Ask Jack is a syndicated column appearing in over 2,000 / newspapers across three continents. Jack Aubrey, the author ' of the column, is a man of whom little is known. Besides ^V being named Cuba's Sexiest Political Dissenter, there is not ^sT^ much we can find about his life. But here at The Xavierite, s$\y we are ok with that and I think you should be too. just don't ^P ask him about being a sexy political dissenter, he punched Q\>.VF^ our Editor in Chief in the face for asking, just so you know. -AG^ Send Jack an e-mail at [email protected]. •^ Is- Dear Jack, - '"CJ^V NOOOOOOOO! OH GOD NOOOOOOOOOOO! WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, , ,<\A^ WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Jim Hear Jim, I am guessing that you are either being eaten alive by a Black Bear or you are a Cubs fan. The pain level for someone being eaten alive by a hear or being a fan of the baseball team that didn't win the World Series is probably on par and horriblele.. It you are being eaten, then at least the pain will soon be over. The bear will soon be munching on your trachea that will, effectively, end your life. If you are a Cubs fan, the future is much bleaker. The whole winter you will have to deal with White Sox tans shoving their World Series trophy in your face. The Cubs will undoubtedly bumble their off-season plans and wind up re-signing Sammy Sosa. Then, the 2006 baseball season will begin and the Cubs will limp to an 81-81 record, once again out of the playoffs. So to recap, hopefully you are just being eaten alive by a Black Bear, for that would be much less painful than being a Cubs fan. Enjoy, Jack Aubrey P.S.-GO WHITE SOX!

Dear Jack, My dog won't eat the food we leave him anymore because he has become accustomed to table scraps. What is the best way to convince my dog that he should eat his Alpo? Sincerely, Dog Gone Dear Moron, I am sorry that your pet has become used to table scraps, gee, I wonder how that happened? Either it is YOUR fault or your Golden Retriever has learned how to use the electric try pan. And, 1 am guessing that while your dog is undoubtedly the "smartest dog, like, ever" he probably can't use kitchen appliances. Note, I put that previous passage in quotes because according to every dog owner I have ever come across, their dog is the smartest dog EVER, despite the dog's persistent desire to eat its own feces. This idea also applies to owners of cats, but in that case the cat is not touted as being smart, but rather, friendly. Look, no dogs are smart and no cats are friendly, get over it. Back to your problem. Stop feeding your dog people food and at some point, out of hunger, your little precious mutt will eat bis Alpo again. As Always, JA

Love you, love your column. 1 was wondering whom you thought is the better superhero: Batman or Superman.' Thanks, Bruce and Clark Dear Bruce and Clark, Love you, love your question. Seriously, finally a question I can finally sink my teeth into. This is the kind of debate that will rage for generations to come; like Catholic vs. Protestants, Liberals vs. Conservatives etc. Now, this question could come down to semantics. Does being a true superhero depend on actually being "super.'" Because it it does, then obviously than it is Superman, as he actually has super human powers. Batman has no super powers, unless you consider being insane a super power. Superman has super strength, vision, hearing, speed, can tly and has he.it vision. Batman has a utility belt and a chemical imbalance in his brain. I am partial to Batman because he is more of an everyman than Superman, even though he is clearly like no one in the whole world. In a world where there are many super heroes with super powers, Batman uses the one that no one else does: his ability to be crazier than the criminal. L sually, the villain is the one that is a little bit off his rocker with the superhero being grounded in his powers and righteousness. Batman has no super (towers, but srill battles criminals that carry machine guns and rocket launchers with only a belt that has "bat" grenades and "bat" throwing stars. He is just a human who went oft the deep end and now fights crime in tights and a cape with no power other than intimidation. I hope that answers your question. Go Batman! Sincerely, SuperJA Dear Jack. It a tree fell in the forest, but no one was around would it still make a noise.' Why is it that we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway? 1 low many lii ks docs it take to get to the center of Tootsie Roll Pop.' Sincerely, An annoying 16-year-old Dear Annoying 16-year-old, The tree would still cause the vibrations that flow into our ears and cause us to hear sound. I don't know why we call them parkways and driveways. And, of course, it takes three licks and one crunch to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop, stupid. As Always, JA P.S.- If Progress is good, then what is the opposite ot Progress.' Or did 1 just blow your freaking mind.'
