Faculty Lecturer – Dietrich Neumann PRESORTED STANDARD US POSTAGE Professor of the History of Art PAID and Architecture ABR 22191 Brown Travelers Dietrich Neumann is a professor for the history of modern architecture at Brown. From 2007-2009 he Brown University taught as the first Vincent Scully Visiting Professor at Box 1859 the Yale School of Architecture. He was trained as an Providence, RI 02912 architect in , Germany and at the Architectural Association in and received his PhD from Munich University (TU). He has published widely on modern European and American architecture and organized a number of traveling exhibitions. Among his publications are “Film Architecture: Set Design from Metropolis to Blade Runner” (1996), “Richard Neutra’s Windshield House” (2001), “Architecture of the Night” (2002) and “The Structure of Light: Richard Kelly and the Illumination of Modern Architecture.” The Society of Architectural Historians awarded him its Founder’s Award in 1997 and its Philip Johnson Award in 2001. Neumann won teaching awards at Brown in 1993, 1994, 1999, 2005, 2006 and 2008. He was a visiting scholar at the Centre Canadien d'Architecture in Montréal in 2001, a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton in 2002 and is currently a member of the Committee on Architecture and Design at MoMA. From 2008-2010 he served as president of the Society of Architectural Historians.
