Encompass- ing 125-acres, development plans include oce and residential towers, shopping and entertainment complexes, plenty of green spaces and pedestrian walkways, and, of course, vivaNext rapid transit connec- tions. In recognition of all the exciting changes to come, Vaughan City Council determined that a change of name – from Vaughan Corporate Centre – was in order to better reect the true vision and future of this key hub. This summer, the City held a contest where people were encouraged to submit their suggestions. Almost 1,600 entries were received, including Central Vaughan, Vaughan Gateway, Vaughan Mosaic Centre and Vaughan Nexus. In the end, Vaughan Metropolitan Centre was chosen as the winning entry by the City subcommittee. Davis Drive Rapidway Construction - Ready, Set, GO! Last year we accomplished a lot on Davis Drive, and as of this spring we’ll be moving full speed ahead on construc- tion to build the rapidway. Starting soon, you’ll see a lot of utility companies along the corridor working to relocate gas, power, telecommunications, etc. Later this summer, we’ll be working on the Keith Bridge near the Tannery and doing some work near Southlake hospital. Watch for updates about all of this work, with more details to come. The Davis Drive rapidway will be complete in 2015, and we’re bringing an exceptional rapid transit system that will connect to other parts of York Region and help shape Newmarket’s growth. -

Coming from Sault Ste. Marie Take Hwy 17 (Trans Canada Highway) through Sudbury to North Bay. Turn North on Highway 11 and follow to New Liskard. Take highway 65 west to the village of Elk Lake. Turn left on Highway 560 west to Gowganda. Just past Gowganda turn left on Auld Reekie Camp Road. Coming from Southern Ontario (Niagara Falls area) Take the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) north. The QEW turns east after you go over the big bridge near Hamilton and heads towards Toronto. Drive to Oakville and right by the massive Ford auto plant (1 mile past Trafalgar Road) take the cut-off for Highway 403. Take Highway 403 to highway 401. Go East on the 401 until you reach the cut-off for highway 400 north. Follow the 400 north all the way to the city of Barrie. Just past the city of Barrie the 400 ends. It splits into highway 68 and highway 11. Take highway 11 to North Bay. Follow highway 11 through North Bay to New Liskard. Take highway 65 west to the village of Elk Lake. Turn left on Highway 560 west to Gowganda. Just past Gowganda turn left on Auld Reekie Camp Road. Coming from Ottawa or Montreal If coming from Montreal take Highway 40 across into Ontario and highway 40 to Ottawa becomes highway 417 to Ottawa. Follow 417 past Ottawa and past Kanata. About 4 miles past Kanata 417 takes a sharp turn north and turns into Highway 17 about 40 mile later. Follow highway 17 all the way to highway 11, which is just south of North Bay. -

REPORT FOR ACTION 7080 Yonge Street in the City of Vaughan – Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment Applications – Request for Direction Report Date: February 5, 2021 To: Planning and Housing Committee From: Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning Wards: All SUMMARY This report responds to applications filed in the City of Vaughan to amend the City of Vaughan Official Plan and the City of Vaughan Zoning By-law which have been circulated to the City of Toronto in accordance with the requirements of the Planning Act given the proximity to the City of Toronto. The report identifies the concerns of City Planning staff and makes recommendations on future steps to protect the City's interests concerning the applications. The applications are on the west side of Yonge Street, north of Steeles Avenue West. The applications propose two mixed-use buildings with a total of 652 residential units. The towers would be forty and twenty storeys in height and overall the proposal has a Floor Space Index ("FSI") of 9.84. The Deputy City Manager, Infrastructure Development for the City of Vaughan has written a report to the City of Vaughan's Committee of the Whole regarding each application outlining some preliminary concerns with the applications including the proposed heights and densities. RECOMMENDATIONS The Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning, recommends that: 1. City Council endorse the January 18, 2021 letter from the Director, Community Planning, North York District (Attachment 3) to the City of Vaughan's Committee of the Whole which identify the concerns with the application at 7080 Yonge Street, including height and density. -

They required background music that was soft and soothing to make customers feel comfortable and entice them to want to shop longer. Challenge Being an Indoor/Outdoor environment, Toronto Premium Outlets required a hardy speaker system that would stand up to Canada's harsh, cold winters, and hot, humid summers and everything in-between. They required speakers that blended into the architecture, providing clean lines. They also required a speaker that was weather- resistant. The speakers needed to be hardy, look great, blend in and sound outstanding. Solution TOA's H Series Interior Design Speakers blend in with the architecture while providing soothing, relaxing and refreshing background music while customers wander the outdoor hallways from store to store. TOA's H-3WP is a weather-resistant (IPX4), wall-mountable, outdoor 2-way speaker that provides horizontally-wide dispersion. Some of the retail stores have also installed TOA's products including F-Series Ceiling Speakers. Feedback Although a challenging install with the indoor and outdoor areas, the integrator working with the TOA sound design, the resulting sound clarity was great. -

Congestion Charges Volume 1 THE PROBLEM OF URBAN CONGESTION IN CANADA The recent CAA study Grinding to a Halt: Evaluating Canada’s Worst Bottlenecks took a new perspective on a problem that Canadians know all too well: urban congestion is a growing strain on our economy and well-being. Canada’s worst traffic bottlenecks are almost as bad as bottlenecks in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. Bottlenecks affect Canadians in every major urban area, increasing commute times by as much as 50%. This CAA briefing on investments in active transportation is one in a series that explore potential solutions to the problem of urban congestion in Canada. These briefings delve into solutions not only to highway congestion, but also to congestion on urban streets. Taken together the solutions explored in these briefings represent a toolkit to address this problem. The objective is to inform policy makers and the public about options to reduce congestion and key considerations for when and where a particular solution might be the right fit. Congestion charges are direct charges to road users and include traditional tolls, cordon charges and mobility charges (charges based on distance travelled). Congestion charges reduce congestion if they are set high enough to encourage drivers to take an alternate route, carpool, take transit, cycle, walk or forego their trips. Generally, the higher the charge, the greater the reduction in congestion.
