PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE and U.S. SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS to PUBLISH NEW BOOK OUR REVOLUTION: a FUTURE to BELIEVE in Published by Thomas Dunne Books/St PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE AND U.S. SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS TO PUBLISH NEW BOOK OUR REVOLUTION: A FUTURE TO BELIEVE IN Published by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’s Press on November 15, 2016 NEW YORK, JULY 14, 2016 – It was announced today that U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders will publish a new book entitled OUR REVOLUTION: A Future to Believe In with the Thomas Dunne Books imprint of St. Martin’s Press on November 15, 2016. World publishing rights were acquired by Thomas Dunne, with Peter Joseph editing, from Washington D.C. literary agent and attorney Ronald Goldfarb, who represented the author. The book will be available in hardcover, ebook, and audio. Throughout the Presidential campaign, Bernie Sanders galvanized voters with his progressive platform and vision for America. In the book, Sanders shares experiences from the campaign trail and outlines his ideas for continuing a political revolution to fight for a progressive economic, environmental, racial and social justice agenda that creates jobs, raises wages, protects the environment and provides health care for all. Publisher Thomas Dunne commented: “Bernie Sanders quickly became the leader of the progressive movement within the Democratic Party. Garnering over thirteen million votes, winning twenty-three primaries and caucuses, and receiving more than seven million individual donations to his cause, he energized the party as he fought for the average American with unrelenting energy and passion. OUR REVOLUTION will be an inside account of this extraordinary campaign, and will also provide a blueprint for future political action. Its message: the fight has just begun. “To say we are excited is an understatement. Bernie’s ideas and plan for action may well change the lives of millions of people for the better. It is an honor to be involved with the book.” Bernie Sanders was a Democratic candidate for President of the United States. He is serving his second term in the U.S. Senate after winning re-election in 2012 with 71 percent of the vote. Sanders previously served as mayor of Vermont’s largest city for eight years before defeating an incumbent Republican to be the sole congressperson for the state in the U.S. House of Representatives. He lives in Burlington, Vermont with his wife Jane and has four children and seven grandchildren. ### Macmillan Publishers is a global trade book publishing company with prominent imprints around the world. Schade, Ph.D. ii Abstract In my dissertation “Atomic Apocalypse – ‘Nuclear Fiction’ in German Literature and Culture,” I investigate the portrayal of the nuclear age and its most dreaded fantasy, the nuclear apocalypse, in German fictionalizations and cultural writings. My selection contains texts of disparate natures and provenance: about fifty plays, novels, audio plays, treatises, narratives, films from 1946 to 2009. I regard these texts as a genre of their own and attempt a description of the various elements that tie them together. The fascination with the end of the world that high and popular culture have developed after 9/11 partially originated from the tradition of nuclear fiction since 1945. The Cold War has produced strong and lasting apocalyptic images in German culture that reject the traditional biblical apocalypse and that draw up a new worldview. In particular, German nuclear fiction sees the atomic apocalypse as another step towards the technical facilitation of genocide, preceded by the Jewish Holocaust with its gas chambers and ovens.

  • The Evolution of the Digital Political Advertising Network
PLATFORMS AND OUTSIDERS IN PARTY NETWORKS: THE EVOLUTION OF THE DIGITAL POLITICAL ADVERTISING NETWORK Bridget Barrett A thesis submitted to the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. Chapel Hill 2020 Approved by: Daniel Kreiss Adam Saffer Adam Sheingate © 2020 Bridget Barrett ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT Bridget Barrett: Platforms and Outsiders in Party Networks: The Evolution of the Digital Political Advertising Network (Under the direction of Daniel Kreiss) Scholars seldom examine the companies that campaigns hire to run digital advertising. This thesis presents the first network analysis of relationships between federal political committees (n = 2,077) and the companies they hired for electoral digital political advertising services (n = 1,034) across 13 years (2003–2016) and three election cycles (2008, 2012, and 2016). The network expanded from 333 nodes in 2008 to 2,202 nodes in 2016. In 2012 and 2016, Facebook and Google had the highest normalized betweenness centrality (.34 and .27 in 2012 and .55 and .24 in 2016 respectively). Given their positions in the network, Facebook and Google should be considered consequential members of party networks. Of advertising agencies hired in the 2016 electoral cycle, 23% had no declared political specialization and were hired disproportionately by non-incumbents. The thesis argues their motivations may not be as well-aligned with party goals as those of established political professionals. iii TABLE OF CONTENTS LIST OF TABLES AND FIGURES .................................................................................................................... • OHIO GOVERNOR JOHN KASICH to PUBLISH NEW BOOK TWO PATHS: AMERICA DIVIDED OR UNITED Published by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’S Press on April 25, 2017
OHIO GOVERNOR JOHN KASICH TO PUBLISH NEW BOOK TWO PATHS: AMERICA DIVIDED OR UNITED Published by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’s Press on April 25, 2017 NEW YORK, NY – Tuesday, January 31, 2017 – It was announced today that Ohio Governor John Kasich will publish a new book entitled TWO PATHS: America Divided or United with the Thomas Dunne Books imprint of St. Martin’s Press on April 25, 2017. World publishing rights were acquired by Thomas Dunne, with Stephen S. Power editing, from Jenny Bent at The Bent Agency, who represented the author. The book will be available in hardcover, ebook, and audio (read by the author). As the last traditional Republican standing in the 2016 Presidential race, Governor John Kasich was the only candidate who was once a Fox News host and endorsed by The New York Times. Kasich distinguished himself by remaining above the fray as the campaign rhetoric and coverage reached unprecedented new lows, witnessing first-hand how “the tone and tenor of our political discourse has become deeply troubling – and hardly Presidential.” Kasich’s goal in writing the book is to consider how these strange times have come about, and how to set things right. In TWO PATHS, Kasich recounts his political career, how faith guides his personal and political life, and considers lessons from the historic Presidential campaign. He takes aim at news media bias and the constant race for ratings, gerrymandering and redrawing of voting districts, ramifications of living in a post-truth environment, the proliferation of “fake news,” and the danger of political leaders telling constituents only what they want to hear whether it’s true or not.

  • Metaanalysis of Psychoanalysis
Metaanalysis of psychoanalysis by Dr. Andrej Poleev Print edition

  • Macmillan Publishers and Imprints All Points Books Bedford/St
What’s going on? Beginning Nov. 1, Macmillan Publishers will limit libraries to a single purchased copy of a new ebook title per library system. This embargo is being imposed for an eight week period, at which point libraries can purchase additional copies. Your ability to access these new Macmillan ebook titles for free from Kitsap Regional Library will be impacted; hold times will most likely increase and will not be consistent with your experience with the rest of our collection. We apologize for this impact to service and make a commitment to you, our patrons, that we will do our very best to adjust and limit the negative impact it will have on you. Why is this happening? In a July 25 memo to authors, illustrators and agents, Macmillan Publishers stated that they believe library lending has had a negative impact on sales. After testing an embargo period with one of their publishers, Macmillan decided to apply this new process to all ebooks published by imprints that fall under the Macmillan Publishing corporation. In fulfillment of its role to offer equal and open access to information, ebooks have played a critical role in the library’s ability to serve all communities, especially patrons with visual and other disabilities. Because of this, the American Library Association has launched the campaign #eBooksForAll, urging Macmillan to reconsider. For more information, visit ebooksforall.org. How does this impact your service? In 2018, we purchased 572 unique titles from Macmillan Publishers, and in 2019, Macmillan titles have made up approximately 11% of our ebook collection.

Some will say that hope lies in a nation; others in a person. I believe rather that it is awakened, revived, nourished by millions of solitary individuals whose deeds and works every day negate frontiers and the crudest implications of history. As a result, there shines forth fleetingly the ever-threatened truth that each and every person, on the foundation of his or her own sufferings and joys, builds for all.” —Albert Camus, The Artist and His Time TABLE OF CONTENTS Acknowledgements ..................................................................................
