Roger Avary was born on August 23, 1965 in Flin Flon, Manitoba Canada.

In 1984 ’s Super-8mm short film, THE WORM TURNS, was awarded Best Film at the Film Teachers Association Film Expo.

In 1986 Roger Avary attended the Pasadena Art Center College of Design, majoring in Film.

In 1988 Roger Avary & collaborated on the development of the screenplay for , basing it on an original screenplay by Avary titled THE OPEN ROAD.

In 1992 French producer Samuel Hadida financed TRUE ROMANCE for director . With Quentin Tarantino’s blessings, Roger Avary performed the necessary production rewrites on TRUE ROMANCE while Tarantino was directing .

In 1992 Roger Avary & Quentin Tarantino collaborated in Amsterdam on the screenplay for , based in part on an original screenplay by Avary titled PANDEMONIUM REIGNED.

TRUE ROMANCE was released on September 10, 1993.

In 1993 Roger Avary wrote and directed the French neo-noir crime thriller for True Romance producer, Samuel Hadida.

KILLING ZOE was the first feature film to utilize the Otto Nemitz Swing & Tilt lenses for the purposes of perspective distortion.

KILLING ZOE was released on August 19, 1994.

ROGER AVARY 2/6 of the Chicago Sun Times called KILLING ZOE “Generation X’s first Bank Caper Movie.” Len Klady of Daily Variety wrote that “Avary has concocted one of the most assured directing debuts in recent years with a film that demonstrates a one-of-a-kind sensibility well worth watching.

In 1994 KILLING ZOE garnered Best Film awards at the Cannes Prix Tres Special, Japan's Yubari International Film Festival, and Italy's MystFest.

PULP FICTION was released on October 14, 1994.

PULP FICTION was number one at the U.S. Domestic box office and earned $213 million worldwide.

Roger Avary & Quentin Tarantino were awarded Oscars™ for Best Original Screenplay by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in recognition for their work on PULP FICTION. Avary & Tarantino also shared best writing accolades from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the New York Film Critics' Circle, the Boston Society of Film Critics, the National Society of Film Critics, and the British Academy of Film and Television for their work on "Pulp".

In 1998 Roger Avary & wrote the first draft of BEOWULF, based on the Danish epic eulogy.

In 2001 Roger Avary directed his adaptation of ’ nonlinear second novel, THE RULES OF ATTRACTION, for Lions Gate Films.

THE RULES OF ATTRACTION was the first studio motion picture to be edited using Apple Computer’s Final Cut Pro.

ROGER AVARY 3/6 In 2002 Roger Avary became a spokesperson for Apple Computer’s Final Cut Pro 3, appearing in web and print ads worldwide.

THE RULES OF ATTRACTION was released on October 11, 2002.

Mark Caro of the Chicago Tribune called THE RULES OF ATTRACTION “a bravura exercise in emptiness.” Will Dana of called the film “A perverse and sickly delightful treat.”

In 2004 Roger Avary took the 70 hours of video footage that was shot for the European trip montage in THE RULES OF ATTRACTION and edited it into its own feature, GLITTERATI.

In 2005 Roger Avary and French auteur Christophe Gans developed the screenplay for SILENT HILL, based on the successful Konami videogame franchise.

In 2006 Roger Avary & Neil Gaiman, and developed the BEOWULF screenplay for production as a 3D Performance Capture epic for Zemeckis to direct.

SILENT HILL was released on April 21, 2006.

SILENT HILL was number one at the U.S. box office and earned $97 million worldwide.

BEOWULF was released on November 16, 2007.

BEOWULF was number one at the U.S. box office and earned $196 million worldwide.
