STUDIO FESTI HAS ORGANIZED LARGE-SCALE CELEBRATI- VE EVENTS IN MANY ITALIAN CITIES AS WELL AS INTERNATIONAL- LY, EVENTS WHICH HAVE BECOME A BENCHMARK IN THE INDUSTRY. THE GROUND-BREAKING CHARACTER OF STUDIO FESTI’S WORK HAS ALSO HAD TO DO WITH THE SO-CALLED ARCHITECTURES OF LIGHT, PRESENTING MANY INNOVATIVE AESTHETIC AND TECHNICAL FEATURES. AN EXAMPLE OF THAT IS THE ONE DESIGNED FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF THE KOBE EARTHQUAKE, COMMISSIONED EVERY YEAR SINCE 1995. IN THE FIELD OF FIREWORKS, STUDIO FESTI HAS TAKEN INSPIRATION FROM THE AESTHETICS, THE TECHNIQUES AND THE TYPOLOGY OF BAROQUE-STYLE PYROTECHNICAL SHOWS, COMBINING THEM WITH LIVE CLASSICAL MUSIC PERFORMANCES. A FAMOUS INSTANCE OF THIS ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT HAS BEEN THE 1999 SAINT PETER’S SQUARE CONCERT PERFORMED BY THE ACCADEMIA DI SANTA CECILIA ORCHESTRA, AND CONDUC- TED BY MYUNG-WHUN CHUNG, IN OCCASION OF THE INAUGURATION OF THE RESTORATION WORK OF THE FAÇADE OF SAINT PETER’S BASILICA. THE NAME OF STUDIO FESTI IS TO BE ASSOCIATED, MOREOVER, TO THE OPENING CEREMONIES OF GREAT SPORTS EVENTS, AMONGST WHICH THAT OF THE TURIN XX WINTER OLYMPICS, WHERE STUDIO FESTI WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REALIZATION OF THE SEGMENT FROM RENAISSANCE TO BAROQUE, THAT OF THE 2008 UCI CYCLING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN VARESE AS WELL AS THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE 2009 FINA SWIMMING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ROME. THE SHOW AFFORDED CITI- ZENS OF SYRIA THE FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO WITNESS A GRAND ‘PIAZZA’ CELEBRATION. TO THE COLLEC- TIVE EMOTION THAT THE SHOW AROUSED THE GRAND FINALE WAS ADDED: A FIREWORKS CONCERT WITNESSED BY 1,6 MILLION INHABITANTS OF DAMASCUS, LAUNCHED FROM THE HILLS OF QUAISUN. ISTANBUL (TURKEY) - 2007 FENERBAHÇE SPOR KULÜBÜ 1907 - 2007 CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION OF TURKEY’S PREMIER SPORTS CLUB THIS WAS A YEARLONG CELEBRATION TO SALUTE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MOST POPULAR AND CELEBRATED SPORTS CLUB OF ISTANBUL, WHICH IS A MAJOR SUPPORTER OF THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF TURKEY UNDER MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATURK. THE INSTALLATIONS AND PERFORMANCES CREATED FOR THIS LANDMARK OCCASION BY STUDIO FESTI, WERE THE FIRST IN WESTERN STYLE TO HAVE BEEN SEEN IN THIS LOCATION. «THE LIGHT OF SUCCESS»: LIGHT ARCHITECTURE WAS PER- FORMED IN THE CITY. «LOOK BACKWARDS TO SPEED FORWARD»: SPECTACLE AT SÜKRÜ SARAÇOGLU STADYUMU. «PARADE OF STARS»: EVENING PARADE IN WHICH OVER 1 MILLION PEOPLE PARTICIPATED. LAIKIPIA (KENYA) - 2005-2007 “DELUGE” THIS PERFORMANCE WAS SET ON THREE STAGES BUILT SPECIFICALLY FOR IT. BEHIND THE STAGES WAS A BREATHTAKING BACKDROP OF GREAT RIFT VALLEY. THE SHOW WAS INSPIRED BY AN ORIGINAL TEXT BY MONICA MAIMONE, AND BASED ON THE INTERPRETATIONS OF THE UNIVERSAL FLOOD BY FOUR TRADITIONS: SUMERIC, HEBREW, MASSAI AND INDO- AMERICAN. NINETY PERFORMERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD WORKED IN A MULTI-RACIAL AND MULTI-CULTURAL WORKSHOP TO REALIZE THIS SPECTACLE. THE PRODUCTION WAS PROMOTED BY THE IPAZIA FOUNDATION, WHICH AIMS TO DISSE- MINATE ENVIRONMENTAL THEMES THROUGH ARTISTIC ENGAGEMENT. THIS SHOW WAS PREMIERED IN LAIKI- PIA IN 2005 AND RAN SUCCESSFULLY FOR 3 YEARS.     A 30-year-long story Studio Festi is an artistic project and production centre bringing into being shows and grand installations, which have become internationally renowned for their poetry ad aesthetics. Founded in 1982 by Valerio Festi and Monica Maimone, Studio Festi operates from its main offices in Velate (Varese), its workshop in Venegono Superiore (Varese) and, in 2010, it set up a branch in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Studio Festi’s artistic activity covers three main areas: • Outdoor shows • Installations of lights, also called architectures of light due to their unique features • Video mapping and video projections • Concerts for fireworks with live orchestra A common feature of all of its work is that it is specifically tailored to suit any type of celebration or occasion, from city festivals to commemorations, from exclusive private parties to the opening of sports events. The poetry characterising Studio Festi’s work is linked to a reinterpretation of traditional city festivals through the invention of stage machines that take inspiration from the Italian Baroque while yet retaining a modern taste as well as through the use of aerial dances, the projection of images on buildings and giant screens to create stage setting and dramaturgical elements, and through the representation of ancient rituals like that of the Italian “parata” (parade). Studio Festi has organized large-scale celebrative events in many Italian cities as well as internationally, events which have become a benchmark in the industry. The realization of the Festino di Santa Rosalia for 3 consecutive years (1995-1997) in Palermo as well as the staging, in 1991 and 1992, of Antigone delle città commemorating the 1980 Bologna terroristic attack, have had a key role in defining Studio Festi’s dramaturgical and aesthetic approach.

    STUDIO FESTI ART EMOTION CELEBRATION For more than twenty years, Festi‘s art has been „celebration“: the designing and realizing of open-air projects for different festive occasions. 1 A POWERFUL MEANS OF COMMUNICATION Studio Festi has been creating and staging breathtaking visual celebrations, spectacular displays and performances and sensational dramatic creations in urban and natural settings, heritage sites and other key locations for over a quarter of a century. Studio Festi designs and performs unique creations for the greatest of all stages, the open air. Each event is individually tailored to reflect the specific characteristics and history of its location. Valerio Festi is the brainchild behind these masterpieces and together with his partner, the playwright and director Monica Maimone, has created an almost unique identity as an architect of events. His works are rooted in the Italian tradition of “La Festa”, or the city feast. She was my confidante, oracle (a game we played) and protector, one of my favorite people to laugh with, make fun of other people with, and chat with (like a best friend). Given that before I was born she had lost a daughter who was four, and that my father died when I was four, my mom and I cultivated a particularly intense bond. In my vision of zipping back to the City at any time from school, sparkling along the coast in an Alfa Romeo Spider (that I have never owned, nor do I drive stick, nor do I enjoy driving), I had no premonition that by the time it came for me to take those GREs my mom would have died (cancer in six weeks). Besides the obvious enticements of joining the graduate school at the University of Michigan, some of the appeal for me had to do with the idea of nestling in the middle of the country, which seemed secure and comforting.

  • Una Historia Que Dura 30 Años
    Una historia que dura 30 años Estudio Festi es un proyecto artístico y un centro de producción que realiza espectáculos e instalaciones de grandes dimensiones, que se han convertido en puntos de referencia, tanto por su poética como por su estética. Fundado en 1982 por Valerio Festi y Monica Maimone, sus oficinas principales se encuentran en Velate (Varese ), y sus talleres en Venegono Superiore (Varese); en 2010 Estudio Festi abrió una oficina en Brasil, con sede en San Pablo. La actividad artística del Estudio Festi se desarrolla en tres campos: • espectáculos al aire libre • instalaciones luminosas, denominadas por su peculiaridad arquitecturas de luz • conciertos para fuegos artificiales con orquestas en directo El común denominador de sus trabajos es que son creados específicamente para interpretar las características de la ocasión que celebran. Pueden ser de diversa índole: desde fiestas urbanas a sucesos conmemorativos, desde exclusivas fiestas privadas a inauguración de eventos deportivos. La poética del Estudio Festi está relacionada con la reinterpretación de las fiestas urbanas por medio de la invención de máquinas de escena, según el estilo del Barroco italiano, que se reinventan de acuerdo a la sensibilidad contemporánea con el uso innovador de la danza aérea, la introducción de las videoproyecciones en edificios y pantallas gigantes, como elementos escenográficos o dramatúrgicos, y también la reinterpretación de eventos rituales como el desfile. Estudio Festi ha proyectado fiestas y conmemoraciones de gran magnitud en muchas ciudades no solo italianas, sino del mundo entero. Tales eventos se han ido convirtiendo en benchmark de esta industria. Un valor particular en la definición del planteamiento dramatúrgico y estético de Estudio Festi ha sido la realización, en Palermo, desde 1995 a 1997, del ciclo trienal de la Fiesta de Santa Rosalía, y el estreno, en Boloña, en 1991 y 1992 del espectáculo Antígona de las ciudades en conmemoración de la masacre de 1980.

Frequenta stages di formazione e perfezionamento con Mia Molinari, Vladan Jovanovic, Grazia Galante, Alexandre Stepkine e Bruce Taylor. Dal 2001 danza per conto della Fondazione Teatro Massimo di Palermo: Aida e Carmen presso il teatro greco di Taormina; Cenerentola, Flauto Magico a Palermo; La Bella e la Bestia in occasione del festival di Todi.
