This non-partisan Voters’ Guide is meant to assist voters.

An educated citizenry is vital to the election process.

This 2019 Texas General Election Pamphlet provides information about candidates and proposals appearing on local ballots in November. It is meant simply to be a resource for Fort Bend County voters.

Every effort was made to include all Proposals and Candidates and to place candidates in the order they will appear on the ballot.

There was no charge to be included in this guide. Content on these pages was taken from candidate websites/ Facebook pages.

This Guide makes no endorsements explicit or implied.

There was no effort made to sell campaign ads for this edition. Any ads that may be purchased by candidates were initiated by candidates and are easily identified by format.

This Guide is compiled by the write idea as a voter tool. It is being distributed via the internet. Important dates for the November 5 Election

Early voting Monday, October 21 - Friday, November 1. Early voting locations and hours are listed at the back of this guide.

The General Election will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

A wealth of information can be found on the Fort Bend County Elections Website.

NOTE: Readers may visit candidate web sites, get an email address, check out their Facebook pages and Twitter pages by clicking on the icons included in each entry.

Candidate entries are color coded - Red for Republican and Blue for Democrat. City Council/Mayoral Elections are non-partisan in Fort Bend County. General Voter Information Voter ID All voters will be asked to show one of the forms of photo identification at the polling location before the voter will be permitted to cast a vote. If a voter does not present proper identification, the voter will still be permitted to vote provisionally. The voter will have six (6) days to present proper identification to the county voter registrar for the voter's ballot to be accepted. Voters who do not possess and cannot reasonably obtain one of the forms of acceptable photo identification listed below, may present a supporting form of identification and execute a Reasonable Impediment Declaration.

Voting By Mail

When voting by mail, you generally do not have to provide a photo ID. Registered voters over the age of 65 and those voters claiming a disability are eligible to vote by mail.

Your request must state the address at which you are registered to vote, one of the stated conditions for requesting a ballot, the address to which you want the ballot mailed, and your signature. If the ballot is not to be mailed outside the County and not to the address at which you are registered, you must give an explanation as to the address such as nursing home, hospital, etc.

You must make a new request every year

You do not have to vote on every position on the ballot. Your votes count even if you skip some races. Important Dates!

The duties of the legislature include: consideration of proposed laws and resolutions, consideration of proposed constitutional amendments for submission to the voters, and appropriation of all funds for the operation of state government. All bills for raising revenue considered by the legislature must originate in the house of representatives. Two -year term.

Laningham believes we need more conservatives in the House to pass property tax reform, to stop tax hikes and get property taxes under control. She believes traditional family values should be upheld and honored in law as the most important institution in society. Border security is an urgent priority. Pearson, a resident for over 25 years, was appointed by City Council to fill the vacant District A council seat in November 2018. His children are all products of FBISD. He attended TSU majoring in Political Science. His work has allowed him to travel both domestically and internationally where he has seen how other “bedroom” cities that balanced that designation with economic development and growth. Jeffrey L. Boney - I Business Entrepreneur-Self Employed/In office since 2017

A resident for almost 20 years, Boney and his wife are raising three children, while running a successful business headquartered here. Boney is the past president of the Quail Green Home-owners’ Association and has served on the MC Community Development Advisory Committee. Jeffrey has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (TSU) and an Honorary Doctorate in Organizational Leadership (Juliana King University). A resident since 2006, Kemp will advocate for the citizens of District B. She believes that any governing body or elected official owes a duty to their citizens and respective constituents to be transparent in government; residents should be safe in their community and they should be assured that Council is being fiscally responsible. Bilingual Interpreters Needed

The Elections office is in need of Spanish bilingual election personnel to serve as interpreters in performing an official duty in connection with elections in city, school, county, state and federal elections.

General eligibility and duties to serve as interpreter as permitted in the Texas Election Code are as follows:

Must be a registered voter of the county. May accompany the voter to the voting station for the purpose of translating the ballot to the voter. Available to work during early voting by personal appearance at various locations throughout the county. Available to work on Election Day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at a polling place. There are ten state constitutional amendments on the ballot, approved by the Legislature during this year’s session. Constitutional amendments required the support of two-thirds of the Texas House and Senate, followed by a majority of the voters.

Since Texas’ constitution was adopted in 1876, 498 amendments have been added, while voters have turned down 179.
