2007, Mark MacKay & Troy Edwards

Mark MacKay… MacKay was the first of the Warriors in 1984-1985, that season he had 66 goals and 140 points and was named the WHL Rookie of the Year… Mark had a successful hockey career in Europe from 1985 to 2001, scoring over 2,000 career points… Was a member of the 1995 German national team, and went on to play in six World Championships, one , and two Olympic games… While in Germany, he founded a Children’s Foundation called “Goals for Kids”, which helps create a better life for underprivileged kids.

Troy Edwards… played with the Warriors for three seasons, scoring 82 goals and 187 points in 212 games from 1984 to 1987… served as Captain in 1986-1987… went on to play professionally in the IHL and AHL… played with the University of Regina Cougars in 1990… was the Cougars Captain in his final year, was also a CIAU first team All- Star and All-Canadian… received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, majoring in marketing and finance.

2008, Mike Keane & Kent Hayes

Mike Keane… played in 185 games for Warriors from 1984 to 1987, scoring 76 goals, 196 points, and 238 minutes… Co-Captain of team in 1986-1987… Played for Canada at 1987 World Juniors… played over 1100 NHL games from 1988 to 2004… played five seasons with hometown Manitoba Moose in Winnipeg, retired from professional hockey in 2010… 2006-2007 winner of AHL’s Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award for being the player who best exemplified sportsmanship, determination, and dedication to hockey... Won Stanley Cups with Montreal (1993), Colorado (1996), and Dallas (1999).

Kent Hayes… played in 141 games for the Warriors from 1984 to 1986, scoring 106 goals and finishing with 206 points… He averaged 1.46 points per game while in Moose Jaw... Scored 50+ goals twice (50 & 56)… Scored 114 points in 1984-1985… Kent is part owner of Hayes Construction Company in Calgary, Alberta… Owner of Pazzer’s Pub in Calgary, AB.

2009, Kelly Buchberger & Rob Harvey, Barry Webster (Builders Category)

Kelly Buchberger… played with the Warriors from 1984 to 1986, in 123 games he scored 26 goals and had 65 points along with 320 penalty minutes... During 1986 WHL playoffs he had 11 goals and 15 points in 13 games… Selected by Edmonton in 1985 NHL Entry Draft… Played in 1182 NHL games, scoring 105 goals and finished with 309 points… Won Stanley Cups with the in 1987 and 1990.

Rob Harvey… played in 221 games while with the Warriors from 1986-1990… Scored ninety goals and finished with 219 points… Scored 40 goals and had 102 points in 1989-1990… Used Education Fund to attend University of Regina where he played for the Cougars… Obtained a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration.

2010, Theoren Fleury & Scott Thomas, Warriors Booster Club (Builder Category)

Theoren Fleury… played in 274 games while with the Warriors from 1984 to 1988… Is the franchise leader in goals (201), assists (271), and points (472)… Scored 60+ goals twice (61 and 68)… Had 60+ assists three times (65, 68, 92)… Recorded three 100+ seasons (108, 129, 160)… Has franchise record for assists in a season (92) and points in a season (160)… Was a member of Canada’s 1987 World Junior team… Selected by Calgary in the 8th round of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft… Played in over 1000 NHL games with Calgary, Colorado, NY Rangers, and Chicago… Won in 1989 with Calgary… Won Olympic gold medal in 2002.

Scott Thomas… played in 209 games with the Warriors from 1987 to 1991… Was a two sport athlete in Moose Jaw, spent his summers playing baseball… Used education money to attend the University of Regina where he played with the Cougars hockey team… Later transferred to University of Saskatchewan where he enrolled in the College of Education… Went to Toronto to attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College… Owns and operates the Attridge Chiropractic Clinic in Saskatoon.

2011, Blair Atchynum & Derek Kletzel, Rob Carnie (Builders Category)

Blair Atchynum… played with the Warriors from 1986 to 1989, suited up in 143 games scoring 105 goals and finishing with 189 points… Holds franchise record for goals in a single season, scored 70 goals in 1988-1989… His 139 points in 1988-1989 is the third highest single season total in Warrior history… Selected by Hartford in the third round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft… Went on to play 196 NHL goals, scoring 27 goals and finishing with 60 points while with Ottawa, Nashville, St. Louis, and Chicago… Also played professionally in the AHL, ECHL, and IHL.

Derek Kletzel… played in 190 games with the Warriors from 1988-1992… Scored 83 goals and had 183 points while with the tribe… Named Warriors captain in 1991-1992… Had 45 goals and 100 points in 1990-1991… Used education fund to attend Acadia University, had 22 goals and 49 points in 51 games for Axeman as they won CIAU National Championship… Attended University of Regina in 1995-1996… Earned a Bachelor of Physical Activity Studies, became a kinesiologist and currently works and resides in Moose Jaw… Has worked on Warriors radio broadcasts for over five years.

2012, Jerome Bechard & Donovan Nunweiler, RoseMary Hartney (Builder Category)

Jerome Bechard… played in 284 games while with the Warriors from 1985 to 1990… Scored 100 goals, 138 assists, and finished with 238 points… 880 career penalty minutes is the second most in franchise history… Selected in the sixth round by Hartford in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft… Served as Warriors captain for 1989-1990 season, which was his best season with 46 goals and 93 points… Played professional hockey in the AHL, ECHL, IHL, CHL, and SPHL from 1990 to 2007… Head Coach of the Columbus Cottonmouths (SPHL) from 2004 to present… Won league titles in 2005 and 2012.

Donovan Nunweiler… played with Moose Jaw from 1996 to 1998, appearing in 112 regular season games… Posted a 45-47-11 record, finished with a career 3.27gaa, which was a franchise at the time… Played two seasons with Acadia… Accepted into the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta to complete his MD… Completed residency in family medicine… Owns medical clinic in Medicine Hat where he’s a family physician WARRIORS & LEGENDS HALL OF FAME

2013, Lyle Odelein & Darryl Laplante, Lyle Helland (Builder Category)

Lyle Odelein… played for the Warriors from 1985 to 1988, dressing in 189 games. His best statistical season for the Warriors was 1986-1987; in 59 games he had nine goals and 59 points. Odelein finished his WHL career with 33 goals, 130 assists, and 163 points which ranks him third all-time among Warriors defenceman. The drafted him in the seventh round in 1986. He went on to play 1056 NHL games with Montreal, New Jersey, Phoenix, Columbus, Chicago, Dallas, Florida, and Pittsburgh. Over his 19 year NHL career he scored 50 goals, had 252 points, and 2316 penalty minutes. He was the first captain, and won a Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1993.

Darryl Laplante… dressed in 212 games for the Warriors from 1994 to 1997; he scored 102 goals and finished with 208 points. His best season for the Warriors was 1995-1996 when he had 42 goals and 82 points. The Calgary product was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round, 58th overall, in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Laplante played for the Red Wings from 1997 to 2000; he also spent time from 1997 to 2002 in the with Adirondack, Cincinnati, Houston, and Providence. Laplante was the Warriors captain from 1995 to 1997; he was the first player in franchise history to be Captain in multiple years.
