Blades Girls with Game Holiday Camp -- COMING UP: The recent September school holidays saw Blades Basketball Club on the Gold Coast host another Girls with Game Holiday camp. The IplayThanks Girls to Basketballall of the Girls nd camp was held on Wednesday the 22 at Marymount College Lang Park Basketball Basketball Stadium. 32 Girls participated throughout the duration of Club- Girls aged 9-13yrs the camp across two separate age groups. The girls worked extremely hard and listened intently as they participated in a variety Logan Thunder & of sessions including footwork, ball handling & dribbling, shooting & Fire WNBL rebounding, Passing as well as individual & team defence. The last Matches session of the camp was a series of fun games for prizes and 5 on 5 Healthstream Girls games. The camp concluded with each participant receiving a Basketball Academy- number of Girls with Game and Blades Basketball prizes. Thanks to all of the girls who attended the camp and put in 100% effort with Scholarships available now! great attitudes! Thanks also goes to Blades Basketball Club for hosting the camp. PERSONAL: DOB 26/08/1982, Height: 183cm POSITION: Forward/Centre JUNIOR ASSOCIATION: Rockhampton QLD FIRST PLAYED WNBL: 2006/07 (Townsville) WNBL CLUBS: Townsville 2006/07-2008, Logan 2008/09 - Current

WNBL CAREER NOTES: In the 2009/10 season, Biancia averaged a career high 10 points per game. She also averaged an impressive 6.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists. In the 2008/09 season Biancia averaged a career high 8.7 points per game, also averaging 4.7 rebounds. Biancia averaged 7.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for Townsville in 2007/08. Abbott saw court time in 17 games at an average of 8 minutes per game in 2006/07 and averaged 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per games and shot at an impressive 52% from the field. GENERAL BASKETBALL CAREER NOTES: Biancia played in the English Basketball League for London Heathrow Acers in 2005/06. She was the ABA National Leading Rebounder in 2006, averaging 13.7 per game and in 2004, averaging 10.7 per game. Biancia represented Queensland at National School Championships in 1999 and played for Rockhampton in the QABL between 1998 and 2003. Biancia has also had stints with the Gold Coast and South West Pirates in QBL. PERSONAL INFORMATION: Biancia loves the beach, surfing and chilling out with her friends and team mates. Her pet hate is rudeness. She wants to visit the Maldives one day and her most embarrassing moment in basketball was when approximately 15 colleagues from her work came to a local QABL game wearing masks (life size picture of her face) on a stick.

PERSONAL: DOB 07/07/1992, Height: 179cm POSITION: Guard JUNIOR ASSOCATION: Townsville, QLD FIRST PLAYED WNBL: 2008/09 WNBL CLUBS: 2008/09 Townsville Fire, 2009/10 AIS INTERNATIONAL GAMES: 9 Games (Junior) WNBL CAREER NOTES: Jillian was a development player for the Townsville Fire in the 2008/09 season and played in three games. She was awarded an AIS scholarship at the beginning of 2009 and joined the Institute for the 2009/10 WNBL season. GENERAL BASKETBALL CAREER NOTES: Jillian first represented Australia at the 2008 Oceania Tournament in Guam, winning Gold. She went on to win the Australian Youth Olympic Festival with an U16 Australian team before taking up a scholarship at the AIS. In 2009 Jillian represented Australia’s U19 Women’s team, the Gems, at the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women in Thailand. Rebekah started refereeing U10-U14’s at a club level this year for the University of the Sunshine Coast Basketball Club. She started refereeing to learn more about the games and enjoys it because it will help her to develop her own playing skills as well as her understanding of the game and her self confidence. Rebekah always listens and will act on constructive criticism. She has a professional attitude and is always punctual. Her favourite player is QBL player Kristy Williams and her favourite refereeing moment was being told that she had great potential after refereeing one of her games. Rebakah also plays basketball and her goal is to continue to grow with her team. Great work!! ☺

Chloe has been refereeing basketball for 3 years at Ipswich Basketball Chloe Ashton across a variety of competitions including BQJBC, State Championships, club & GBS. Chloe started refereeing because she wanted to be more involved in the sport. She enjoys it because she is able to travel, referee and socialise with referees from other associations. Her favourite moment is being able to referee the U14 Girls Div2 Grand Final as the 2010 State Champs. Chloe’s short term goal is to become accredited as a level 1A referee. Her long term goal is be part of the Development league team at Ipswich. Good job Chloe!!

Ashleigh Thurstans

Ashleigh started refereeing 18 months ago to gain a better appreciation of basketball. She is currently refereeing U10-U14’s for Cairns Basketball Association. Ashleigh’s favourite refereeing moment was getting the opportunity to referee the Local U12 boy’s grand final last year. Her current goal is to referee at a State Championships. Ashleigh always puts in 100% and has a fantastic attitude. She is always looking to improve as a referee and always listens to her referee coaches. Ashleigh is always courteous and respectful of players & coaches. Congratulations Ashleigh!

Khaedin has been playing basketball for 7 years and is currently playing for Ipswich. Khaedin has played club, representative and state level basketball and is at present playing across 5 separate age groups. Khaedin, along with both her parents and 3 sisters all enjoy playing basketball because its fun and a challenge. She always gives 100% and

puts in a lot of extra training time. Khaedin also helps out with the U8 and U10 sides and referees when needed. Khaedin’s favourite player is USA & Seattle storm point guard Sue Bird. Khaedin would also like to play for

the Seasider’s at Brigham Young University and she would like to play for Australia. Keep up the great work Khaedin ☺ Khaedin Taito

Phoebe started playing basketball for Northside Wiz ards & Aspley Devils Phoebe Hinds 2 years ago after being inspired by her sister. Phoebe loves playing basketball because it’s fun, intense, fast-paced and involves a great deal of thinking and tactics. Phoebe is a determined and courageous team player who is always encouraging and supportive of her team mates. Phoebe’s favourite playing moment was scoring her first basket in her first QBL game. Her goals are to keep improving her knowledge and skills to reach her full potential, continue playing QBL and make the under 18 state team. Phoebe’s favourite player is Australian Opal Jenna O’Hea who phoebe got to train at play with in the QBL. Congratulations Phoebe! Healthstream Girls Basketball Academy This is an all Girls Basketball Academy designed to enhance the development of basketball skills of female athletes through, strength and conditioning and on court instruction.
