From 1970 to 1986, it was simply the "Fine Arts Gallery" which made no provision for the accumulation of nearly 3000 works of art; from 1986 until 1994, under my direction, it was known as the Fine Arts Gallery & Museum. As Director of the "Gallery" in 1982, my goal was to accession and register the growing collection and to attain accreditation by the Page 3 Vita for Allys Palladino-Craig American Association of Museums, which required a number of years to build even the current small staff of 5 professional positions. The initial application for accreditation, after building a staff and registering the collection, was successful in 2003. As founding director of the "Museum" I sought to create the institution's reputation through: research and publication of original exhibitions; enabling guest curators' projects; recognizing and caring for the collection (now over 6000 pieces); adhering to best practices of the museum field.
