Black History Month A celebration of history, arts, literature and film A guide to events in Lambeth - Autumn 2015 Photo: Pegasus Opera www.lambeth.gov.uk/events Lambeth libraries 3 Introduction I am delighted to invite you to this year’s Black History Month celebrations, which will be running throughout October in Lambeth. Last year people told us how inspiring and uplifting they found the events and this year’s programme is just as exciting. There is something for everyone to enjoy and it is a wonderful opportunity to learn about and celebrate African and Caribbean culture and heritage which enriches all our lives. Lambeth Libraries have teamed up with the South Bank Centre, Age UK Lambeth, University of the 3rd Age , the Black Cultural Archive and Pegasus opera, along with many individual artists and writers, to provide a fantastic month. I hope you will be able to join us Cllr Jane Edbrooke Lambeth Cabinet member for Neighbourhoods On Saturday 3 October, all Lambeth Libraries will transform into Fun Palaces. @BHMLambeth Fun Palaces is an annual, free, nationwide celebration of arts, culture and science. It will be a day filled with fun, interactive and participatory activities. There’ll be BHMLambeth crafts, music, fun and games, theatre, art events, workshops, and science. Highlights include games created by Code Club (the kids will even teach you a thing or two), Lucy Beresford reading from her new book, a role-playing robot game and a chance to be motion captured. Everyone is welcome to get involved!
