The SDGs have evolved through an unprecedented consultative process involving national governments, civil society organizations, industry, academia and millions of citizens from across the globe who put together the global path to sustainable development for the next 15 years, an agenda “of the people, by the people and for the people”. This forms the core principle of universality, the idea to 'Leave No One Behind', inclusive of all people, everywhere, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized ones. The SDGs with 17 goals and 169 targets are comprehensive and ambitious as these include almost all possible problems that humanities face today such as poverty, hunger, education, health and well-being, education, gender equality, water and sanitation, energy, economic growth and decent work, infrastructure, industry and innovation, reducing inequalities, sustainable cities, consumption and production, climate action, ecosystems, oceans, peace and justice, and partnership. The SDGs are path breaking as it is for the first time
