In all, the OKC franchise has made three previous NBA finals appearances while winning one NBA title during the 1978-79 season. With home court advantage in the Finals, Oklahoma City dropped their first home playoff contest of the 2012 postseason during Game 2 vs. the Heat after opening the playoffs a perfect 9-0 at home (one win shy of tying NBA record for most consecutive home playoff wins). The Thunder will look to become the first team in NBA Finals history to win a title after trailing 3-1 in the series. The NBA Finals represents the first postseason meeting between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder in the history of the two franchises. Finals Berth: Just three years after finishing the 2008-09 season with a record of 23-59, the Oklahoma City Thunder punched a ticket to this year’s NBA Finals after recording a total of three losses during the first three rounds of the postseason. The Miami Heat were the last team to reach the NBA Finals within three season of winning 25 or fewer games (Reached 2011 Finals after posting 15-67 record during the 2007-08 season). 2011-12 Rewind: Oklahoma City entered the 2012 postseason having wrapped-up the second best regular season record in the Western Conference (47-19) and the highest year-end winning percentage by the franchise since the 1997-98 season (.744). The Thunder’s .712 winning percentage this past season ranks fourth best all-time for the franchise. Oklahoma City has now captured playoff berths during each of the three subsequent seasons for the first time since 1996-1998. Stat-Worthy Debut: Kevin Durant (36 points) and Russell Westbrook (27 points), both making their NBA Finals debuts in Game 1, combined for 63 points in the Thunder's win over the Heat last Tuesday night. That matches the most combined points in a game by teammates who were both making their NBA Finals debuts in league history {Julius Erving (33) and Doug Collins (30) combined for 63 points for Philadelphia in their NBA Finals debuts in 1977 against Portland}. The 36 points scored by Kevin Durant are the second most recorded by a player making their NBA Finals debut (Allen Iverson scored 48 points during his NBA Finals debut in 2001).
