Caucasian Adventure Or Freeride in Gudauri 27.01 – 04.02.2017 Skiing Caucasian adventure or freeride in Gudauri 27.01 – 04.02.2017 Gudauri is one of the best places for freeride and heli-skiing in the world. Located where Asia and Europe meet, the centre is a combination of wilderness of the Caucasus and modern and fully operative infrastructure for skiers. Wherever you look, the whiteness of the mountains is breath-taking offering countless opportunities for free riders. The resort is set over 2000 m above sea level, i.e. well above the tree line, and in the proximity of The Black Sea, which guarantees frequent supplies of fresh snow. However, skiers do not live on snow alone, and Georgia has definitely far more to offer than fine snow and fabulous mountains. Georgia can be a culinary adventure of a thousand of fragrances and flavours. Georgia boasts its own quality wine and unmatched hospitality of local inhabitants who are willing to tell stories about their people and their beloved country. The capital city of Tbilisi is a gem in itself luring intrepid travellers with charming spots set amidst the modern urban space. Skiing programme During our trip we are going to spend 5 days skiing or snowboarding in Gudauri. There are two options to choose from. You can either enjoy the Gudauri slopes for 5 days; or spend 1 day on the slopes to warm up and use the remaining 4 days on off-piste riding accompanied by the best local guides. Most off-piste riding entails mostly using the available lifts and sometimes a bit of walking, but there is no need to have the ski-touring equipment. If you desire even more than that, we have additional attractions on offer (for an extra charge): Ski-touring trips to Lomisa Monastery or Mount Dedaen (ski-touring gear required) Heli-skiing A 2-day skiing trip with a night spent in an igloo There are also many other snow related attractions to choose from such as paragliding over the ski resort or snowmobile rides. The skiing programme may require minor modifications due to weather and snow conditions. Day 3 - 5 The Greater Caucasus – Gudauri, Cross Pass and Truso Gorge The impressively high snowy peaks of the Greater Caucasus are visible even as one drives out of Tbilisi. Within an hour we are rising steadily up the Aragvi Valley and into the heart of these great mountains. Higher than the European Alps and much less populated, this is a truly wild region. Though some, not all, of these objections were ostensibly addressed in their responses, they were not addressed fully nor adequately. I raised concerns regarding Meadows assumptions on growth in demand for Alpine skiing. The last ten years MHM stated continued growth trends, but actually the most recent previous two years that has not been the trend. The true growth is in Nordic skiing. The majority of the Nordic community is against the creation of the Twilight lot without a comprehensive analysis of potential future use of this terrain, and nearby Nordic trails and connecting trails. This type of analysis has not been done, and would be precluded by proceeding with the construction of the Twilight lot before all future use options have been considered. Second, I asked that MHM be required by the FS to place the funds, $500,000, for a Nordic center in a designated account for a future Nordic center building, and a restrictive timeline for construction. If the parking lot is to be built, the Nordic community should have some prior input on the Nordic facility to be built prior to the lots final approval. The response that was posted simply stated that "a" facility would be built within three years.

Due to its geographical location, Georgia is the most important transit country in the region, connecting the countries of Central Asia with Europe. Cargoes through Georgia and from Georgia are transported by sea, rail and road. Highways account for 59 percent of the country’s freight traffic, which is about 17.2 million tons per year. The length of international transit roads in Georgia is 1,467 kilometers. One of the most important of them is the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Upper Lars road, which connects Georgia with Russia. Of the 315,500 cars that drove on the roads of Georgia in 2020, up to 45 percent drove on the Georgian Military Highway.
