne Frauen. Die Verbindung von schicksalhaftem FRÜHLING AUF DEM EIS (Georg Jacoby, A 1951) Weltgeschehen und Herzschmerz, von Leid und Liebe, von Aufklärung und LIEBE, DIE DEN KOPF VERLIERT (Thomas Engel, A 1956) Romantik – Simmel gelingt sie mühelos.
