Reinsel will show examples from a series of artists and draw connections between games, performance art, and other kinds of interactive systems. Reinsel is an Assistant Professor of Media Arts and Communication and Visual Arts at the University of Michigan-Flint. He is also an artist who uses new media, video, and sound to explore ideas about architectural space, time, and touch. InLabyrinth: colored pencil and garnet 6 x 4 inches The Circuitous Life of a Miniaturist, the artist aims Collection of Dr. Dan Haddad to take the viewer on a visual journey, exploring historical, religious, and social ideas that he has been engaged with in a very personal way. While the works are contemporary, Demeulenaere draws inspiration from Northern and Italian Renaissance masters, French Neoclassical painters, and the British Pre-Raphaelites. This exhibition will feature over 115 works that are drawn from different eras of the artist’s career. Arranged in a labyrinth or maze-like way, Demeulenaere’s installation tells complex stories. While some messages are visually apparent, others must be extrapolated through carefully placed symbols in the artist’s work. Demeulenaere is a Michigan-based artist whose installations present his small works within a larger visual and intellectual context. Photography at the FIA André Kertész American, b. Hungary, 1894–1985 Chez Mondrian, Paris, 1926, The photography collection at the FIA printed later gelatin silver print began in 1964 with a work purchased 10 x 8 inches during the 34th AC Annual (an art Gift of Dr. Seymour and Barbara exhibition sponsored by AC Sparkplug) K. Adelson, 2014.9 and since that date, the collection has grown through purchases and gifts. Recently, the FIA has received several important gifts. The first work by André Kertész, given by Dr. Seymour and Barbara K. Adelson, entered the collection this year. Kertész, a Hungarian-born photographer, is considered to be one of the most important photographers of the 20th century because of his innovative compositions. Chez Mondrian, Paris (1926) depicts the Paris studio of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. In a photograph taken shortly after Kertész arrived in Paris, he created the composition by opening the normally closed door of Mondrian’s studio to show the elegant curves of the hall’s staircase. The Andy Warhol Foundation gave one of Pop artist Andy Warhol’s Red Books, a series of unique Polaroid photographs enclosed in a red Holson Polaroid album. The celebration begins with the tree lighting at 5:15p in Durant Plaza between Sloan Museum and The Whiting. Along with many delightful performances, the Flint Symphonic Wind Ensemble will be the grand finale at the FIA as they perform joyful arrangements of holiday favorites. There is plenty of family-friendly fun as well, meet and greet special guest Daniel Tiger and say, “Hello” to Mario and Sonic when you visit The Art of Video Games exhibition. Intro to Drawing This workshop introduces students to many materials and techniques utilized in drawing. Students will explore issues of form, value and space using pencils and charcoal. He then worked for General Motors for over 30 years.
