In Single and Pair skating all entered participants skate the Short Program. At the European Figure Skating Championships the best placed 20 Men and Ladies and 16 Pairs qualify for the final Free Skating. The Ice Dance competition starts with the Compulsory Dance, which all entered couples have to skate, the best 30 placed couples will continue the event with the Original Dance and at the European Figure Skating Championships the best 16 placed couples qualify for the final Free Dance GENERAL RULES ISU Championships are held in accordance with the International Skating Union (ISU) Regulations. The ISU Judging System used at the Figure Skating events is the one adopted by the 2004 ISU Congress. It is constructed as follows: 1. Pressebericht November 2005: Eistanzen: Brall-Giesen diesmal nur auf Platz 10 20.11.2005: Das Neusser Eistanzpaar Saskia Brall (15) und Tim Giesen (17) vom Neusser Schlittschuh-Klub (NSK) waren voriges Jahr noch in der Nachwuchsklasse Sieger beim großen internationalen Eistanz-Wettbewerb der ISU in Olomouc (Olmütz) in Tschechien, diesmal mussten sie aufgestiegen in die Juniorenklasse, sich mit Platz 10 zufrieden geben. Die erfolgsverwöhnten Neusser Eistänzer bekommen zur Zeit etwas mehr Gegenwind und es bewahrheitet sich, dass man sich im Eistanzen in den jeweiligen Alterskategorien Anfänger-, Nachwuchs-, Junioren- und Meisterklasse immer langsam aufgrund der größeren Schwierigkeitsgrade nach „oben dienen“ muss. Saskia Brall und Tim Giesen – die gerade in die Deutsche Nationalmannschaft berufen wurden - sammeln gerade diese Erfahrung, denn sie sind erst zu Beginn dieser 2005/2006er Eislaufsaison im Herbst-2005 in die Juniorenklasse aufgestiegen und haben nun vier Jahre Zeit bis sie in die Meisterklasse wechseln müssen. Das schöne an dieser Eistanz-Sportart ist, dass man diesen Sport recht lange ausüben kann und nicht schon als 20-Jähriger zu den „Ehemaligen“ gehört. Z.B. das deutsche Eistanzpaar Kati Winkler und René Lohse feierte erst mit 30 und 31 Jahren ihre Bronzemedaille auf der Weltmeisterschaft voriges Jahr in Dortmund. Auch die derzeitige Weltelite im Eistanzen Tatiana Navka (30) und Roman Kostomarov (28) aus Russland, Albena Denkova (31) Maxim Staviski (28) aus Bulgarien, Elena Grushina (30) und Ruslan Gonxharov (32) aus der Ukraine usw. dürfen fast alle schon zu der Ü-30-Party. Wichtig für Saskia Brall und Tim Giesen war daher, beim diesjährigen Wechsel in die Juniorenklasse bei internationalen Wettbewerben sofort das Mittelfeld zu erreichen, um sich von dort aus im nächsten Jahr auf vordere Plätze vorarbeiten zu können.
