Dozens of vehicles, everything from horse-drawn carriages to motorized cars and trucks to bicycles, are on display in a former truck body manufacturing plant. Also on display are significant examples of roadside architecture: a 1921 Sunoco gas station and a 1938 prefabricated diner. The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles also features changing exhibits and special events throughout the year. Private Vehicle Collection (subject to availability) Every vehicle in the 3 Dog Garage collection is unique. Each has a history all its own, and each is preserved and presented as a tribute to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the individuals who were instrumental in their creation. Every vehicle in the collections is, in some way, a Ford. Some were purpose-built from the ground up to racing specifications. Others are modified examples of production-line automobiles. In either case, the vehicles stand as testimony to a period in American history that saw enthusiastic self-expression, mechanical skill, innovation and creativity combine to produce vehicles that were the technical and/or aesthetic realization of the goals of their creators, and it is to them that the collections are dedicated. At AASLH we know that history is not just about the past; it gives us context and meaning for today. It helps explain circumstances, teaches critical skills for functioning in the modern world, and challenges us to ask questions. Just as 75 years ago it would have been hard to imagine today’s world, it is impossible for us today to imagine the future, but we can see with certainty that circumstances are changing for history organizations. They want programs and exhibits on topics they are interested in, which are not necessarily the ones we want to present.
