Copenhagen Walking Tour COPENHAGEN WALKING TOUR (2 HOURS) Minimum participants 10 pax During this walking tour through Copenhagen you will experience many sights such as Amaliehaven Square, where the Queen’s Castle is located. Near the Amalienborg Palace, you’ll reach the Nyhavn canals. Nyhavn was previously the sailors’ quarter, but has been converted into a fashionable promenade with excellent restaurants and bars. You cross the New King’s Square where the Royal Theatre is located and proceed to medieval Copenhagen where the cobble-stoned streets, half- timbered houses, and narrow courtyards still dominate. En route you pass Christiansborg Castle, housing the Danish Government, before strolling back into the cosy narrow pedestrian streets again. COPENHAGEN CITY TOUR (4 HOURS) (INCLUDING A VISIT TO ROSENBORG CASTLE ) Minimum participants 15 pax Discover the beauty of Copenhagen on this enjoyable excursion that combines sightseeing with a visit to one of the city’s most attractive locations: Rosenborg Castle. This 400-year-old Renaissance castle was built by Christian IV. On this tour you can travel back in time and get a sense of royal life through the possessions of Christian IV and his heirs. Afterwards the tour will take you to see the Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace, the Church of Holmen, the Old Stock Exchange and Nyhavn. CITY TOUR AND CANAL CRUISE (4 HOURS) Minimum participants 20 pax This City and canal tour of the Capital of Denmark, will take you through the history from the oldest parts of the Queen’s City of Copenhagen to the most exiting new expressions of modern architecture and design. You will see 16th century historic buildings such as the Old Stock Exchange with its unique spire of three intertwining dragon tails, the charming Holmen Church and the old colorful and lively harbor of Nyhavn. 50 min.cruise included through the picturesque canals of Copenhagen, where you will see the city from the sea side passing by the Little Mermaid, Christiansborg Palace, the old harbor area Nyhavn and the charming area around the Christianshavn Canal. THE VIKING SHIP MUSEUM (5 HOURS) Minimum participants 20 pax The Viking Ship Museum is both a museum, a research institution and an active boatyard. On the basis of the discovery of five Viking ships in Roskilde Fjord, the museum present the Vikings' maritime culture, their shipping, ship building, craftsmanship, voyages, trade and the significance of the ships for Viking society. Both indoors in the Viking Ship Hall, which contains the five Skuldelev ships, and outdoors in the workshops and at the boatyard, the story is told of the museum's archaeological, historical and practical work with the ships. The tour includes a visit to the UNESCO world heritage Roskilde Cathedral. Roskilde Cathedral is the burial church of the Danish monarchy housing almost 40 royal graves from the Viking king Harold Bluetooth, who christened the Danes in the 10th century to Margrethe 2. the current queen of Denmark who is preparing her own future burial place. NORTH SEALAND CASTLE TOUR (8 HOURS) Minimum participants 15 pax This tour will give you a chance to admire the preferred countryside for the Danish Kings and Queens for centuries. It takes you along the beautiful Danish Riviera, to the city of Ellsinore with a visit to the Kronborg Castle– also known as Hamlet's Castle, from the setting for Shakespeare's famous play “Hamlet”. Next you will drive through beautiful countryside to Fredensborg Castle – the summer residence of the Royal Family. Here you will have a short photo stop before you continue to the city of Hilleroed, where you visit the Frederiksborg Castle. Built in 17th century, this pearl of history in the magnificent Dutch Renaissance style with a touch of baroque, is now a national historical museum containing treasures of painting, tapestry, porcelain, silver, furniture.     The Nyhavn Experience A non-representational perspective The deconstruction of the Nyhavn experience through hygge By Maria Sørup-Høj Aalborg University 2017 Tourism Master Thesis Supervisor: Martin Tranberg Jensen Submission date: 31 May 2017 Abstract This thesis sets out to challenge the existing way of doing tourism research by using a non- representational approach in looking into the tourist experience of Nyhavn, Denmark. The Nyhavn experience is deconstructed through the Danish phenomenon hygge, where it is being investigated how the contested space of Nyhavn with its many rationalities creates the frames, which hygge may unfold within. It is demonstrated how hygge is a multiple concept, which is constituted through various elements, including the audience, the actors and their actions, the weather, the sociality, the materiality and the political landscape in Nyhavn. The elements in the study are being discussed separately in order to give a better view on the different aspects. However, it is important to note point out that these aspects cannot be seen as merely individual aspects of establishing hygge, but that they are interrelated and interconnected in the creation of the atmosphere of hygge. The collecting of the data was done via embodied methods inspired by the performative turn in tourism, where the focus is on the embodied and multisensous experience. This is carried out by integrating pictures, video and audio clips, observant participation and impressionist tales in order to try to make the ephemeral phenomenon hygge as concrete as possible. Furthermore, data have been collected via netnography on TripAdvisor and travel blogs respectively. The study is characterized by being transdisciplinary, where theory has been drawn in from various fields, such as tourism, human geography, sociology, anthropology and sociology of the senses.

Det materiale vi modtog ved den første information om byggeriet. Jeg vil i det følgende prøve at give en beskrivelse af området fra Arilds tid og til i dag, hvor det indrammes af Torvegade, Overgaden neden Vandet, Hammershøj Kaj og havnepromenaden langs kontorbygningerne. Oprindelig var området et lavvandet sumpet område mellem Amager og Sjælland, hvor sejlbare render lå over mod fiskerlejet Havn på Sjællands kyst. På nogle små øer byggede Absalon borg i 1167. Der hvor Christiansborg i dag ligger. Det ældste billedmateriale fra omkring 1580 og samtidige skriftlige kilder viser at forsyninger med fødevarer til København fra Amager foregik ved en primitiv færgefart mellem Revsholm på Amager og Københavns havn ved nuværende Højbro Plads. (Skovserkonens stade.) Københavns havn var på denne tid kun vandet mellem Slotsholmen og København. Nuværende Frederiksholms kanal og Gl. Strand. Der var dog et yderligere sejlløb i forlængelse af Gl. Strand, Bremerholm dyb. Det er fyldt op i dag og findes kun i gadenavnene, Dybensgade, Bremerholm og Holmens bro. I 1556 forærer Christian den III Københavns borgere Grønnegårds havn . Et område der svarer til grundene hvorpå Enhjørningen, Løven og Elefanten er placeret. Dengang var området først og fremmest vand omgivet af lidt sumpet land mod øst. Havnen blev brugt som vinterhavn for Københavns handelsskibe, der her kunne ligge i læ for vejr og vind, når de var lagt op for vinteren.

It is one which can be of help in guiding our way through today's murky social and political problems as we grapple with terrorist threats and moral issues confronting us in this new millennium. It is a story of special significance to all Danes and Danish-Americans. I have relied on several sources in developing this paper, and am especially indebted to an unpublished paper and interview with Immanuel Rodholm, my mother's cousin, who was born in Danevang, Texas, and who moved to Denmark as a young boy. Immanuel, or lb as he is called, has enjoyed a distinguished career.

The space supplies daylight to the surrounding offices and corridors. Preface Danmarks Nationalbank is Denmark’s central bank. Its objective is to ensure a robust economy in Denmark, and Danmarks Nationalbank holds a range of responsibilities of vital socioeconomic importance. The Danmarks Nationalbank building is centrally located in Copen­ hagen and is a distinctive presence in the urban landscape. The build­ ing, which was built in the period 1965–78, was designed by interna­ tionally renowned Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. It is considered to be one of his principal works. In 2009, it became the youngest building in Denmark to be listed as a historical site. When the building was listed, the Danish Agency for Culture highlighted five elements that make it historically significant: 1. The building’s architectural appearance in the urban landscape 2.
